Long ago, the multiverse, and the multiverses contained within it, were at risk of collapse.

Delegates from various universes met, trying to see if it could be prevented. But only one world seemed safe from this threat. While they theorized that the collapse could be stopped or reversed, something had to be done first.

Representatives from different worlds were sent to this safe space, the intention being that when the time was right, these brave souls would be ready to save the multiverse from destruction.

Yet there was one unforeseen consequence of this dimension-hopping. These representatives had their memories altered, and they seemed to believe themselves to be perfectly ordinary human residents of a small town called Summerside, Wisconsin. They had never felt at any point that this may not be the case- until now, when dreams begin to pour in that feel more like memories of a bygone era....

Welcome to Once Upon A Multiverse. This is an RP idea that's been kicking around in my head for a while. Initially I searched for a different GM, but I figured, hey, if you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself.

As you may have noticed, this is a crossover RP. This is not a roleplay for your OC; however, an AU version of a character that already exists would be acceptable (so, for example, a female version of Luke Skywalker or an evil Katara would be totally fine.)

The basic premise is inspired by the first season of Once Upon a Time, but only loosely, and you need no familiarity with Ou AT to enjoy this RP.

With that said, here's the information I ask for in your signup:

  • Name: Include both the character's name and the fake name their altered memories gave them.

  • Franchise: This is what your character is from. It's also where you'd specify whether or not they're an AU version of the character.

  • Appearance: A description or an image link is fine.

  • Age: In human years, please.

  • Gender/Pronouns: Because I really don't want to accidentally call Blake Belladonna a "he".

  • Species: While they'll all start off looking human, that will begin to change as the memories start to set in...

  • Backstory: Mostly for the purpose of contextualizing your character's memories.

  • Personality: Because honestly without this they'd be pretty boring.

  • Powers and Abilities: Again, these may start pouring back in as the memories return. Feel free to include other skill information, such as weapons prowess or a particular skill set unique to them.

  • Miscellaneous: Any information that doesn't fit here.

In case you're wondering, I plan on having a character of my own as well: Dr. Caitlin Snow, aka Killer Frost, from DC Comics.

May or may not work. We'll see.

  • Name:
    • Real: Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama
    • Fake: Ichirō "Mob" Mochizuki
  • Franchise: Mob Psycho 100
  • Appearance: 5'2"; normal Mob in foreground, ??? in background. Eyes are a dark reddish brown, which brightens into a glowing crimson when he's using his powers aggressively. Hair tends to blow about and float while at 100%. Otherwise plain, unremarkable appearance—even down to his completely average gait and choice in clothing. Flat affect and monotonous voice (at least until he reaches 100%).
  • Age: 14
  • Gender/Pronouns: Male, he/him
  • Species: Human (ESPer)
  • Backstory: Growing up alongside his younger brother Ritsu, Mob's early life was as normal as could possibly be for an undeveloped ESPer, despite his emotional tendencies regularly causing his psychic abilities to react and go haywire on his surroundings. With his younger brother normalizing the existence of powers despite his own lack of ability, Mob's initially ordinary and pleasant life took a turn when he and his brother were attacked by a group of bullies—who knocked Shigeo out while holding his brother hostage and inadvertently caused him to lash out with his psychic powers, injuring both them and his brother in the process. With this incident effectively scarring him, Mob began to repress his emotions in an effort to stop his powers from going haywire, and soon found himself under the tutelage of the conman "Genius Psychic of the 21st Century" Reigen Arataka, who helped Mob with sound advice regarding his predicament and steered him towards being a more kind and gentle person who wouldn't use his powers for selfish purposes. With Mob continuing to act as Reigen's protégé (and means of legitimizing his psychic business) the duo began a career working together in exorcising spirits and assisting others in supernatural affairs—even though Mob is the only one with any actual ability. With minimal pay and a rather bland persona, Mob has unfortunately ended up becoming a stepping stone for others to use for their own ends, and his control over his emotions with his age is beginning to break down...
  • Personality: On first meeting, Mob appears to live up to his dull nickname to an uncanny extent—unremarkable, monotonous, overly literal, and seeming to have a truly stubborn dislike for conflict and selfishness in others (plus a tendency to be unable to read the atmosphere). Beneath this, Mob is in fact a kinder and more gentle soul with strong moral principles and a natural instinct of right and wrong, and is quick to identify falseness in general terms even if he ends up missing the finer details inbetween. Mob is dedicated to bettering himself and developing as a more complete person rather than relying on his psychic powers, and this has translated into his powerless fake persona as someone who dislikes overreliance on external assistance—rather treating each challenge as an opportunity to become a little stronger. Mob's psychic nature and ability to sense spirits means he has little differentiation between people and spectres, and this has also influenced his morals greatly—his broader perception making him as close to the principles of the dead as to to the living. Unfortunately, Mob has a natural darker side as a result of his repressed emotions and deeper selfish desires—a side that he is unwilling to even let see the light of day, to the point where he barely even knows of its existence barring its effects on his psychic powers.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Psychokinesis: Mob possesses strong natural telekinetic abilities, able to manipulate multiple objects with great precision as well as lifting heavy items with little to no difficulty. Using this base ability he is able to not only manipulate existing objects but also craft defensive barriers around himself and others; effectively deflecting most physical and psychic forms of harm unless they are sufficiently concentrated so as to break through it. He is also able to apply this ability to his own body so as to enhance his physical capabilities, and can even lift himself in a rudimentary form of flight (though his motion sickness usually prevents him from doing this unless he's sufficiently worked up). Mob's psychokinesis can eventually drain him and render him powerless and exhausted if overused, and large or complex displays of psychic might can end up fatiguing him even quicker until they return to him (usually taking a good period of rest).
    • Psionic Energy Absorption/Projection: Mob is of the rare class of ESPer who can transfer energy to and from himself, allowing him to siphon off excess psychic power from fellow ESPers or add some of his own energy to their reserves instead. If he's feeling especially grateful towards someone, Mob's entire psychic energy supply can end up infusing into nearby person(s) and either bolstering their existing abilities or outright giving them temporary psychic powers of their own (though both parties will be drained completely by the end of it). Mob's energy tends to also include his emotions, and as such transference results in an involuntary empathic effect—causing Mob to begin reflecting the emotions of others he is transferring energy with (or vice-versa).
    • Aura Sensing: Mob can sense the auras of other ESPers in his immediate vicinity, as well as the auras of invisible spirits and other supernatural creatures—usually to the point of being able to "see" and "hear" them clearly. In this manner his powers can also apply to the invisible, as his prior exorcism job proved, and at 100% he can sometimes extend his sensing range to a much wider degree for an instant in time. Mob's own aura is one colossal yet barely controlled, and tends to leak out at the slightest possible provocation—unable to be sensed normally, but clearly perceivable by other ESPers and spirits.
    • 100%: A state of uncontrollable emotion that Mob's powers react to, usually reflecting whatever he's feeling in terms of application. For instance, 100% Rage can focus his abilities purely for combat, thus enhancing his physicality and bolstering his defensive shields significantly. 100% Gratitude can cause his energy to redirect into nearby people, bolstering their abilities or giving them some of his powers instead. 100% Shame can cause surrounding rocks and materials to engulf him in a thick shell, and so on and so forth. Mob's 100% state most notably doesn't increase his powers, merely excites them—his capabilities remain at a static point at all times, while only their application can vary depending on what he's feeling.
    • ???: An unknown phenomenon within Mob, which takes over whenever he's in extreme danger and causes his psychic powers to go haywire (most often when he's knocked unconscious in battle). In this uncontrolled state his psychic abilities lash out of their own accord, and only cease if he is calmed or loses sight of whatever has harmed him—to which ??? will recede and give control back to Mob. This phenomenon first began during the accident involving the bullies and his brother, and has only worsened after Mob started suppressing his emotions. When active, he is often rendered unrecognizable—appearing as a shadowy, chaotic being with no semblance of Mob's personality left in it.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Likes takoyaki and ramen, and has an especially strong love for milk. Dislikes cilantro, shiokara and locusts.
    • His emotional state is usually measured in percentages, representing how close he is to breaking through a specific "lock". These are rarely set in stone, however—especially strong emotions or new feelings entirely can completely bypass this so-called "percentage meter."

