So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.
But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.
Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night has the entire introduction written in this tone where it's over-describing the plot while gushing at how much creepy the movie is. Someone help me to fix that.
Number one fan of characters that appear only once and ultimately were a recurring character either in disguise or trying a new image. There was still quite a lot of gushing, I cut back what I could see.
The description was also way too long, I cut it back down a lot.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. Thanks!
Number one fan of characters that appear only once and ultimately were a recurring character either in disguise or trying a new image. Is gushing allowed on subjective pages? I was cleaning up a Ho Yay page and removed a comment that was gushing. It went like "this series has a lot of M/M and F/F ship tease and it's made by a writer who's queer, so it doesn't feel like queerbaiting at all!" and I was wondering if things like that are allowed.
No. You'd treat them as you would a YMMV page. It's not a place to squee about ships.
While they are about subjective issues, we're still trying to strike a balance between the flexibility to be cheeky but the drive to remain at least somewhat impartial and descriptive of the fandom.
Relatedly, one of the biggest issues with the Nightmare Fuel pages that requires a lot of cleanup is what I call "fear porn" where the entries masturbatorily glorify how "scary" the scene is as a form of gushing.

Also, while the difference confuses me a lot, I'm pretty sure there's at least meant to be a distinction between Ho Yay and same-sex Ship Tease in the first place, so the substance of that page may need a cleanup anyway.
Ship Tease has been reworked to stringent enough that it needs to be obviously deliberate on the part of the creators, whether through directly stating things or with things like camera work and character reactions.
Ho Yay is focused on when a scene that is not explicitly and obviously meant to be homoerotic between two characters of the same gender is interpreted as such by fans, and thus is written to focus on the fan reaction to them.
Understood. Thank you for the explanations.
60 Minutes is gushy while also bashing cable news, which may teeter on the edge of ROCEJ. The whole paragraph starting with "60 Minutes remains a bastion of actually good reporting in the increasingly-barren wasteland of US network TV news." might honestly be cutworthy, as all it does is go "60 Minutes has no controversy unlike other shows... except here are some controversies it got into."
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.God that's awful! Feel free to cut!
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I think the entire third paragraph will need to go (minor scandals shouldn't be in the description). It will leave the article looking rather bare, so additions in a more objective vein will be welcome.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I cut it. The description isn't too bare, given this is ultimately just a news show anyway.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Persona1 has both gushing (with complaining about the localisation) and a way-too-long description. I am hesitant to edit it myself since I don't know anything about the game.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood has this bolded part in its description:
Since reception isn't allowed in descriptions, should I remove, or is it OK?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallReplace it with simple "It takes every trope those movies were known for and turns them upside down."
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Done! Thanks Mew.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThe first paragraph of Theatre Phantom seems a little too gushy about The Phantom of the Opera, saying that lots of people think (to be fair, it makes it clear the article isn't showing an opinion) it's one of the greatest stories of all time and talking about how great and interesting the title character is. I feel like this could be written just to say the story is popular, iconic, and has been around for a long time rather than making statements on the quality of the work or the character.

I agree, it should say the novel is influential and with an intriguing setup, rather than good (after all, the novel itself is quite obscure; it's the adaptations most people are familiar with).
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. The entry for Gorn on Berserk.Tropes E to H is really gushy. I understand that it is "the most violent piece of fiction ever" but it could still do without all that gushing. There are other issues I have with it as well note , but those aren't important.
—signature not found—I suggest either cutting it or re-writing it to just something simple like "Featured in spades. This anime is well-known for the amount of gorn featured."
Well, that would be a ZCE. You have to explain it to some extent.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe entry also relies far too much on outside references. Maybe:
- Gorn: Fighting, torture and rape are all drawn in elaborate detail. Hordes of soldiers are monsters are killed in each battle, with blood and limbs spattered about. It has a reputation as one of the most violent manga outside of the niche genre of plotless exploitation comics.
I like Reymma's version and they mention Berserk is a manga so I am in favor of their version.

The Phantom of the Opera is a popular and iconic story that has had many well-known adaptations, with the title character often being considered particularly memorable.
Took care of Fanfic.Alone Together.
