What the fuck is even going on down there in ASAS? I'll do it, but this seems questionable.
Hiei's an edgelord but he's actually great (by the end), ight, if doesn't threaten to stab you for hugging him first. And well, to sum it up quickly he has as much stuff going on as any main shonen character would, so if that's a reason more in your tastes then be my guest.

Fantine has had a hard life. She was abandoned by her lover and ended up having to give up her daughter because she couldn't care for her. When her boss, who'd been harassing her, found out she was an unwed mother, he fired her. She was forced to sell her hair, some of her teeth, her prized locket, and eventually, her own body in order to raise enough money for her and her daughter's expenses. On top of that, it's winter, and she has nothing warm to wear. She could really use a hug.