  • Name: Ryuko Matoi (Yui Ito)
  • Franchise: Kill La Kill
  • Appearance: here
  • Age: 17
  • Gender/Pronouns: She/her
  • Species: Human/life fiber hybrid
  • Backstory: Seconds after Ryuko was born, she was experimented on and fused with an alien species called life fibers by her mother, who had allied with the life fibers to create a clothing empire to get everyone to wear life fibers. Since it seemed that she died during the experiment, she was thrown away. However, she survived, and was taken by her father to be raised to oppose her mother, who was helping the life fibers to take over the world. She was raised with no idea about any of that, only being dragged into the whole situation by her dad's murder. She took the weapon used to kill him and searched out for his killer, eventually allying with the sentient sailor uniform he created to assist her in stopping her mom. Her attempts to find her father's murderer unknowingly brought her in conflict with her sister, who tried to forge her into a weapon to take down their mother before she could destroy the world.
  • Personality: Ryuko's most notable trait is her temper. When something makes her mad, everyone around knows. She usually gets angry when someone is being deliberately obtuse. If she asks a question, she better get an answer, or she won't hesitate to get threatening. She's also incredibly stubborn, refusing to back down even when facing someone she knows is stronger than her. If someone is in danger, or if she's just pushed far enough, she often ends up acting rashly, charging directly into a fight or just refusing to take a second to rethink her strategy. That's not to say she isn't intelligent. When not completely governed by her emotions, she can come up with pretty inventive solutions to her problems, she just prefers running forward and hitting it really hard. While she isn't shy about her body, she has little patience for perverts and will not hesitate to get violent if not given basic respect. When not pissed off, Ryuko can be very caring towards her friends, such as when her best friend was drunk off of her newfound power, Ryuko just sat back and let her beat her up until she managed to snap out of it. Even though she was close to death, she refused to even raise her weapon against her if it meant she'd be happy. This is partially because Ryuko is an incredibly lonely person. She didn't have anyone other than a distant father growing up, so she tends to hold those she trusts and likes very close.
  • Powers and Abilities: Most of her powers are only usable when she's wearing her partner, Senketsu. While she's not helpless on her own, the two together are pretty powerful.
    • Athleticism: Ryuko is in very good shape, and can hold her own in most fights. Due to her loneliness as a kid, she got into a lot of fights with other delinquents, and so has a lot of experience beating other people up. She's also quite agile and quick on her feet.
    • Life fibers: Due to the experiments she was put under as a baby, Ryuko is slightly tougher to kill than a normal person. For instance, to prove she was said baby, her mom pulled her heart out of her chest, still attached to her. She simply let it go, and the heart pulled itself back in and the wound closed almost instantly. When not being under direct attack, Ryuko can heal just about any injury in very little time. Even in the middle of a fight, she can take more punishment than most.
    • Senketsu: Created out of 100% life fibers, Senketsu is sentient and can assist in battle. When he feeds on blood, he can transform into a more skimpy look and boosts Ryuko's abilities several-fold. They become stronger, faster, better able to take hits. He's also capable of changing forms to suit Ryuko's needs, such as becoming airborne with Shippu or growing more blades with Senjin. Threads can also be removed from Senketsu to be used as a rope, such as when Ryuko wants to swing her blade around in a surprise attack.
  • Miscellaneous: Ryuko has a pair of scissors that her father built out of pure life fibers. They can grow or shrink to suit her needs, staying normal sized or growing exponentially. Of course, she has to know they're able to grow to make them anything more than normal scissors.

