Interest Check ~ Main ~ Discussion

THIS RP HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING SIGNUPS.

Ms. Anita Torre couldn't help but find the nature of this world disturbing. Ever since she'd arrived here years ago, she'd found its nature disturbing. In some ways, it just seemed mashed together haphazardly from the bits and pieces of other worlds. What really got her, however, was how it seemed to draw in girls much like herself from all across the multiverse, with no rhyme or reason, and without giving them any way to return home.

She herself had been one of those misplaced girls; she knew that sort of pain all too well. She'd tried her best to help everyone else she'd met adjust as best she could, but she couldn't help everybody. And now that she had reached old age, the amount of people she was able to help was dropping more and more each passing day. What could she do?

Then, something occurred to her: All those misplaced girls couldn't return home, and with this world being so unfamiliar to them they were going to have problems finding a substitute. Maybe she could provide that substitute; a sort of place where the misplaced could gather and help each other manage. A place from where they could return to after helping others. A place that, perhaps, could help them put an end to all the inter-dimensional kidnapping.

A sort of Guild.

It would take a lot of work for her to set it up. A lot of the money for it would have to come out of her own pockets, and finding people willing to work with her would be quite the hassle. But the benefits would be worth it, and hopefully her Guild would be around even after she'd passed away. If she was really lucky, maybe the misplaced would break the seal that bound them here and be able to return home at last within her lifetime.

She had a plan now. Time to put it into action.

Hello and welcome to the Guild of Friendship Magical Girl Crossover RP! The premise of this RP is that Magical Girls from all across the dimensions are getting dragged into a new world for some unknown reason. With the help of Ms. Torre and her titular Guild, it's up to the girls to find out just who's behind all this and what's driving them. Perhaps they could even solve some of this world's problems along the way; after all, isn't it in the nature of most magical girls to try and help people?

By "crossover," any magical girl character is fair game. Canon characters and OCs alike are fair game; you can even make up a character specifically for the RP if that's your fancy.

     Basics of the Setting
It’s basically Earth with a loose masquerade of assorted abnormalities, often connected to the girls who are brought in. The abnormalities are not necessarily unified and the masquerade as a whole is rather inconsistent; some parts of it are really well hidden and try to, other parts don’t even care about remaining hidden, and the rest are somewhere in between.

Magical girls fall somewhere in the middle of the continuum. Before the guild started there was no indication of their existence; if they were around before they certainly didn’t make an effort to show themselves. With the guild up and running, it is up to them as to whether or not to remain hidden.

Most magical girls get to this world from somewhere else. That is, they usually aren't native to the world; they come from some other place and find themselves here through whatever weird happening. In accordance with this, the rules for magic are wildly inconsistent and vary from person to person. Some can use magic naturally with no need for anything more; some need to transform first (with the means for this also varying wildly from person to person); and still others rely on some other means.

For whatever reason, the magical girls that arrive here usually already have their powers. For the unlucky few who arrived powerless or for those girls who lived in this world at the start without gaining any powers, the means of getting them are just as varied but often rather complicated. With all the weirdness the girls are sharing the setting with, however, it may not be as difficult as it sounds.

To begin with, the world’s not well defined. The idea is mostly to make up locations and other facets of the world as we go along, depending on what we deem necessary.

The only truly defined area at the start is the guild building itself and its immediate surroundings.

The guild building itself is some weird mix of a job office, a fancy hotel, and a martial-arts school. From the outside, it’s a two story building constructed mostly of concrete that bears a vague resemblance to a Victorian mansion. Its most defining trait is the fact that it covers a remarkably large area and is also decidedly tall despite only having two floors.

The front doors open into the lobby, a large room that looks somewhat like a hotel lobby. On the walls are numerous bulletin boards with reports of various happenings pinned onto them. Along the back are desks staffed by various attendants, whose job is to provide information about the building itself and maybe elaborate on things on the bulletin boards.

The rest of the first floor is a group of hallways and other rooms. For the most part, rooms dedicated to training are on the right side of the building, while rooms dedicated to luxuries (the dining room, lounges, etc.) are on the left.

The second floor is accessed through stairways, both to the back of the lobby and elsewhere on the first floor. This floor is mostly dedicated to rooms where the girls can stay; these are similar to top-notch hotel rooms and have all the amenities expected of one. Offices for the staff are also located here.

