- Overshadowed by Controversy: The whole thing with Epic Games refusing to sell DARQ unless they could do so exclusively made Wlad Marhulets a hero to PC gamers for refusing to break his promise to give the game a Steam release, but it came to heavily overshadow most other discussion about the game itself.
This seems more like a side issue from a Vocal Minority than a big controversy. It also doesn't help that it was added alongside the page on September 11th, 2019. Not even 6 months after the game's August release.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Whack it.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Okay I've got a weird one. From YMMV.Vinesauce:
- Overshadowed by Controversy: Pretty much everything good that happened for Vinesauce in 2015note was completely overtaken by Joel's channel being hijacked in November. Considering how much panic and exaggeration there was on TV Tropes and other Vinesauce sources during the time, you'd be surprised to known that it lasted for slightly over a week and didn't have too much at stake (for one, the hijacker was a lot less threatening than originally thought to be; for example, Joel's full stream channel was completely unaffected).
Now usually we clean out non-controversies that didn't overshadow anything. But this is a controversy that overshadowed...Vinesauce in 2015? Is that really something that can be overshadowed, or is thought about enough to be? Also there were plenty of great videos the channel made that year (I've watched them since around 2014/2015-ish) so I doubt this even overshadows anything to begin with.
Other thoughts?

"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”I am admittedly a very recent late-comer, but this site and editors' gratuitous shoehorns of that episode, some of which I've had to clear out myself, are literally the only reason I even know that event happened. I've seen zero mention of the incident on social media or any of the videos and their comments sections. So yeah, get rid of it, because as far as I can tell, nobody even remembers it enough for it to overshadow anything.

I've contemplated removing that point for a while, since it felt like a shoehorn, but was afraid to bring it up given my past history with the Vinesauce subpages (which I do genuinely regret). Now that it's been brought up, I'd say cut it.
As for why the channel hijack hasn't been talked about since 2015, I'd say that much of it rests on the unofficial community-wide pact to not bring it up unless it's absolutely necessary, so as to respect the wishes of the streamers and not bring unneeded attention to the perpetrator.
Be kind. Thanks everyone, I've taken the entry out.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThe entry on Cyberpunk 2077 is such a wall of text that I've decided to try clean up.
- It's impossible to bring up Cyberpunk 2077 without addressing its criticism, both legitimate and unwarranted. First announced in 2012 and teased by CD Projekt Red in 2013, the game was marketed as a cutting edge open-world First-Person Action RPG with simulation systems and a branching storyline, with the reveal trailer and the 2018 E3 gameplay trailer receiving heavy praise and turning the game into one of the most anticipated games of the 2010s. However, behind the scenes the game had a Troubled Production, in which developer CD Projekt Red was involved in poor and myopic management, massive crunch culture and mistreatment of staff membersnote , and in order to compensate and hide the production problems, they focused primarily on marketing the game. After various delays, the game was finally released in December 10, 2020, and fans were quick to discover the overwhelming amount of bugs, glitches and cut features in the game, with console versions being (nearly) unplayable Porting Disasters, leading to a huge backlash against CD Projekt Rednote . Sony and Microsoft eventually allowed people to refund the game (with Sony downright removing the game from the PS store) and CD Projekt Red issued a video apology where they promised to fix the console versions. However, the backlash remained, and various shareholders filed a lawsuit against CD Projekt Red for lying about the state of the game before release. Even with most of the major problems being fixed post-launch, the opinion on this game is still mixed.
I haven't checked back on the Cyberpunk discourse in a while so I don't know what the state of it is, but if I were to shorten that point I'd write something like this:
- It is impossible to bring up Cyberpunk 2077 without mentioning the highly buggy state it launched in despite its eight-year, crunch-heavy development. While CD Projekt briefly recalled digital releases of the game and started releasing patches to fix the bugs, the matter got big enough to lead to shareholders suing the company for false advertising.
From personal recollection, most of the controversy rests on the idea of it having turned out sloppy despite the nature of its development cycle (since "delays and overworking" are usually associated with uncontrolled perfectionism), so I chose to focus on that with this rewrite.