  • Name: Julius (Jules Larson)
  • Franchise: Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
  • Appearance: Short and thin, with pale skin, long red hair, and red eyes. He wears black robes and black boots, with large shoulder pauldrons connected to a black cape. On his forehead is a birthmark that denotes his holy blood.
  • Age: 15
  • Gender/Pronouns: He/him
  • Species: Human
  • Backstory: Julius is the son of Emperor Arvis and Deirdre, and the twin brother of Julia. By all accounts, he was a perfectly normal kid - albeit one who got sick a lot - up until Manfroy gave him the Loptous tome. See, Loptous was an Earth Dragon who'd tried to genocide humanity about a thousand years ago (no one's keeping track), but was defeated by the Twelve Crusaders. The only way he could possibly come back is if someone were born with Major Loptous blood.

...three guesses as to what Julius has, and the first two don't count.

To make a long story short: the dragon possessed Julius, killed Deirdre, tried to kill Julia, and set to work turning a formerly benevolent empire into Super Hell. And so begins the second generation, in which Seliph - son of the first generation hero - tries to save the world from a genocidal dragon - without making his father's mistakes.

  • Personality: When not being possessed (which he isn't in the safe world), Julius is a shy young man. Cautious and collected, he tries to avoid dangerous situations and is never looking for trouble. He's incredibly nervous around others, and has a tendency to flub any and every social interaction he tries - which aren't many, given both his shyness and his very low self-esteem. He does his best to be polite, though, and is a genuinely nice person.

When he is possessed is a different story. Possessed Julius (for the sake of simplicity, we'll just call him Loptous since that's who he is) certainly acts affable, and is much more apt socially. Unfortunately, Loptous is also a centuries-old Earth Dragon who loathes humanity and everything about them, and could care less about things like "collateral damage". He won't intentionally attack humans fighting on his side in a battle, but if they just happen to be killed by him...well, accidents happen, don't they? Loptous is incredibly cruel, and enjoys mocking and belittling those around him, even when he pretends to care (and he's not above personal insults, just to ensure they cut deep). He also gets very sarcastic when dealing with those he considers stupid (which is a lot of people), and refuses to take orders from those he considers below him (which is almost everyone).

  • Powers and Abilities: Julius is a mage, and can wield pretty much any Fire, Wind, or Thunder tome. He mainly, however, uses Dark magic, and his usual primary weapon is the Loptous tome. This tome not only boosts his resistance against enemy magic, but also severely weakens all attacks directed at him, to the point he only takes half the damage he should've. Downside? Using it for extended periods of time is the equivalent of screaming "I'M RIGHT HERE, READY FOR POSSESSION, COME AND GET ME!" which never ends well for anyone, including Julius himself. While he can wrangle Loptous back into place, he's usually not willing to take the risk of being taken over again at all. There's also the fact that he needs tomes to use magic - take them away and he's just an extra-squishy human.
  • Miscellaneous: Loptous is still around, sort of - he's been comatose since Julius originally entered the safe world. But with the slow return of Julius's memories comes his awakening, and with his awakening comes a whole boatload of problems. Fortunately, he's little more than a (sarcastic and spiteful) voice in Julius's head. For now.

So, let's get the Original Super Friend with most backstory here...

  • Name:

    • Real name: Toshio Eto (the superhero Samurai)

    • Fake name: Kaito Tanaka

  • Franchise: DC Comics' Super Friends and the Super Powers series. Also has some bits from actual DC.

  • Appearance: Looks around as tall as Firestorm, so I'd give him a 5' 10" height (around 1.83 m).

    • Hero self: Original Superhero Suit consists of a golden collar around the shoulders, two strips of green cloth like a jacket that leave the chest uncovered, golden belt, something between "shorts" and a loincloth, more akin to Superman's ahem, underwear in the outside. Suit later will get redesigned as a green version of the "Wind Dragon" semi-armored design.

    • Casual self: Respectable Japanese man wearing a white shirt, black jacket and black pants. Also wears green tie. Only reference image found. Pretty much has no other clothes.

  • Age: In his late 20s or early 30s. "Officially" in Summerside, 29.

  • Gender and pronouns: Male, he/his.

  • Species: Human empowered by New God energy.

  • Backstory: Toshio Eto was one of the two men chosen by the New Gods to create new heroes due to latent energy in them, the other being archaeologist Ashley Halberstam, aka Golden Pharaoh. Being a history professor in the university of Hokkaido, he was transformed into the form of a hero of the past, the legendary samurais. Taking the name Samurai, he caused a rampage due to be driven temporarily mad and then joined the Super Powers Team (Justice League).

  • Personality: Toshio is a respectful and imaginative History teacher with a great knowledge of Ancient Japanese History. He tends to be calm and tries to avoid conflict, but if driven to his extreme will kick your ass without breaking a sweat. A Cool Teacher.

  • Powers and Abilities: There is no information given in the original source if he has permanent powers after the energy blast or he can transform back and forth. Here, he shall have permanent powers but the form of Samurai and the energy sword can be transformed in.

    • Aerokinesis/Wind Control: Toshio can control, shape, and manipulate the wind in many ways. In the past, he was able to create a tornado as big as a building, but as his powers are starting to pour back he's currently mostly able to move a bench or two.

      • Tornado Move: Can make a tornado around his feet or transform himself into a tornado (always green) and control wind that way.

    • Invisibility: Toshio is able to turn himself, his clothes and anything he's holding to right before he starts invisible. Has the Required Secondary Powers in.

    • Flame Body: Toshio can transform into a fireball or change his body into fire. This does not burn any of his clothes or whatever he's holding before transforming but everything else after will burn.

    • Energy Sword: Toshio has a energy sword able to deflect any kind of energy and slice through a wall easily only when he's transformed into Samurai. Is a bit zigzaged/has spikes in it.