The guild building is in a rather remote location. While there are dirt roads leading to and from the area, there’s otherwise no other sign of civilization nearby. The surrounding area consists mostly of temperate forest, similar to what would find in the northeastern US. For the less adventurous girls, this forest is bound to have some secrets in it.

If anything’s not clear, or if there’s something that isn’t addressed but probably should, feel free to ask.

     Rules and Guidelines
  • The forum rules and universal roleplaying rules all apply. This should go without saying.
  • This is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover between various Magical Girl works. For the most part, so long as your character qualifies as a magical girl they're fair game. However, there are some restrictions to this:
    • The definition of "Magical Girl" I'm using is simply "Girl with magical powers." Your character doesn't necessarily have to fit under the Magical Girl Warrior archetype that most people probably think of when they hear the words "Magical Girl." Feel free to ask if you're not sure if your character qualifies.
    • Given that this is a Magical Girl RP, I'd expect your characters to meet the definition of "girl;" that is, a young female. "Young" is defined here as around early-mid teens, though I'm willing to accept characters who are slightly older or younger than this. "Female" is simply defined as "character identifies as female." Non-humans are allowed, however.
    • I’m not going to worry too much about your characters’ abilities (given the crossover element, it’s expected that the nature of the characters’ powers will be all over the place). However, everyone should be on about the same level concerning their powers; if you picked two characters at random and had them fight each other, they should have an equal chance at winning based on powers alone.
      • Learning how to hone one’s abilities is a part of character development; it is okay for your character’s powers to change over the course of the RP. However, be reasonable with this; it’s not an excuse to Ass Pull your way out of an unfavorable situation.
      • If you really want to, you can have your character start out completely powerless and then earn them as the RP goes on. I wouldn't recommend this as it'd put your character behind everyone who did have their character start with their powers, but it's an option. Again, just don't use it as an excuse to Ass Pull.
    • As far as canon characters (that is, characters you didn’t create yourself) go, I will expect you to remain mostly in character with them. It’s okay for those characters to undergo character development and they don’t necessarily have to remain the same throughout the whole RP. However, if you’re blatantly unrealistic with this just for the sake of turning the canon character into an OC Standin, you might as well just use an OC.
  • Each participant can have up to three active characters at a time. You do not necessarily have to fill this limit right at the very start; it’s okay to have only one character to begin with and introduce others as the RP goes on. Your three characters also don't have to be a group (although they certainly can if you want).
    • There are two exceptions to this rule:
      • The companion rule: If your character has a companion (e.g. a fairy, a personal bodyguard, etc.) who is normally inseparable from your character, you're allowed to bring them in so long as they're written as inseparable.
      • Each player is also allowed to have a "fourth" character for the purposes of providing a love interest to one of their other three. This character doesn't have to be a magical girl themselves, although they certainly can, but otherwise they're the same as a normal PC. However, do be warned that I'm going to be pretty nasty towards these characters as the RP goes on.
  • It can be assumed all characters start out at the guild building. You don’t need an elaborate explanation as to how they got there; a Hand Wave will do fine.
    • I’m not going to be really stingy about this rule, however; if you’d rather have your character start out elsewhere that can be arranged. Just be ready to define whatever part of the world your character finds herself in, and be aware that your character may not be able to have another character to interact with right at the start.
  • There will be a time system in place; the thread will start at ~10:00 AM, with the time advancing by an hour once every four pages. Depending on how active the thread gets, this can be altered for the convenience of the participants.
  • Please use location tags when posting. What does this mean? Basically, put a little marker at the start of your post indicating where a certain character is in the thread. Like so:
Guild Building - Lobby

Stuff

  • This’ll make it easier on me to keep tabs on where everyone is in-thread, as well as hopefully benefit everyone else. Likewise, it makes reading the thread in hindsight a little easier to stomach; good for anyone who might want to join the RP after it starts.
  • Please be considerate of others' posting habits. Not everyone's capable of posting rapidfire all the time; if there's more than two writers involved in any given situation, please allow time for everyone to post before advancing the scene.

Hopefully I got everything important up to this point; now here’s the sign-up sheet. While I will expect all the basics to be filled in, you don’t necessarily have to explain everything about your character here and can leave things to be shown in the RP.

