My Little Pony: Cleanup Is Magic

I'd say it's lukewarm practically everywhere, with more people admitting they hate it than they like it. The people that do admit to liking have been mocked and called sellouts on various forums and Equestria Daily besides Sethisto, the Trixie loving admin of ED.

I personally am neutral towards it, I like some of the characters, but hate others, but I prefer the shorts to the actual show, because at least in the shorts, the backgrounds weren't Stylistic Suck as I'd call PL's backgrounds. Comparing Pony Life to Friendship is Magic and to a lesser extent Equestria Girls is more like comparing Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog to Sonic Sat-AM. Both have their appeal, but one is extremely cheesy and serves as filler between G4 and G5.

Also for the Scrappy page for Flash, he's not really HATED anymore per se, he's more thought as mediocre and a better option than Timber Spruce who IS a Scrappy and arguably a Creator's Pet too.

Flash not being hated anymore is probably because they turned him into the Butt-Monkey who can never get the girl.

Is Ponychan nothing but troping real life? If so, it should be cut.

I don't know if it's just me being cranky since it is a Just for Fun page, but I find Daring Do to be the single most baffling thing on the wiki. The entire article is seriously bloated, to the point where I start to wonder when an article crosses the line from being "Just For Fun about a fictional work" to actively writing long-winded Fan Fiction on the wiki, which is probably not something we should allow.

[Begins reading] Oh this seems to just list some of the stuff we know about the book series from canon, nothing bad— [keeps reading] Uh, what? Uh, wow.

I mean, props to whomever came up with this much worldbuilding, but is there an external basis for any of it (including other fanon or even other MLP fan works) or, indeed, just stuff the author of the page invented?

Also, there apparently is a series of officially-licensed defictionalized Daring Do books, which would probably contradict a lot of the material on this page in the process, as JFF works are supposed to describe the canon information of the Show Within a Show, and I don't think embellishments can just ignore the canon.

There is a note at the end that states this:

It's a bit worrisome since it seems to be saying that you can basically add anything you want to the page and bloat it even more. The "Expanded Universe" part specifically seems to boil down to "you can write whatever here as long as you Hand Wave it".

Admittedly I don't watch MLP and I don't know how much detail of the show-within-a-show is mentioned in the actual series canon. But if people are just making up stories and plotlines out of whole cloth then this is literally just a Fan Fiction written in the form of a wiki page.

Yeah, this is definitely fanfic written with a trope page as its medium. The Daring Do novels aren't written with halfway this much detail and most of the concepts, people and events there are simply made up.

Maybe it could be moved offsite to its own wiki or something? Or it could be moved to Darth? I'd hate for all the hard work to go to waste, but it doesn't really belong here.

It used to be even worse. I remember it having YMMV, Trivia, and even Moment pages. Seems I was right, these were all cut per an ATT which sentenced that Just for Fun pages should not have subpages "to keep those articles from appearing like real works".

Things is that page is so overdone that it might still appear like a real work, nonetheless.

Well, to be fair, it's in the JFF namespace. I'm not sure it's possible for anyone to stumble upon it and think it's legit. It's not wicked anywhere and it's only really possible to get to it from the JFF index, which is hard enough to find as is since the site's navigation is ass.

It is wicked in a number of places, mostly as a Sink Hole when referring to the in-universe book series or the actual character.

Wow, well this was interesting. I say we should clarify it is not a canon work.

Several of the character pages about individual characters are folderized based on attributes ^note (Characterization and Background, Appearance, Abilities, Relationships, Other) rather than alphabetically. The pages in question are all characters listed in the Mane Cast ^note Mane Six, Spike, Starlight Glimmer, plus Discord. I previously asked the soft split cleanup thread about a similar situation on a work page, and they recommended alphabetizing as per the norm for pages. I'll be cross-posting this in that thread for more visibility.

Is that the norm now? Because I'm seeing that division pop up on many character pages.

Consensus is to alphabetize the folders. I've set up a sandbox to do that.

Odd part is, Twilight's page got folderized correctly back in December after someone pointed it out, but Theriocephalus undid it in March.