    • Transformation: Toshio can transform into Samurai by will. It may take any time between three seconds or a minute.

  • Miscellaneous: Once turned a giant ball of ice cream into creamy ice cream by making a tornado over it. That was one of the weirdest dreams he started having. Was best friends with Apache Chief back in his world. He does not require saying the words to use his powers. They were only dramatism.

  • Name: Gordon Freeman
  • Franchise: Half-Life(Freeman's Mind specifically)
  • Appearance: I'm a physics crunching badass. I'm the complete package!
  • Age: 27
  • Gender/pronouns: Male, he/him
  • Species: Human
  • Backstory: A native of Seattle, Washington, Freeman harbors an early interest in theoretical physics, such as quantum mechanics and relativity. He is a graduate from M.I.T, something that he often boasts to others about having earned a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. Despite this reputable degree, Freeman has a record of often being a troublemaker, being a drug addict and a alcoholic, having a friend in the black market so he can get anything illegal, live a life of partying, as he states he hits the clubs and goes out with girls regularly. Eventually he managed to get hired by Black Mesa due to the aid of seemingly harmless but actually amoral scientist Isaac Kleiner. During a test with a unknown crystal triggering a resonance cascade and unleashing aliens into the world, Freeman desperately went out to attempt to get the hell out of Black Mesa, being in desperation at his colleagues incompetence, the military wanting to kill him and being too stupid to attempt to and the scientist wanting him to save the world when he just simply wants to go home and escape.
  • Personality: A rambling, narcissistic, somewhat maladjusted physicist, Freeman has a hatred or disgust for almost everything and everyone he meets, and can go crazy in the worst possible moments. He is also a known drug abuser and alcoholic. Despite these traits though, he is surprisingly competent, not only in combat while killing people or anything science related. Despite his apathy, he doesn't harm innocents (as long as they don't piss him off or he went psycho mode) or pursue any malicious goals, though a quick way to piss him off is to mock his education or intelligence.
  • Powers and Abilities: Freeman is a normal human with no superpowers, but is quite fit for a scientist and despite his...crazyness, he has been shown to be very intelligent and has knowledge of various science subjects. His main strenght is his heavy armory he carries.
    • HEV Suit: The HEV suit is a full-body hazardous materials suit developed at the Black Mesa Research Facility. Designed for Black Mesa scientists to protect them from radiation, energy discharges, blunt-force trauma during the handling of hazardous materials, and the effects of traveling to Xen as part of Survey Teams. The suit contains an on-board computer system that constantly monitors the user's health and vital signs, but due to Freeman's annoyance of the voice it has, has disabled it.
    • Crowbar
    • Glock 17
    • MP 5
    • SPAS-12
    • Colt Python
    • 3 Hand Grenades
    • Tau Cannon: A prototype energy-based assault rifle, the Tau Cannon is a weapon developed by scientists at Black Mesa. Its advanced technology allows it to use depleted Uranium-235 as fuel.

  • Miscellaneous: Due to his memory being altered away from his experience at Black Mesa, he is currently rather tame compared to his paranoia and anger at everything he felt while stuck there, in line with his personality during the early episodes. But as his memories come back...well, expect some annoyance, frustration and anger at everything.

  • Name:
    • Real: Undyne
    • Fake: Marina Guerreiro
  • Franchise: Undertale, post-game
  • Appearance:
  • Age: Late-twenties.
  • Gender/Pronouns: She/her.
  • Species: Monster.
    • Monsters come in all shapes and sizes, but all lived in the Underground before the barrier trapping them was shattered and they reintegrated with human society. A monster's physical form is made of magic, and as a result is closely attuned to the monster's soul. While this allows monsters to pull off magical feats far beyond a normal human's capability, it also makes them more vulnerable to physical harm; if a monster possesses no will to fight, then it will be more vulnerable to attack.
    • Undyne in particular has a physiology resembling that of a human/fish hybrid. She has gills that allow her to breathe underwater, but is also at risk of dehydrating quickly in intense heat (in her 'human form', this is rationalised as an increased susceptibility to heatstroke). Should this happen, dousing her in water will help revitalise her.
  • Backstory:
    • Undyne was born in the Underground, raised in the Underground, and worked as the raddest captain of the Royal Guard in the Underground! What's the Underground? The place monsters were forced to live after a war with those stinking humans! What royalty was she guarding? Asgore, the king of all monsters, duh!
    • She used to spend her days protecting all the other monsters, training up her Guard, and putting an end to any dirty humans that found their way into her home. But then one of those nasty humans turned out to be not-so-nasty, and with the help of Undyne's awesome spear and big muscles, they broke the barrier that was keeping all the monsters trapped! So Undyne moved upstate with everyone else, and until now had been enjoying her new life alongside her dorky girlfriend Alphys.
  • Personality: Undyne is PASSIONATE and HOT-BLOODED and REALLY LIKES TO FIGHT! She has a strong sense of justice and, despite her intimidating presence, genuinely enjoys helping others. She puts 200% into everything she does and is steadfast in her beliefs. Though she could never be a pacifist herself, she has been taught the value of the philosophy- don't think that'll stop her from making fun of any big-hearted losers out there though! She's not one for puzzles or other kinds of brain-twisters, but she's a big fan of pranks and generally enjoys a teasing relationship with her friends.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Magic:
      • With her innate magic, Undyne is capable of summoning spears to aid her in battle. The more spears that she summons at once, the shorter they can exist before disappearing; for example, she could call upon a dozen spears and send them flying in a single, haphazard attack, or she could summon a single spear that would not only last longer, but be controlled with greater dexterity. Her spears are formed from a glowing blue energy, and are as sharp and durable as steel.
      • By touching allies, Undyne can grant them a shield to protect from attacks. The shield automatically forms on the person's forearm, or closest approximation of it, and is durable enough to withstand half a dozen strikes from a conventional blade. After that, it will dissipate in the same manner as her spears. Also like her spears, it is formed from a glowing green energy. Only one person can be granted this shield at a time.
    • Though her proficiency is with spears, Undyne also has experience using various bladed weapons, as part of her duties as a royal guard.
    • Undyne possesses an enhanced level of strength that allows her to lift (and suplex) a boulder with relative ease, and crack concrete with a series of punches that do no harm to her.
    • Other skills include piano playing, passionate cooking, acting as a leader, and unmatched tenacity.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Undyne loves anime. Really loves anime. She's kinda gotten it in her head that anime is factually accurate to real human history. Trying to dispel this belief has not gone well, so please do no try.
    • Undyne has a super cool and super powerful super form! ... But it only triggers upon her death, and she isn't brought back afterwards, so we're unlikely to see it here.
    • She's also got a cool-ass theme!