  • Name: This should be self-explanatory.
  • Age: Again, self-explanatory.
  • Story: If you’re not using a character created specifically for the RP, where did they come from? This is optional.
  • Appearance: What does your character look like? Pictures are accepted, as are text descriptions.
    • If your character is the transforming sort of Magical Girl, split up their normal and transformed appearances.
  • Personality: How can your character be generally expected to behave? Do they have any little quirks? And so on and so forth.
  • Powers: What is your character capable of doing?
    • If your character is the transforming sort of magical girl, explain how she transforms here (does she use an item? Is it a natural thing? etc.)
    • Beyond that, you don’t necessarily need to explain everything about how your character’s powers work.
  • Backstory: What was your character’s life like up until this point? Another optional thing.
  • Other: Anything else you think the GM should know?

Directory of Active Characters

If you don’t post for an in-story day or so without providing an explanation, I will assume you’ve dropped out. You’re welcome to return with either the same character(s) or a different one; however, if you keep dropping out then coming back repeatedly I’m likely to refuse you entry at some point.

  • Name: Sarah Geneva/Magical Girl Shadow Nexus
  • Age: Seventeen
  • Appearance: Outwardly Sarah Geneva looks like a five foot nine brown eyed brunette. In actuality, ever since obtaining demonic corruption, her hair has turned black except for three all encompassing sideways streaks of white which extend from prominent white scars on her face. Her right eye is brown, though her left has become golden with a red iris.
  • Personality: Sarah is a calm person who doesn't let emotion get in her way. Though she's hardly cold, she's more formal than a friend magnet. Still, when around those she loves (such as her sisters Penelope/Penny and Iris/Ivy) she's more casual and emotive. Though what stands out most is how, right or wrong, she'll do anything for her sisters.
  • Powers:
    • Unholy Aura: Because of the demonic corruption she acquired, Sarah essentially reads as 'evil' to morality aware entities. Thus for example, while she can handle cursed artifacts with no problem holy items will harm her.
    • Demon Cloak: Constantly wrapped in darkish purple demonic energy, the manipulation of this is how Sarah performs all her superhuman actions. For starters, it covers all her enhanced physical abilities, and is also how she pretends to look normal. The cloak can also be weaponized, and through focus/will she's able to cling to things and perform limited flight. The cloak is also regenerative, and the most likely route to broadening her abilities.
  • Backstory:

Can I cover her backstory during the roleplay? Her life would of been very mundane and the demonic corruption wasn't obtained that long ago, so there's not much for me to write.

Both of you have been accepted.

To answer Kkutwar's question: It's perfectly fine to save a character's backstory, and indeed some things beyond the basics, to be revealed during the RP. Heck, I'm planning on hiding some things about my own characters.

Am I being clear about everything (both in the OP and in answering questions)? Admittedly I'm not the best at describing things and chances are I'm coming off as rather confusing.

I'm not entirely optimistic about this RP's chances, but I might as well post my own characters now:

  • Name: Sophie Guillory
  • Age: 15
  • Story: Seekers of Light (Story I'm working on)
  • Appearance:
    • Normally, Sophie is short-ish, but otherwise normal looking for a girl of her age. She looks to be a mix of French and Korean in ancestry. She has short, straight brown hair and brown eyes. She's normally wearing some combination of a t-shirt, denim skirt, and tennis shoes, as well as a black hairband. She has a silver bracelet with a purple jewel set in it worn around her left wrist. The jewel has an odd, soft internal glow.
    • When transformed, Sophie's hair and eyes turn dark violet. She wears a teal dress that somewhat resembles a ballerina's tutu, as well as white ball gloves, white, thigh-high stockings, and white high-heeled buckled shoes. She has a yellow ribbon tied into a bow in her hair, and another big yellow ribbon tied around her waist, with a big bow tied behind her. The jewel of her pendant is sewed into her glove on the back of her left hand.
  • Personality: Sophie tries her best to be friendly and nice to everyone she meets. She's rather selfless and will often go out of her way to help someone in need, and she'll feel really bad about herself if someone suffers as a result of her actions. She is very optimistic, but also suffers from a massive lack of self confidence. She gets embarrassed really easily, especially about how silly her transformed self looks.
  • Powers:
    • Sophie transforms using her bracelet; she just has to tap the jewel in order to change back and forth.
    • Sophie is able to read minds. She normally uses this information in battle, to figure out just what her opponent's doing and how to react to it before it ever happens. She isn't necessarily immune to being hit; her reaction times aren't the best and oftentimes knowing what her opponent's about to do doesn't help her actually do anything about it.
    • Sophie is able to quickly regenerate any wounds she suffers, which goes up to regrowing limbs if they're chopped off. However, it doesn't help against decapitation or anything that would inflict near-instantaneous death. She also has to consciously decide to use this ability; it's not something that happens automatically.
    • Finally, she has traditional Super-Strength.
  • Backstory: Sophie's world was plagued by a vicious group of machines known as the Bleaksteel ever since before she was born. Despite this, she managed to have a fairly normal upbringing and avoid most of the conflict up until she met Samantha, who gave her her bracelet and recruited her for their own battle against the Bleaksteel. She's very new to the life of a magical girl, and as a result is having a bit of trouble adjusting.

