Per Ask The Tropers, this thread will be used to reduce the number of old, poorly written drafts on the Trope Launch Pad
. We don't want to discuss on the drafts themselves because that will bump them and mix them with active proposals.

The first sandbox page above contains drafts proposed in the thread that are still pending and drafts that we've decided to leave alone, either with no action or a bump.
The second sandbox page is for awful drafts but viable ideas. According to moderators, badly written but interesting/tropeworthy drafts should remain on the TLP. Rather than allow low-effort drafts to clog TLP, though, the salvage yard was opened to keep just the ideas behind them, in one place.
On this thread, we will mention which drafts we think are unworkable, add enough bombs, and discard (nuke) them. Discarding requires at least 5 bombs. Among the features of "unworkable" drafts:
- There have been no edits for a very long time, or at all
- The draft is low-effort, containing atrocious spelling and grammar and/or little to no examples, e.g. NEVER saw THAT coming (!), Nut-Chuks
- The draft was seemingly created so the sponsor could complain
- The topic is People Sit on Chairs, Too Rare to Trope, a search query created by mistake, etc. and therefore not tropeworthy
- The topic is already sufficiently covered by one or more tropes or is a duplicate of a better-written TLP draft
- The draft is problematic in other ways, such being closely tied to a page that has been historically problematic, e.g. Fetish Fuel, Complete Monster
- There's no discussion currently occurring in the comments to improve the proposal
If we decide to discard a draft after discussion via this thread, whoever does so must provide the discard reason in the comment section of the draft, for transparency's sake. Those looking at the discards section won't think it was nuked for no reason.
Also, check out the sister project, Trope Adoption Drive, where good drafts put Up for Grabs or abandoned can be grabbed, given a bit more improvement, and launched.

Honestly, I have no clue what's even going on with that concept anymore other than "it's not working for a few different reasons." But the old version feels like it's just listing several deadly flavors of Tempting Fate, has enough hats to open a millinery shop, and is somehow still stalling harder than a plane that's perpendicular to the ground, so I'm in favor of a discard on the off chance it refocuses attention to the newer draft. We're probably going to need mod input for that, though.
For the thread's consideration: several drafts that just don't feel up to snuff.
- Eye Roll: TLP comments have brought up that having a Definition-Only Page for an action that's "universal, exists in real life, and has one and only one application" is fairly pointless and the potential for it to be used as a Pothole Magnet for tropers' reactions.
- Fatally Swallowed Whole: Concerns about the concept just being "something dies because it's eaten" and The Same, but More Specific to Eaten Alive and Swallowed Whole.
- The Enigma And The Tagalong: Has potential (and could be added to the Trope Idea Salvage Yard), but the restriction to adolescents is unnecessary and makes it redundant to Cool Kid-and-Loser Friendship.
- Sonic Shockwave: Concept is "Gale-Force Sound, but more destructive".
- Why Me Exclamation: Violates No New Stock Phrases, as it's about characters uttering the phrase "why me?" Can be added to the salvage yard as "Butt-Monkey bemoans their bad luck", though.
- Badly Built Bat Wings: Complaint magnet that doesn't actually affect how bats are portrayed in media beyond making it easier to design fictional bats.
- Celebrity Protagonist: Instantly-abandoned stub.
- His Britannia: Abandoned workpage stub; draft creator attempted to make a proper page with it (Fanfic.Code Geass His Britannia), but it was likewise cut for being a stub.
- Second Banana: Misplaced attempt to create a redirect to Always Second Best.

- Music Reconstruction: Don't we even have it already? Either way, it's got enough bombs to be discarded.

This TLP is a WIP work page that got launched by someone else: Project Arrhythmia

Back in June 2020, it had been declared in this thread that the Fantastic Species Changing draft is to be nuked for allegedly being "literally the same thing as Metamorphosis", and this decision was carried out.
Fast forward to today, when I had just discovered that someone had (seemingly independently) made their own TLP draft of practically the same concept and managed to get it launched as Magical Species Transformation in August 2022, with not a single mention of Metamorphosis was made in the TLP discussion.
Can someone explain to me the stark difference in treatment between the two cases? As far as I can tell, and putting aside the obvious absence of plagiarism, Magical Species Transformation has no meaningful difference from what my TLP draft was about.

To me, Magical Species Transformation looks like a Sub-Trope of Metamorphosis. They are both about permanent transformations, but Magical Species Transformation has the additional requirement of transforming into a magical or mythical species.
- Battlefield Negotiations: Abandoned and untouched (including comments) since 2012.
- Breakup Album: A The Same But More Specific trope to Break-Up Song, abandoned and untouched since 2012.
- Written For Another Actor: Not really distinct from What Could Have Been, abandoned and untouched since 2012.
- Neurotic Suicidal Boyfriend: Similar to Uptight Loves Wild and Manic Pixie Dream Girl. The title is misleading; only one of the examples has a "suicidal" character, the rest are simply neurotic and/or uptight. The draft has been untouched since 2013.
- Petty Generosity: Abandoned stub since 2013 (if you count the inversion as not an example).

I brought this up on the draft about a month ago to not much of a response, so I’ll bring it up here: should Death Flag
just be nuked at this point? The idea has already been transferred to an alternate draft
(albeit one that isn’t doing too well), so the only thing the original has going for it as this point is its absurd number of hats. With only 8 examples, it’s far from ready, and I highly doubt it will ever be after lingering around for over 13 years.