  • Appearance: A typical-looking high-schooler in uniform, but he's far from ordinary. Usually wears a medical mask because of his pollen allergies and has a single white streak running through his hair. Whenever Madarame is in control, his eyes turn a much deeper shade of blue.
  • Age: 15-16 ish
  • Gender/Pronouns: Male, he/him
  • Species: Human
  • Backstory:
    • Much of Akki's history is persistently unclear, whether it be through the shady cover-up attempts of his organisation, the convoluted family situation he's in, his progressively more cryptic mangaka leading us on, or all of them at once. And the collapse of the multiverse just made everything worse. What is certain, though, is that he's definitely not the person he used to be—this so-called "Akatsuki Iride" was first known as Akira.
    • Akira was born to the Inaba family, along with his younger sister, Himiko. For whatever twisted reasons there were to have, he was put up for adoption; Himiko was never even told why, only that it was apparently her fault, and so she obviously didn't take this well later in life. He eventually came into the care of the Irides, a couple who had just lost their son. It should be mentioned that Yukiko, his adoptive mother, wasn't exactly...right in the head because of this, especially because her husband died soon after in a laboratory accident. She ended up legally changing Akira's name to that of her deceased child, Akatsuki, and let him be treated as little more than a replacement doll. When he went missing later on, she would later go on to make an actual doll in his likeness, but that's straying a little from the point.
    • Growing up in this kind of situation, Akatsuki (later given the more general nickname Akki by a puzzle gamer he often collaborated with, Yuzu Roromori, who was also the sister of a friend in his research team) mostly had to find his own hobbies. Namely, escape games and RPGs; before he knew it, he'd made a name for himself in the Let's Play community. One day, he stumbled across a game called "The Ones Within - Genome" that was popular to livestream at the time. The only problem? Upon completing it, everyone who played it had been reported as missing. This didn't stop him in his usual bold nature, however, as he soon began a series of playthroughs on it.
    • Aaand what do you know—the very morning after he finished his last stream, Akki found himself waking up in an unfamiliar landscape. It looked like there was a girl knocked unconscious next to him; after waking her up and her introducing herself as Karin Sarayashiki, a horror game streamer, they both started wandering through the forest they'd been taken to. That is, until the footsteps of what sounded like a massive beast started shaking the ground behind them.
    • It turned out to be little but an oversized panda, towering higher than any normal building would. Said panda, affectionately christened "Pantaro" by Akki, eventually took them to a tower where multiple other kidnapped livestreamers were waiting, when the game master appeared; a suited man in an alpaca mask calling himself "Paca". Everything would become clear in a moment—this was the real "The Ones Within" game, and this time, there wouldn't be any continues or saves to help them.
  • Personality:
    • On the surface, Akki appears to be an optimistic and friendly young boy, sometimes to the point of eccentricity. He has a desire to end confrontations without resorting to violent means—in his words, "there's quite a lot you can do before spilling blood"—and is largely forgiving of any flaws a person might have. Regardless of the situation, he's consistently patient, remaining unfazed in the face of everything from being used as an anger outlet to nigh-apocalyptic certain destruction. Some can find his calm disturbing, for...obvious reasons. It's true that this is a fault as much it might be an advantage; considering this extends to enemies and, although such people are rare because of his general kindness, even towards those who utterly despise him, all to his own detriment. Were it not nothing but a smiling facade to hide his unfeeling nature, you might think this sense of altruism could be exploitable. It could be said that he's indirectly caused himself a bit of popularity, though that comes nowhere near erasing all the layers of suspiciousness lurking underneath.
    • Madarame is a split personality that inhabits Akki's mind for unknown reasons. Not much is known about his behaviour, but his foremost trait is wanting to protect Akki above everything, and possibly at the expense of anyone or anything else that happens to be in the way of that goal. He seems to dislike seeing him get hurt, and constantly coaxes Akki to let him take over their shared body whenever there's a possibility that something might cause his emotions to overwhelm him. Perhaps, the reason for Akki's eerily calm demeanour. Additionally, in regards to his past, it appears that Madarame knows more about the island experiment and plays an active role in the organisation behind it. He usually doesn't come out unless Akki wants him to switch.
  • Powers and Abilities: None of note; he's pretty much just a normal teenage human outside of his wits and random knowledge of genetic engineering. On top of that, he's been explicitly said to be physically weak (though he seems to be durable enough). Madarame can provide him defence against abilities that have effect on the mind if need be, but against anyone with actual superpowers, he's probably fucked without any outside assistance.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Is a bit of a victim to Cuteness Proximity; he loves animals' paws, pandas in particular.
    • Madarame won't hang around as much while he's still a complete amnesiac, he'll likely surface as the memories do.

Well, that’d be jus’ a waste. Why would ya want to deprive the world of such anomaly as yourself?