  • Name: Samantha Proudfoot
  • Age: 16
  • Story: Seekers of Light (Story I'm working on)
  • Appearance:
    • Normally, Samantha is somewhat taller and thinner than could be expected of someone her age. She's Caucasian in ethnicity, with long, straight blonde hair and bright green eyes. She's normally wearing a pair of black hairclips on either side of her head. She's usually dressed somewhat formally; her normal outfit consists of a red, long-sleeved buttoned shirt, a white undershirt, a grey formal skirt, and a pair of brown knee-high boots. She has a similar bracelet to Sophie's, only hers is golden with a blue jewel and that she normally wears it around her right wrist.
    • When transformed, Samantha's hair turns pink, but her eyes stay green (although they do get even brighter). Her new outfit consists of a red shirt with elbow-length sleeves, a black vest with a pair of wide tails that go down to her feet, a short black pleated shirt, a pair of black fingerless gloves that go up to her elbows, black tights, and a pair of black mary janes. The jewel of her bracelet is sewn into her glove on the back of her right hand.
  • Personality: Outwardly, Samantha tends to be somewhat cold and formal, sometimes to the point of coming off as a major Jerkass. However, she can be awfully friendly and supportive to those helping her, but even then she'll chew them out if they disappoint her or otherwise screw up. She is a very dominant individual; she will automatically assume the leadership position of whatever group she's a part of and won't take kindly to having it questioned. She is very focused on her goals and will do whatever it takes to accomplish them, although she usually draws the line at criminal acts.
  • Powers:
    • As with Sophie, Samantha transforms with her bracelet and in a similar manner.
    • She has the ability to summon a short, triangular sword with a hilt perpendicular to the blade. This sword is absurdly sharp, but it won't harm whatever Samantha does not wish it to harm.
    • Samantha is capable of exhibiting short bursts of super speed, to the point that it looks like she's teleporting.
    • She also is capable of firing off blasts of red energy from her physical actions, such as her kicks and punches. This extends to unleashing shockwaves should she speed towards the ground.
    • Despite all this, she is very much a Glass Cannon; if she takes a hit she tends to go down fast.
  • Backstory: Being from the same world as Sophie, she too is all too familiar with the Bleaksteel. She has far more of a history with this group than Sophie does; beyond the fact that she's been fighting them for years she's not too open to talking about it. Given that she has an intense hatred of robots beyond just the Bleaksteel, however, it can be determined that it goes far beyond just opposing their desires.

Regarding both characters: They need to be transformed to use any of their abilities. As well, they need to be conscious to transform and maintain their transformations; if knocked out they'll revert back to normal. When using any of their abilities, the jewel on the back of their hands will glow brighter. They share the ability to fly. They can also combine their powers with another person, be it each other or another magical girl entirely, to pull off stronger attacks than either could manage on their own.