Be kind.Found this in the animated movies folder:
- The 2019 Spanish animated feature Elcano & Magellan: The First Voyage Around the World, based on the voyage of the Portuguese explorers of the same name (culminating in the Battle of Mactan), prompted major backlash in the Philippines, largely due to the poster showing Lapulapu (a native chief who participated in the battle and is widely revered as an anticolonialist hero in the Philippines) in a decidedly villainous light. The backlash was to the point that many petitioned to ban the movie in the country. The studio in charge seems to have gotten the hint, as they released a redesigned version of the poster where Lapulapu is replaced with an original Portuguese character named Yago. As it turns out, the original poster was rather inaccurate, as Yago is the main antagonist of the movie and Lapulapu is little more than a glorified background character. In a review of the movie, a Rappler columnist bluntly pointed out a Double Standard in criticism of such historical dramas, where he noted how the producers of the 2013 religious historical drama Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir had no qualms about portraying the Chamorro people as barbaric savages who slayed Calungsod for his missionary work—the film was universally praised in the Philippines, and was unsurprisingly panned by the Chamorros in Guam.
Emphasis added. I don't think this part is necessary, and it seems pretty agenda-pushing to me.

Yeah, cut that.
On the same page, this got added:
- Literally the only thing the general public knows about the otherwise critically-acclaimed The Perry Bible Fellowship is that the term "weeaboo", a mocking term for western fans of anime & manga, originated from it. In the webcomic, it had no meaning other than something unpleasant, but a 4chan admin that was a fan of the strip made a word filter change the then more common term "wapanese" into weeaboo as a joke, and it spread from there.
Is this really a controversy?
No it isn't. I barely remembered that that's where the term came from. Cut.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallNot a controversy, just weebs being overly sensitive as usual.
Besides, it's the fault of the 4chan user, not the comic.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Yeah, I'm not even sure that entry's true. I had a vague notion that "weeaboo" originated from 4chan, but I couldn't have traced it beyond that, and I'm pretty sure the same goes for most members of the "general public" (and that's assuming they even know that much.)
Well, it is on Wikipedia, with a source.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”I had no idea "weeaboo" came from that comic. I know the comic mostly for its frequent appearance on this wiki.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I've heard there was a big expose at the beginning of the year that revealed cartoonish levels of corruption with the Golden Globe Awards, including a long history of racial prejudice and, most damningly of all, confirming the longstanding rumors that the organization that runs them accepts bribes in exchange for nominations, and now there's very real speculation that they might be shuttered for good since no network wants to air them anymore. That certainly sounds like a legitimate example to me, but does anyone know more?
I think it counts. As far as I know, people see the Golden Globes as a Poor Man's Version of the Oscars and Emmys, due to a history of questionable nominations
I say go for the Golden Globes example, but not now. This May is when the backlash started picking up steam with those boycotts and NBC pulling out of the 2022 ceremony, so I say slot it in November.
UPDATE: On second thought, you could add the GG example right now because all the stuff about the Academy getting bribes was already public knowledge before the backlash. (Pia Zadora, anyone?) The stuff about the racism can be added later.

Is nobody going to ask that SpongeBat1 called anime fans the W-word? Besides, I want to object to my entry being cut. That's literally the only thing The Perry Bible Fellowship is known for. It's mostly, albeit barely, known for inventing "the W-word", but even fewer people know that the "W-word" was actually not a invention of 4Chan, but rather appropriated from Fellowship by 4Chan users.

I assumed they were just poking fun at that.
(Don't) take me home. Then is it really overshadowed by the "invention" of "weeaboo" if people don't even know that's where the word originally came from?
Besides, I mostly know it for the NSFW Charlotte's Web parody (cuz it spread on Tumblr with like, 84k notes).
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
I feel like the dust has settled and even Disney fans are like "whoa cool!" At worst it's a Broken Base between GOTG fans and Tower of Terror fans.