  • Name: Vito Scaletta
    • Altered Name: Victor Scaletta
  • Franchise: Mafia (video game series) with this being an AU version of him.
  • Appearance: Like this but in this universe he dresses in a black leather jacket, aviators, black jeans, and a Sisters of Mercy T-shirt.
  • Age: 25
  • Gender/Pronouns: Male, He/Him
  • Species: Human
  • Backstory: Born in Italy in 1925, Vito Scaletta immigrated to the American city of Empire Bay as a small child and spent his teen years as a juvenile delinquent before ultimately joining the United States Army in World War II, where he served as a paratrooper and took part in the liberation of Italy from Mussolini's regime. Upon returning home in 1945, he entered the life of organized crime through his friend Joe Barbaro, a low-level mobster. Eventually, Vito would rise through the ranks of the Mafia before he was eventually exiled from Empire Bay in the 1950's after a bloody gang war, and relocated to New Bordeaux in Louisiana. There, he teamed up with Lincoln Clay and together, they took down the mob boss Sal Marcano, with Vito becoming the new boss of New Bordeaux's crime family in 1968.
    • AU Backstory: Victor Scaletta was born in New York City in the early 1990's and was once a Goth and a delinquent in high school before joining the US Army and serving in Afghanistan before he eventually returned home. Now he is in Wisconsin, having recently completed his military contract and finds himself starting a new life. But he still gets these weird dreams of him being a mobster in the 1950's and 1960's. • Personality: Hot-headed and often cynical to a fault, Victor Scaletta is a quintessential bad boy and a snarker of the highest caliber. Even if it's often to his detriment.
  • Powers and Abilities: Scaletta is physically fit and has an above-average intellect, and he does have combat training due to his service in the Army. He also carries a Beretta M9 pistol.
  • Miscellaneous: Theme Song

Name: Otto Octavius/Dr. Octopus

Franchise: Marvel, more specifically from Spider-Man on PS 4.

Appearance: Otto is a slightly pudgy man with receding brown hair, and round glasses. He usually wears black slacks, sneakers, a green turtleneck and a white lab coat (which he occasionally forgets to take off). If/When the Doctor emerges, he wears a green jumpsuit with a black harness around the shoulders, black welding goggles, and black boots.

Age: 42

Gender/Pronouns: He/Him

Species: Human

Backstory: (MAYBE GAME SPOILERS) Otto Octavius was a brilliant but awkward scientist who teamed up with Norman Osborn in college to pioneer breakthroughs in robotics. Afterwards they founded the massive company known as Oscorp, but the pair split over ethical concerns with Osborn’s experiments. This seeded a deep-fueled hatred and jealousy of his old friend in Otto, believing that all of his early accomplishments had been stolen by Norman. This was also the time Otto’s work with hazardous chemicals and substances caused progressive damage to Otto’s nervous system. This countdown to total collapse only spurred Otto’s drive to help others and himself by delving into the field of prosthetics, but it also caused him to begin making mistakes out of haste.

Years later, both his medical and psychological issues began to overwhelm him. His lab intern, Peter Parker, tried to help him by doublechecking his work and helping him take his mind off Osborn as Mayor. However, this came to a head when his new invention of a neural interface for the prostheses shorted out, causing possible damage and a personality shift. He was later revealed to have orchestrated the breakout of five other villains and spread a virulent bioweapon across the city in order to bring down Osborn. Revealing himself as Doctor Octopus (though he never takes the name in-game) with a cutting-edge new set of robotic tentacles, he proceeded to wreak havoc across New York City and nearly kill Spider-man before being imprisoned in a facility for Super Villains. He also told Spider-Man that he knew he and Peter were one and the same and offered to keep that secret in exchange for his help in escaping-Peter, of course, turned him down.

RP Backstory: As far as he remembers, he’s “Mr. Otto,” the science teacher at the local community college and owner of a small electronics store in town.

Personality: Otto is a kind, friendly man with overwhelming enthusiasm and interest in science, specifically robotics/prosthetics and using science to help people. He also enjoys being a teacher and introducing young people to the wonders of Science! Somewhat awkward, but he does have a hidden temper and iron will to match his drive. Also a major arachnophobe, but he’s not sure why.

Doctor Octopus, however, is a disturbingly intelligent man with that same drive and will, but fueled by a monomaniacal desire to prove his genius and a near-sociopathic disregard for the lives of others. He is quite capable of being charming and forming strong bonds with others in order to pursue his goals and will even keep his word, but if you are seen as useless or having failed him……

Powers and Abilities: As Otto, none. If/When the Doctor emerges, he will wield a set of four cutting-edge serrated tentacles hooked into a capacitor on his back. The tentacles can reach up to twenty-five feet from being folded away. They are incredibly durable, capable of tearing apart most materials, as fast as thought, and able to make delicate motions and adjustments. Driven by his mind, they cannot be disrupted or manipulated against him.

Skills: Otto is an acknowledged genius in the fields of mechanical engineering, robotics, prosthetics, anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, and neuroscience.

Miscellaneous: He’s been tinkering with….something in his basement. It’s early days but who can say what he’s building?

  • Name: Son Gohan

  • Altered Name: Johnathan Saiya

  • Franchise: Dragon Ball Z

  • Appearance: Relatively short, with long spiky black hair that sticks out at irregular angles. More muscular than one would expect for a nerdy kid like him.

  • Age: 11

  • Gender: He/Him

  • Species: Human/Saiyan hybrid

  • Backstory: Gohan is the son of the world’s most powerful man, Son Goku. Raised in the mountains by his father and mother Chi-Chi, Gohan never really questioned why he had a tail under an alien invader named Raditz came to Earth, claiming to be his uncle. Gohan is a descendant of a brutal warrior race called the Saiyans, whose planet was destroyed by Emperor Frieza in an act of almost complete genocide. After his father sacrificed himself to kill Raditz, Gohan was trained for a year by his father’s enemy, a supposed demon named Piccolo, to prepare for an invasion by two more Saiyans. Though Gohan and his revived father managed to repel the Saiyans, many lives were lost in their attack, Piccolo included. After an encounter with Frieza on the planet Namek, Piccolo and the others were revived and Earth was at peace...for a few years. Androids created by a destroyed paramilitary organization soon appeared to threaten the Earth, and Gohan and his father were forced with the impossible task of achieving a years’ worth of training in one day to stand up to their power. As such, they entered a room known as the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where Gohan’s training began...

