Ah, well, from the perspective of an Italian like me note , Giulia's voice sounds pretty good, so I don't see (or shall I say, hear) why should she be replaced, but maybe for Americans she sounds bad. Even the tall boy's Andiamo! sounds very convincing, and not like an American who tries to speak Italian
Also, yeah, there is an Italian dub and I'm watching it but so far the trailer doesn't have Genovese accent, I'm bit disappointed although the voices are good, but this is just the trailer, maybe in the full movie there will be some old folks who speak Genovese
P.s. This exchange in the YT comments had me rolling off the chair :
- What if Italians had feelings?
- Those are not Italians, they're Ligurians and trust me: We don't have any

There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upYeah, the usual "What if X had feelings" meme:
You know who has feelings? Blokes who bludgeon their wives to deah with a trophy.
Also the same could be said for us Mexicans. We got no feelings because we are professionals with standards
All in all, that's one nice trailer
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."You left out my favorite: "What if old people had feelings?" (Referring to Up)
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationAnd also “What if the afterlife has feelings?” ...Twice by this point.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. Also "What if Scotland had feelings?"
Not the Scots, but Scotland itself?
What is it with Pixar and feelings? XD
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. Its a meme, their films are far deeper then 'what if x had feelings' its a very shallow way of looking at their films to be honest
New theme music also a boxThey're not professionals. Just a buncha blokes bludging wives to death with golf trophies
Right.

"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."Don't you think quoting the same joke in such rapid succession runs the risk of running it into the ground?
SoundCloudIn regards to Luca and Italian American voice actors, remember that those kinds of complaints usually arise from a traditional lack of representation in media. Italian-Americans are reasonably well represented all across the board in film, television, etc, so it's less likely to be a sensitive issue among Italian Americans as it would be (justifiably) for some other groups.
Frankly, the joke peaked at "What if feelings had feelings?" Literally that is the highest possible escalation of the gag and any attempt to keep rolling with it after that is pointless.
I think that joke actully came about because of Inside Out.
The continuation of the joke with Coco ("What if Mexicans had feelings?") I think was meant to be a general (amusing) dig at white people though.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationYeah, the joke was made because of Inside Out (hence the big focus on the word "feelings"). The "What if Mexicans had feelings?" part came about because how accidentally offensive it is if you just keep following the pattern (especially since Coco is a film about Mexicans, but the creators were mostly white Americans).
TBF, they did include a co-director who was of Mexican descent and actually did the research on how things work.
Not to mention having lots of genuine mexicans or people from mexican descent voicing the characters
Funny, considering that it was subject to massive backlash when it was know as "La Película del Día de los Muertos"
Don't think anyone in Mexico had any trouble with the film once that fiasco cleared up
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."Except, maybe, this family, who claim that Mama Coco was modelled after their oldest member, María de la Salud, when the producers of Coco met her during their research trip to Mexico, but received no royalties from Disney at all for using her likeness.
I didn't say that this family is representative of Mexicans (sorry if it came off that way), and yes, I also heard that most Mexicans really liked Coco.

Ah right, all of Mexico is that family. Maybe they have a point, but that's hardly a thing that can be solved normally
Plus, i think it's settled down to it being simply an inspiration rather than straight up likeness... There's tons of conflicting sources hold on.
Edit: Seems like it's a case where there's no verification that Pixar straight up used her likeness. So yeah, seems like there's no real "controversy" beyond sensationalism exaggerating things (it's really bad in Mexico, trust me)

Someone pointed out the subtext in the Luca trailer, to which a Pixar animator gave a response.
Specifically it was 👀
New theme music also a boxAnd Magnifying glass!
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. What does it mean? That the gay subtext is there, but you need a magnifying glass to find it? :P
People have been interpreting "hidden superpowers -> hidden secret -> closeted LGBT" for ages (we have a whole page on it, Rainbow Lens), so it's nice to have someone acknowledge that
I was thinking more of the Italian-American community than the people from the country of Italy when I wrote my above post. Let's not forget that the movie will almost certainly receive an Italian-language dub when released in Italy (where they, presumably, will have proper Ligurian accents).