  • Name: Skye Mu
  • Age: 16
  • Story: Semi-AU of a story I made up.
  • Appearance: Rawr
  • Personality: Generally taciturn. Skye doesn't seem to like talking to people very much, and when she does talk she'll be rather blunt. Skye loves solving problems, whether they be simple puzzles or murder mysteries. Kind of appropriate, considering the job she gets picked up for... Other than that, she might do things regular people might find odd, like sniffing the air or running her hands on things. Under all that, she cares very much when she sees something she finds wrong, and will try to fix it any way she can find.
  • Powers: While she has minor residual magic powers when she's not transformed, most of her abilities come from her Transformation Trinket, Xiang. Xiang takes the form of a badge, and though technically genderless, prefers being referred to with male pronouns. Since he was basically just 'born' a month or so ago, he hasn't formed much of a personality yet. What can be seen so far is that he's serious and straightforward.
    • Control of electricity: She can form bolts of lightning and control electronics to some extent. It's only really turning them on and off, though. Occasionally when untransformed, she'll static shock people by accident.
    • Weapon: Xiang becomes a Morph Weapon that can turn into various armaments used by the law enforcements. Note that it can only turn into one type of gun, the Colt M1911. The gun fires hardened bullets of mana rather than regular bullets. This makes the bullets less likely to cause permanent damage, but also do less damage in general.
    • She also has increased durability, speed and strength when transformed.
    • Not Quite Flight: She can take advantage of the wind to enhance her jumps and such. She can also maintain flight for a short period of time.
  • Backstory: Skye was a normal (albeit problem solving obsessed) girl once. One fateful day, she came upon another person's dropped transformation trinket. Said item spoke to her, and asked to be returned to it's owner- someone named Hana. Not wanting to leave it be, she returned the item through a series of events too complicated to describe here.
Seeing she had potential, the Hana's boss ended up hiring Skye for the same job as Hana. Magical Girling. This entailed solving and mediating various spiritual conflicts- some between spirits and humans, some between different spirits.

Skye had been doing this job for a month or so before getting summoned here.

  • Name: Julia Kimura/Magical Girl: Holy Knight II

  • Age: 15

  • Appearance
    • Normal: Julia has a slender build. She comes up at around 5'0 and has very short, pink hair with bangs that come down over her left eye. Her eyes are brown and her skin is darkly tanned. Her civilian wear usually consists of bright colored clothing, such as her usually bright blue hoodie and orange miniskirt and whatever sandals she has on.
    • Transformed: Julia's clothing changes into a black slit dress that resembles a nun's robe with a yellow cloak with a cuffed up collar with a black cross broach. Her hair turns chalk-white and reaches down to her mid-back, her eyes turn an orange color, a black nun's habit forms on her head.

  • Personality: Very brash. Julia is hot headed, rude, and can be an all-around unpleasant with sarcastic retorts and insults. However, she can come off as a Jerk With A Heart Of Gold since, despite the sass, she does show genuine care for the innocent-or at least, those she perceives as 'innocent' and wouldn't be here if she was all bad.

  • Powers:
    • Holy Chants: This is where most of, if not, all of her powers derive from. Through various incantations, she can cause magical effects to happen. There are a total of 108 chants she can use, but she only memorizes the few bellow since, well, she doesn't feel like learning anything else.
      • Seraphim of light most pure, grant me the power to protect the innocent and smite the souls of evil most foul. Henshin! This is her chant when transforming.
      • Fires of all creation, level the earth with your fury! Blazing Hearts! This chant enables her to boost her Physical Strength and the Strength of anyone in proximity to her with Holy Magic.
      • Swath us in your protection! Barrier! A barrier made from Holy Magic.
      • O divine embrace that fosters life! Save this poor soul from impurity! Cure! Dispels evil spirits and undos weak curses/hexes.
      • Come forth, o illumination of life! Carry us from death's door! Healing Circle! Healing spell.
      • Come, kindred of flames! Fires of the Thrones, obey my council and burn all in your path! Divine Fire! Conjures up fireballs that burn white due to being blessed.

  • Backstory: Julia was born in New York City, a Japanese/African-American child as she grew up rejected from both communities. She took the streets and became a delinquent, her only 'friend' being a Nun named Megan at the local church who ended up becoming more of an older sister to her, probably the only person outside her family who actually cared for her. Only, unlike her parents, she was able to relate to Julia's plight and was more capable of counseling her. It was a stormy night while she was forced to stay at the church overnight to get out the rain when Julia was face-to-face with a Demon who would've killed her if not for Megan, a veteran Magical Girl who died protecting her. On her dying breath, she handed Julia her book of Holy Chants and dubbed her her new replacement, seeing as nobody in the church could read the book accept for her. Despite her reluctance, Julia accepted this and became Holy Knight II.

Skye and Julia are both accepted.

