I wonder if this should be sent to TLP, maybe with a broader scope? Or can this be covered by Handicapped Badass?

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe description even mentions that this concept is a lot broader, such as a "peg-legged dancer". So I wouldn't mind broadening the idea in TLP, since it does seem like an actual trope. Or we cut and yard the broader version if nobody wants to sponsor it.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAnother thing to note is that with the broader scope being made more apparent, the concept itself can actually seem less fictional than the description lets on. I can think of examples from real life like a woman born with no arms who learned to pilot a plane and a pro Street Fighter player with arthrogryposis who plays with his mouth that could fit under the real life section and returning this to TLP will likely produce several fictional examples also.
Noting that I did a bit of crosswicking before this was launched so it’s now up to 15 wicks. (It wasn’t even linked on Hook Hand!)
But I support explicitly broadening to the more general “handicapped artist/musician/performer”. Hook Hand itself admits it is otw to being a Dead Horse Trope so I doubt we’ll find many more examples of Hook-Handed Pianist.
It will probably need to go to TLP for examples.
Yeah, I also agree with broadening it and sending it back to TLP for examples (maybe with a more indicative name, like "Disability-Talent Contrast"?)

Y'ALL JUST GOT SHREKTIt sounds like the proposal is to expand this to Disabled Artist and become a supertrope to Deaf Composer.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. That potential trope would make for some interesting Real Life examples actually, come to think.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallIs there anyone who'd be willing to sponsor this? If I can think of a few new examples and a way to write the description, I might, but I'd prefer if someone else does.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI agree with that.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Bumping because this thread was pushed down the page and seems like an easy fix, since renaming to Disabled Artist, expanding the definition, and migrating the wicks wouldn't take long. Is it safe to make a crowner since it's been three days?
As a side note, Disabled Artist would be a supertrope to Blind Musician in addition to Deaf Composer. Someone mentioned that Disabled Artist would have interesting real life examples; Blind Musician has a list of real life examples and has a page image featuring a real life example (Ray Charles), though unfortunately most of them lack context (including the one for Ray Charles).

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Artist With Disabilities would be a better name.
A more socially progressive name could be Differently Abled Artist.

Kirby is awesome.Made a Single Prop crowner for the proposal to expand and rename.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Hooked!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIt's unanimous and it's been three days. Call?
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWow, that is maybe the most unanimous I've ever seen a crowner here in TRS. Looks like we're expanding the definition, crew!
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Hook, hook, here's the hook!
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Personally, out of the current options, my favourite is Artist With Disabilities because it describes them as an artist first and the disability is second. Differently Abled Artist still has the problem of putting the disability before the person. They're a pianist with a hook, not a hook that happens to be attached to a pianist.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I would go with Artist With Disabilities as my first choice.
Kirby is awesome. My only concern with the titles is that they're so broad as to imply any artist with any disability might count, regardless of if it'd actually affect their art or not. I don't want this to be boiled down so thin that it's just any artist with any disability, especially since that opens up the floodgates to chairs-y Real Life examples.
This specific trope, for example, isn't just "artist has disability" but "artist has disability that should impact their ability to perform."

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI picked Disabled Artist, mainly because it sounds easier to say (at least to me).
(Don't) take me home.Would Ironically Disabled Artist be more usefully specific?
(And FWIW, in my experience “disabled x” is actually preferred to “x with disabilities”)
Old Enough to Be Your Absurdly Youthful MotherSeconding Ironically Disabled Artist, since "Disabled Artist" does sound like an artist with any disability, and "Artist with Disabilities" sounds like an artist with multiple disabilities.
For every low there is a high. Can we add that one to the crowner?
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Crown Description:
Consensus was to expand Hook Handed Pianist's definition and rename it. What should its new name be?
Has existed since 2017, but there are only 9 wicks. That means Starving on Wick, so it's not performing well enough. I vote cut.
