This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is), and post the results on TRS Queue and wait your turn if a problem is present. The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread to collect evidence if you need help.
- If a wick check is too much for you, you can leave the issue at Tropes Needing TRS citing the discussion.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

Why do you think it should be Trivia? Commercial and critical reception both come from the audience, which is why it's indexed on Audience Reactions.
Yes, I'm aware that a lot of items involving critical and commercial reception are indexed on Trivia, but I think they're misplaced and should be moved to Audience Reactions. TRS already fixed one case of the now-dead Trivia thread indexing an Audience Reaction under Trivia (Fan Nickname) due to that thread lacking the sort of oversight TRS has.

I think the issue is it's not clear whether its referring to 1) behind the scenes couples (like an EP and a director), 2) an actor couple (two leading actors), or 3) a combination (the director and the star).
If it's 1 or 3, then there's likely to be objective, behind the scenes information on issues with the production that would make it more of a trivia trope. If its 2, while that also can include behind the scenes detail, it'll also be much more about the perceived chemistry of the leads, which is YMMV.
Either way, I support doing a wick check and putting it in the queue

Thoughts on adding a "This Wick Cleaning Project is currently an open TRS thread"-type note to such entries on that page? Because I find myself cross-referencing between the forum and the page to see which projects would close threads if complete.

I don't have a problem with doing that. It would make it easier to separate the listings for open threads from listings that either came from closed TRS threads or ones that didn't come from TRS at all.

I closed Asshole Victim's thread in favor of a cleanup thread. Since eroock apparently didn't have a wick check ready, I skipped them in favor of making Berrenta's TRS thread for Should Have Thought Of That Before X since she gave permission for others to make it.

x5 Also, looking at the examples, it can't decide whether the "bomb" refers to the work being a Box Office Bomb (which would be Trivia), or just the general reception to the work (which would be YMMV).

Alright, I appended a message to each active thread represented on the Wick Cleaning Project page! Of them, Something Completely Different, Vendor Trash, Moral Dissonance, and Darth Vader Clone have the fewest wicks remaining.