  • Personality: Gohan is mostly a pacifist by nature, preferring to settle things peacefully if possible. He’s quick to befriend others and doesn’t judge people for anything. Spending a year being trained by the supposed embodiment of God’s evil will make one pretty tolerant. Gohan does, however, have a temper. When he sees someone hurting others, his anger flares up and takes the form of explosive rages. While Gohan doesn’t just hurt indiscriminately when angry, he does drop all attempts at pacifism in exchange for a burning desire to hurt the evildoer. He can go from a scared child to kicking a galactic emperor in the face within seconds. Despite this, Gohan is also very book smart and clever, quickly deducing things about his opponents and surroundings that might not be immediately apparent to others. He has both brains and strength, and can use both in equal measure.

  • Powers and Abilities:

Ki Manipulation: Gohan can channel the metaphysical energy in his body to boost his strength, speed and endurance. He can also use this energy to fly or project it outwards as energy blasts, beams, waves and even explosions. Ki is a finite resource and using too much without resting can wear Gohan out.

Ki Sense: Gohan can sense the energy in other living beings, allowing him to gauge their location and strength from a distance. Ki is also influenced by someone's morality, meaning that intense enough evil can be sensed in someone's energy by a highly trained warrior. Gohan can use this ability to track people moving too fast for the eye to see by sensing which direction their energy is coming from, acting almost as a "sixth sense" when detecting living beings. Robots and similarly mechanic creatures, for the most part, have no ki to sense and thus Gohan's ki sense cannot detect them. Cyborgs are...at best, a toss-up.

Great Ape/Oozaru: Gohan used to have a monkey tail, resulting from his Saiyan DNA. While the tail was intact, looking at the full moon would cause Gohan to transform into a giant, berserk ape-like monster known as an Oozaru. Fortunately, Gohan’s tail was removed years ago by Piccolo and was never restored.

Super Saiyan: A legend among the Saiyan race, it is said that a Super Saiyan only appears once every thousand years. A form initially triggered by rage, it grants Gohan a massive boost in power and turns his hair into a shining golden blond. While the form also causes a more impulsive and aggressive mindset in the user, part of Gohan’s training with his father was working on adapting their bodies to the form in the hopes of keeping calm and not draining their energy while using it.

Super Saiyan 2: While training, Gohan’s father Goku claimed he was striving for a “a power beyond Super Saiyan.” While Goku never achieved this new level during their training, he believes that Gohan had, though the boy remains unaware of his sleeping power. A Super Saiyan 2 boasts capabilities twice as potent as a Super Saiyan, but their emotional state is further devolved into that of a ruthless, brutal fighter.

  • Miscellaneous: Gohan’s Super Saiyan form can be triggered by intense rage, and it is possible for him to briefly transform and not notice it. It’s been shown that a sufficiently angry Saiyan’s hair might flash gold before returning to black if they are angered. This typically happens once or twice before the full transformation takes hold.

Is pretty heavily traumatized from his encounters with his uncle Raditz, the Saiyan Nappa, the ruthless Ginyu Force and their boss, Emperor Frieza. As his memories return, this kid is gonna have some serious issues. Not to mention abandonment problems - his dad was hardly ever around until he was about 7 years old.

I’m thinking Johnathan Saiya? A reference to the show’s English dub where his grandpa references wanting to name him “Johnny Oxseed” (long story) and another reference to the Great Saiyaman, his future superhero persona.

Actually workshopping different first names (gonna keep Saiya 'cuz I at least like that part) since ngl I came up with John in about ten minutes while trying to make it a clever reference to the English dub...

EDIT: Came up with Piccolo Saiya, the false memories naming himself after his mentor. I kinda like this better but it's still up in the air.

  • Name: Spinel
    • Fabricated Name: Nelle Balastone
  • Franchise: Steven Universe, way before the canon story, though.
  • Appearance: The jolly jester
  • Age: Less than 6000 years old. Gem lifespans are crazy like that.
  • Gender/Pronouns: Technically sexless, but uses "she/her" pronouns.
  • Species: Gemnote
  • Backstory:
    • Spinel was created to be the servant/playmate of Pink Diamond (one of the Diamonds, the matriarchs and rulers of the spacefaring Gem empire), after her first one got "broken" by her. Spinel's only purpose was to be Pink's best friend and to entertain the lonely, childlike Diamond.
    • While Pink Diamond and Spinel had a fun time at first, the former eventually felt like moving on, and, when she finally had her colony in the form of Earth, she decided to play one last game with her "best friend". This game consisted of taking Spinel to her personal garden and then leaving her there to wait for her favorite Diamond to return. Her best friend will totally return...won't she?
  • Personality: Spinel is a child at heart. She is playful and energetic. She is innocent and light-hearted, and will form really strong bonds with the ones she deems her best friends, and will try to do everything to make them happy. She is pretty clingy, though, in the likeness of a Yandere, and won't be amused if one of her "best friends" decides to abandon them even for a second, though she'll forgive them if they quickly apologize for it, quickly moving on as if nothing happened.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Gem Physiology: Spinel has above average/superhuman strength, speed and durability. Her body is a light hologram with mass that's projected from her gemstone. And because of this, she can shapeshift (altough forms with more mass relative to her default humanoid form can be harder to maintain) and regenerate her physical form if lethally injured (it usually takes some weeks to regenerate properly). Her physical form adapts to the current environment's gravity and air pressure. She can encase objects in bubbles and store them in her gemstone. She can use her gemstone as some kind of flashlight, by projecting light from it. She is immortal, but she is done for if her gemstone gets shattered.
    • Elasticity: Her rubbery body is flexible and malleable in a cartoon-like fashion. She can stretch her body to great lengths, inflate parts of her body, and flatten herself up and slither around in an almost liquid-like state.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • If she's experiencing extreme negative emotions, she might temporarily lose her physical form and regenerate into a more toxic version of herself.
    • Her "Summerside" self still retains a bit of her original flexibility, possibly being some kind of contortionist.