[up]If they're magical girls themselves, then there's no issue (do note they'll count towards your overall character count, however). Recurring non-magical girl characters I'm a bit more unsure on, but for now I'm also considering those towards a participant's active character count. You can write up sheets for them if you wish, though it's not required.

Well I wasn't intending to show them doing anything without a Player Magical Girl being nearby. That, and I was intending for Sarah's sisters to gradually become Magical Girls as well. Hmm, actually... Hey, is anything set in stone regarding Puella Magi Magica? The second antagonist I have in mind would be obsessed with killing the weasel (she is not stable).

Oh yeah, could I explain about my first two planned storylines? Story A involves dealing with vigilante Magical Girl Thamiuel Ender (villainous holy girl who summons a ton of scythe-shotguns) and Story B deals with a Dark Sorcereress whose a Puella from another world that thinks being Magical Girl is suffering.

If you need some villainous NPC I have a cool idea I would like your permission to use.

Figured that now would be a good time to start up a discussion thread.

I'm still flip-flopping on how to handle recurring plotline characters. On one hand I don't want to restrict the participants too much, but the other hand I don't want to open up a loophole. For now I'm opting to not have such characters count towards limits and deal with them on a case-by-case basis.

[up][up]Nothing in the world is set in stone beyond what's in the OP (and even that's flexible depending on circumstances). Both of your antagonist ideas sound perfectly fine to me.

[up]I have plenty of ideas for NPC antagonists of my own, but don't let that stop you from posting your ideas. Given the nature of this RP, chances are I'll be perfectly happy to run with whatever.

I'll be honest, I don't have an extensive knowledge of this genre. But I'll give this a shot anyway.

  • Name: Anita Moreno/Cursebreaker
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance:
    • Normal: Anita is Puerto Rican, and definitely not what would be considered "white Hispanic." Her hair is black with teal tips and goes down to her mid-back everywhere except for the right side of her head, where her hair is shaved to about the length of a buzzcut. Her fashion sense is all about bringing back '90's hip-hop, from an endless array of the decade's flashiest basketball jerseys (here's the Vancouver Grizzlies to give you one example) to baggy jeans, vintage Jordans, and snapbacks. The one thing she does lack, however, is conspicuous jewlery; instead, she has a simple leather necklace with her transformation trinket on it.
    • Transformed: When transformed into Cursebreaker form, her outfit resembles that of Neo from The Matrix, but with white instead of black as the primary color and with the word Revocaré stitched in red letters with gold outlines down the left sleeve. On the back, two golden wings are stitched in at shoulder blade level. Below them are the words Vaya con Dios, written in elaborate gold cursive.
  • Personality: Anita is your classic New Yorker; she takes no crap from anybody. She's raw and honest about her feelings in every situation, and doesn't take kindly to being condescended to or treated as incapable of doing things herself. But if you treat her as an equal, she'll do the same, and once someone earns her trust, she'll do anything to help them out. In battle, she trash talks like nobody's business, an art honed over a childhood filled with streetball and rounds of the Dirty Dozens. The better she knows her opponent, the more specific and cutting she gets.
  • Powers:
    • Anita transforms using an elaborately-adorned silver cross called La Zafa. It's been in her family for generations, passed from mother to daughter at age 15 in order to provide the power for battle with the supernatural. These powers include Super-Strength, Super-Speed, Super-Toughness, and a low-key form of Healing Hands that can stabilize a person enough to survive mortal injury, but not undo a major injury entirely.
    • To finish off her opponents, Anita employs Angelito, a holy sword that can easily be concealed in her coat. She can either attack with Sword Beams of divine light or come in up close with the sword itself.
  • Backstory: Anita Moreno comes from a line of female holy warriors that started in Puerto Rico with the legendary Genevieve and has continued unbroken since then. Their task is to generally fight against forces of darkness, but their specialty is in breaking curses—and for this family, it's an absolute necessity thanks to a little something called fukú. Genevieve's father, through some bad actions—what exactly they were has been lost in time—brought one on his entire family and their descendants, dooming them to misfortune and death. La Zafa has long been the family's only defense against the fukú and the creatures it draws to them.
    • Anita's mother, the previous Cursebreaker, had the idea to leave Puerto Rico for the mainland United States, hoping she could leave the fukú behind, but all it did was follow her to the Bronx. She was more than capable of fighting off the attacks, but she knew her daughter would have to be the best Cursebreaker since Genevieve in order to truly put this to rest.
    • Anita herself was born in NYC, and identifies first as Nuyorican before anything else. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood forced her to toughen up, and she rose to the challenge. When she wasn't studying Catholic lore in preparation to take over from her mother, she was disarming people who tried to intimidate her with her wit and going harder in the paint than anyone else her age at any given game of pick-up basketball.
    • On her fifteenth birthday, Anita officially received La Zafa from her mother, beginning her time as Cursebreaker. As it turned out, her New York edge made her more than capable of dealing with demons. However, whether she'll rise up to occasions on par with what her predecessors have faced is yet to be determined.

