back lolMerge, and I think Not So Extinct has a better name than Species Lost and Found, and the former already has more wicks than the latter.
Edit: I don't think we'd need to change Not So Extinct's description much after merging; we mainly need to remove the emphasis on fantasy creatures, and I have an idea for how to word it (the description is already short enough that I don't see the need to sandbox it at the moment):
Also applies if the creature in question is thought to be a myth. A form of Chekhov's Gun. May involve an Egg MacGuffin.
This is generally a fantasy trope, but it can happen in the real world, or if the story revolves around an extinct creature being discovered. If they actually were extinct but are now coming back, see The Dragons Come Back.
(I left the part about the real world because there have been cases of species being rediscovered after people thought they were long extinct, such as with coelacanths.)
Edit: I previously accidentally typed "and" instead of "on". That's embarrassing.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessShould there be a Lazarus Taxon redirect? It's the real-life term for this trope as far as I know.
Anyhow merge.

Merge, keep Not So Extinct as the main page.
Might be worth looking into.
Not So Extinct is the clearer title, and the page has more wicks. Vote to merge.
I think we should keep the Not So Extinct quote, and maybe find a coelacanth-related image.
I agree with the merge.
I agree.
Edit: I just noticed I accidentally typed "and" instead of "on" in my previous post, so I fixed that.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I agree with the merge. The image on Species Lost and Found can go on Not So Extinct.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I'm fine with moving the image, since there's nothing wrong with it.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Merge.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Another vote for merge.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIt's a bit quick, but it seems like we have 15+ votes for merging Species Lost and Found into Not So Extinct. Make it so!
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAnd that's done, plus description update. Locking now.

I cannot for the life of me figure out the difference between Not So Extinct and Species Lost and Found. According to the pages, the difference is that Species Lost and Found is for real (or realistic) creatures and Not So Extinct is for fantasy ones, so how come the Species Lost and Found image and the Not So Extinct quote both involve dinosaurs, and how come a bunch of the Species Lost and Found examples involve fantasy creatures? Anyway, I hardly think such a distinction is important enough to create two separate tropes. I think we should merge Species Lost and Found into Not So Extinct.