With quarantine in full swing and graduation on the way, I think I'm gonna actually come back and take another shot at doing some RPs.

  • Name: Edward "Eddie" Brock and Venom
  • Franchise: Marvel Universe; Main inspiration taken from The Sam Raimi films, Venom and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but is largely a fresh take.
  • Appearance: A stocky, blond male with short hair, often seen wearing jeans with a heavy jacket. Always looks a little grumpy despite his personality, and seems a little jumpy.
  • Age: Eddie is 24, while Venom is said to be 3.
  • Gender/Pronouns: Eddie and Venom are both he/him. The bonded Venom is he/they/it.
  • Species: Eddie is a human male, and Venom is a black lab. Actually, Venom is a Klyntar symbiote that latched onto a golden retriever right before Eddie's memories wore off, and has been a guardian to him since.
  • Backstory:
    • Eddie Brock is a journalist for the Daily Bugle, reporting on new stories and slowly climbing the ranks. However, new hire Peter Parker seemed to gets as high as Eddie did with much less work, all because he can mysteriously get perfectly posed photographs of the new hero Spider-Man, which his boss J. Jonah Jameson was wanting for a while. He digs deep and gets info, eventually piecing together a crackpot theory that Peter and Spider-Man are one and the same. He follows Peter, and watches as his theory was proven right before his eyes. However, that was the night that Peter tore off his symbiote suit, and, after the altercation, he bonded with it, and with the symbiote's rejection-fueled hate and Eddie's jealousy and information, they formed into the Anti-Villainous being known as Venom!
    • Venom is a symbiotic being from the planet Klyntar, a semi-peaceful planet. After a wrong and wacky attempt at space travel with a fellow Klyntar, the duo crash land on Earth, separated in the process. Venom, the more morally guided and civil of the two goopy aliens, latches on to a wild horse and approaches civilization, aiming to leech on to and blend in with the nearest human being. Unfortunately for Venom, the nearest human being was Wade Wilson, known better as Deadpool. After a night that the being struggles to remember, Venom detached from Wade as a much more unhinged and emotion-driven being with an odd obsession for the wall-crawling hero Spider-Man. After a stressful day of crime-fighting, the hero ends up bonding with the symbiote, having his personality temporarily altered as a result. However, the symbiote's personality is also altered, and after the bond becomes somewhat closer to his old self, but now with his Spider-Man obsession jacked to 11 due to the untimely rejection.
    • As Venom, the duo fight Spider-Man numerous times, before the symbiote's former partner resurfaces as Carnage, having bonded to crazed killer Cletus Cassidy. After Venom and Spider-Man team up to fight Carnage, Venom develops an oddly strenuous friendship and rivalry with the being he has obsessed over for so long, and obtained a neutral position on the morality chart, with his main goal being to best, but not kill, the wall-crawler. He has since then been a sort of wild card, most recently working with the piratey forces of Ruby Heart to take down the multiverse-crashing villain Abyss, teaming up with Spider-Man and the Master Of The Fist, Akuma, in a three-man strike team.
  • Personality:
    • Eddie Brock is a man of confident insecurity. He's jumpy, easily afraid, and a little uneasy and antisocial, yet is a brave, inquisitive mind who can dig deep for a story and surprisingly hold his own in situations of stress and conflict. He has a strong moral compass, and is always a champion for the right thing, even if his methods aren't the best.
    • Venom is a uber-protective guard dog, being a big lap dog to Eddie and others he trusts. He's very violent to those he's unfamiliar with, snapping easily, especially in times of stress or danger, and will stop at nothing to make sure that he and his owner are safe. He is a wild card, capable of both kindness and evil depending on his mood and who he's with. He's also a dog of an infinite stomach and a even larger appetite, and Eddie often has to stop him from eating foreign objects.
    • The completed Venom takes the best and worst of both of it's components, being a "lone wolf" type with his own twisted, yet positive, morality. They are still a wild card, yet are more predictably protective and ethical than they symbiote by itself. They often talk to themselves, forming a plan between Eddie and the symbiote, but it seems like garbled Black Speech that's over in an instant. They are led on by hunger, whether that be for flesh or a good borgar, which is a constant struggle for the being. They seem to be kind but harsh to those they know and care about, and ruthless to those that stand in their way.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Combined Form: Whatever the symbiote is bonded to has two forms: The original host body with no changes, and a Combined Form, where the symbiote's appearance washes over the host body and they gain a number of abilities.
      • Body Manipulation: The Combined Form can change it's size, shape, and certain body parts to take on a number of modified forms and have many combat and non-combat uses.
      • Telepathy: the Combined Form has mild telepathy, with it being able to communicate between symbiote and host, as well as between symbiotes and other ESP-attuned individuals.
      • Symbiote Physiology: The symbiote allows for multiple boons to it's host that exponentially increase as the combined form is activated. Of these include mild ESP, immunity to detection by other ESP sources, surface adhesion, increased strength, durability, and stamina, and a mild healing factor.
      • Webbing Generation: The Combined Form can generate webbing from it's form, with enough tensile strength to trap opponents, transport Venom from place to place, or act as temporary rope.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Venom's favorite food that isn't flesh is hamburger meat. He really likes taco seasoning.
    • Eddie has a degree in journalism.