Anita is accepted.

As stated at the bottom of the OP, I was going to wait until ten people joined before starting the RP. However, that's been going rather slowly. So I'd like to ask this: do we think we have enough characters between us to make starting the RP earlier worthwhile?

Five Players is probably good enough to start, and you'll likely draw interest as the roleplay goes.

I'm planning on starting this RP soon-ish. However, I have a surgery coming up on Thursday that may or may not hinder my participation for about a week or so. In the event I'm out for a long time, I'd like to have someone to help manage the RP.

Given the nature of this RP, I'm not too concerned about it unraveling without a universal GM; I trust the individual players to keep their plotlines reasonable. I'd just need someone to handle accepting new players and step in should things get too out of hand.

Naturally I'm looking for someone participating in the RP, and someone who's fairly active at that. I'd also appreciate someone with some GMing experience of their own; that way I not only have someone to look after the RP when I'm not here, but also someone to comment on my GMing skills when I am here (I've mostly been a follower as far as my RPing history goes, so I'd appreciate the critique).

On another note: would everyone who signed up and is still interested in participating in this RP please post in the Discussion thread? I don't mean to sound pushy or annoying, but I'd just like to make sure that people are still interested in this whole thing.

The RP has started.

However, signups are still open. If you're interested in joining and would like a recap, feel free to ask in the discussion thread.

As for the people who signed up prior...hopefully this'll be fun for at least a little while.

Magical Girls: knight Elizabeth and Beast of destruction, Lilith
  • Personality: Devon an odd one. She can both brutal but she also can be very kind to others. She also has hidden weakness for cute and or stuff things.

Powers:

  • Spirits: Avalon and Excalibur. Avalon is the embodiment of Devon’s positive side. While on the other hand Excalibur is the embodiment of her negative side. They mainly sever the role of teacher and guild to Devon while she learns to use her powers. Avalon and Excalibur can manifest beyond her weapons or bracelet. Avalon chose to take the form of snow white female dragon. Where Excalibur's form is a black dire wolf.
Transformation: Devon chose to activate her transform. Avalon and Excalibur turn form bracelet into pure white and black energy that form a vortex around Devon. Depending on which emotions are stronger determines which forms she takes. Morph Weapon: Avalon and Excalibur
  • Civilian mode: They are either bracelet. But if she needs them they can either be daggers or a pair of twin pistols, which feed off her energy.
  • Divine knight mode: They form her sword and shield. If she need to go for rang attack she can combine them into a large cannon. The large cannon are a last resort attack that will knock her out of her transformation.
  • Beast of destruction mode: In this mode all of her magic is consternation in her one chainsaw long sword. Again like in Knight Mode she has a lot of resort cannon.
  • Magic: Devon can use magic in all three states but she isn’t very skilled. Her spells are often a hot mess. By that she general make them up on the spot.
  • Back-story: Devon grew up in the care of the British military. As far she this was quite normal. She went to school, had Close quarter combat training, had test run on her. About three weeks after her sixteenth birthday. The base she was living got attacked by what the government called a terrorist attack. But in reality it was attack super-natural forces. During the attack Devon power awaken in the form of two spirits.
  • Other: Devon has very little control over her powers as she just awakens to them no more than a week ago. Also Devon is a decent cook and great baker.

Also, it's been a while since the RP started and Hydra Gem never posted. As such, I'm no longer considering Julia as an active character. However, ~/Hydra Gem is welcome to rejoin the RP either with Julia or a new character should they still be interested.

Well, here goes nothing... I've actually had a bit of interest, and kinda teetered on whether to sign up or not, but... decided to sign up.

