So, it's been told that first person writing is not allowed on wiki articles. And now we have an Administrivia page for First-Person Writing providing further details.
The huge undertaking for this is that first person entries are rampant out there; more in Fridge, Headscratchers, WMG, and Gush articles. A lot of them are very old, and there is no absolute idea on who wrote it. It gets worse that it's written on thread mode aagreeing or disagreeing on that paragraph, using "This troper...", and in troper tales format.
So, it goes without saying that this is an opportunity to start a cleanup for first person writing in wiki articles.
Such cleanup will need the following recommendations:
- DMOS threads get a pass, as long as they have signatures written.
- Do not use signatures in speculative pages.
- When removing first person entries outside of quotations, reword the entry while keeping the original meaning.
- Remove an entry if it's mainly on troper tales.
To spread awareness to this thread, consider the following:
- Check the page's history;
- Track down every troper who used first person writing;
- Check their edit history;
- If they had any recent activity of at least 4-6 weeks, contact them that they had used first person writing of said page, and link them to this thread.
So, yeah.

Found these two examples in Heartwarming.DigimonAdventure02:
- This troper found the uniting power of an entire planet's worth of Chosen Children right at the end of the second series tugged at the heartstrings quite a bit.
- This troper as well. A lot of people deride that scene, but it's amazing when you realize just how well-set-up that was- the only requirement to be made a Digidestined is to see a Digimon, and it's likely that, just like the new protagonists of 02, all those kids were supporting Tai and company against Diaboromon. Every single one. And then they get repaid in full by becoming chosen kids themselves and taking an active role in the final battle.
Then, in the main Heartwarming.Digimon page:
- Listening to the amazing ambient music of File City at night and then letting the digimon sleep won Digimon World a place in my childhood.
I have removed This Troper from the examples on Adventures 02. The World example on the main Heartwarming page has had to be removed entirely, since it's not only gushy and contains first person writing, it also relies on a link to a Youtube video that is no longer available to understand the context.
Hope this helps.
That's better now.
he/himApologies for the double-post, but I found this in the Legion of Doom example of Ride.Disney Theme Parks:
- Walt Disney World currently has the villains in a "Halloween Villain Mix and Mingle." Maleficent and Captain Hook seem to be an item (?!), and Frollo is there again, dancing. Hey, Frollo! I thought you didn't enjoy these kinds of festivals?!
It doesn't appear to be an example of the trope in the first place.
Makes sense. I've already cut the whole example plus another one below it.
he/himOn Mirrors
- Magic Mirror: Please don't tell me you need this one explained to you.
- Mirror Monster: Or this one.
- Mirror Scare: Or this one. (It's even obligatory here because of the premise.)
Did you go to the wrong thread? Those are ZCE, not First-Person writing.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt says "please don't tell me." But yes, it's also a ZCE

—signature not found—I missed that one, but it doesn't really come off as FPW to me. As in, it doesn't feel like a troper speaking as themselves, but I could be wrong.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDid we ever get clarification on whether first-person writing is allowed on gush pages?
There is a clarification to it that we can, though I'm baffled on why is not required to sign it compared to DMOS?
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔Because DMOS is a lot more contentious and needs stricter enforcement.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessFound this in YMMV.Wario Ware;
- "Cruise Controller": Beat the game in 1 minute and 5 seconds? That doesn't sound so bad...wait, what do you mean I have to complete it at maximum speed almost the entire time? And I'm only allowed 1 mistake?
Here's a suggestion for a rewrite:
The Cruise Controller achievement requires you to beat the game in just 65 seconds. That may not sound so bad, but to pull it off, you would need to be at top speed for almost the entire run, without making more than a single mistake.

I've inserted it into the page. Thanks.

he/himFridge.Calvin And Hobbes has many examples of the words "I" and "me".
For every low there is a high.You can rewrite it, unless you need help.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔Removed this on Fridge.Code Geass:
- Everyone says the Euphinator Incident was a Shocking Swerve. It was foreshadowed, though. Honestly I knew something very, very wrong was going to happen in that meeting. I also knew the Geass was starting to act beyond Lelouch's will when he almost geassed someone by accident, and I knew Mao's Geass simply never stopped. But I wasn't expecting this to happen. I expected Euphie to get the Clovis treatment. And then, that's the beauty of it, the show completely distracts us from that sense of doom and even the sense of narrative logic. Eupohie's unexpected display of competence was so surprising, and she was so sweet, she talked both the viewers and Lelouch into lowering our guard, and forgetting that the story advancing from there would suck... while on the other hand busying our minds with the myriad unexpected possibilities their deal opened. I for one was starting to imagine a Pendragon arc, with lots of Decadent Court scheming and deception and drama and... And then, when our head is in the coulds and our hearts open... the writers strike with a traitorous, cruel backstab. With minimal effort, all that castle of cards tumbles down. And the original plot (Zero VS Britannia, Lelouch VS Suzaku) is not just Reset Button ed, it's reinforced. Brilliant, I say. Slightly lazy, but brilliant nonetheless.
Is this a valid entry that can be rewritten?
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportNot sure, but maybe at least rewrite the first-person?
I've also found more entries with first-person on that page.

he/himThe image caption for Men Are Generic, Women Are Special is written in first person. Here's a rewrite of it:
"See? That's what female vegetables look like! Remember that the next time you're at the grocery store."
The best character is always the one-shot disguise.Eh, I feel like the joke excuses it.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Uhh...I thought first-person was allowed in image captions?
he/himDidn't know that.
The best character is always the one-shot disguise.
Sorry, yeah, that would make sense.