  • Name: Lynn "Frost" Winters
  • Age: 16
  • Story: N/A (Character being made for the roleplay exclusively)
  • Appearance:
    • Regular form: Normally, Lynn is found to be in a lime green sweater, along with green leggings. Her height is 4 feet and 11 inches, with her short hair being brown, along with her eyes. She does possess a pendant that she is always wearing, held on by a simple chain that pendants often are issued with. As for the design of the pendant, the pendant happens to be in the shape of a snowman, with a sapphire to represent each segment of the snowman.
    • Transformed: This form of Lynn, her sweater and leggings are still there, though the colors turn to a cyan sweater and blue leggings. Her hair also is changed to be cyan, and is fairly long, twice as long if compared to her normal form. Her eyes do grey out as well as a side-effect of this transformation. The pendant does remain on her, unchanged from typical attire.
  • Personality: Lynn is not exactly known to be too social, often shying away from social outings like parties in favor of reading a book. She also is fairly sensitive to peoples' statements, not fond of being called a weirdo, to which she sighs in sorrow. In spite of her often timid nature, she often is fond of penguins, being unable to resist the urge to gush about the penguin. She also tends to be comfortable to talk with anyone she deems a friend, though she often does not go too out of her way to make friends, timidity being the cause. She does not condone violence upon innocent entities, and if pushed, she can get pushed to be a particularly mad person. In terms of favored dish, she prefers to have fish of some kind, often giggling at the thought of enjoying the fish.
  • Powers:
    • For transformation, Lynn merely grabs firm hold of the pendant in both of her hands, as though she were making a prayer to change between forms.
    • Whilst transformed, Lynn is with the capacity to send icy attacks towards her adversaries, dependent on the situation, but often sticking to icy ground, icicle storms, and snowballs. Dependent on the attack she sends, Lynn will need to stay focused as she uses her powers, or they will cease to work as planned and melt.
    • In the normal form, Lynn is with no powers whatsoever, unfortunately.
  • Backstory: Lynn was born within London, right in the middle of the city. Though her life was fairly calm and normal, she wound up moving with her family at age 14, despite her protests to stay in London. Ever since she moved out, she shied up with many attempts of initiating conversation with others. Her mother, one unfortunate day, would become comatose after a work-related accident had occurred. Upon visiting her comatose mother, she was briefed about the accident that happened to her mother, and was entrusted the pendant, along with a note addressed to her. She read the note and learned the truth about her mother, and learned that she would take the reins of being a magical girl, should the mother be unable to perform, and with the comatose state, Lynn gently patted her mother's forehead, before accepting the responsibilities of being a magical girl, and she has kept it a secret up to this point.
  • Other: N/A (Nothing to add I think)

...well, here it is. If I must make changes, then I understand and will work to adjust things.

I hope I am still able to join. I should warn you that my character will exceed the upper age limit just by a little, but for this character specifically there's not much a way around that, since she is a canon character and my options are either make her a bit older or far too young, so I'm going with older.

  • Name: Takamachi Nanoha
  • Age: 19
  • Story: Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha Striker S
  • Appearance: civilian and transformed

  • Personality: A kind and loving individual who firmly believes that everyone, no matter what origins or mistakes they've made, is worthy of friendship and love. However, Nanoha has a tendency to be a bit too forceful in living out this philosophy, which can occasionally lead to confrontation. Also a hard worker often to the point of overworking herself.

  • Powers: She uses her Intelligent Device Raising Heart in it's ´pendant form to transform by shouting the phrase " Raising Heart, set up!"
    • Spells
      • Divine Buster - her signature spell, which is basically a pink Wave-Motion Gun
      • Axel Shooter - shoots a variable amount of small light projectiles
      • Starlight Breaker - a slow-charging spell that collects residual magical energy before firing it all into a huge beam of energy
      • Round Shield - forms a shield in the form of the magical circle used to cast spells
      • Wide Area Search - sends a few orbs of energy to scout for a target
      • Axel Fin - forms small wings of pink light on her feet, enabling her to fly

  • Other: Lyrical Nanoha is known for containing Rank Inflation, so to try keep myself from unintentationally descending into God Modding, I will keep her canonical Power Limiters, which bring down her power ranking by 3 levels, at all times unless I obtain express permission from all other Players involved to remove them due to situation being too dangerous.
