Oh hey, this is The Invitation thread! I liked most of it a lot, but the ending was an awkward tonal shift for me since it abruptly pivots from a genuinely chilling Gothic horror (that throat-slitting scene, brrrrrrrr) to a girl-power action movie complete with Charlie's Angels-style over the top martial arts scenes. [lol]

Also Lucy a cute. CUTE! Happy she turned good, sucks she died.

Wait which The Invitation are we all talking about?

I was talking about the one that came out last week. But yeah, there ARE two horror movies called that lol. [lol]

Well we have a trailer for our Winnie The Pooh slasher and it looks... Pretty bad actually. Not in the "might be enjoyably cheesy" way, just low budget dreck.

Ah well.

A quick buck off of (newly) public IP, much like The Asylum and their various mockbusters, albeit not with an immediate release whose homework it's copying.

The problem with the movie is that it was obvious that it was just for morbidity, it's not like it was intended to be a deconstruction or something like that.

I am planning to begin watching horror movies. Does anyone have any recommendations? My thoughts were to start with Friday the 13th, but if anyone more experienced in the genre has any suggestions I am open for them.

For typical slashers, the original Halloween is a classic and set the basic standards for the genre. So, I'd definitely recommend checking that out if you're just starting out.

Scaredy Cats, the horror-focused spin-off channel of Thought Slime, has a couple of solid videos on "baby's first horror" as he puts it (that is, films for beginners).

The list is:

And in the second vid:

It's a pretty solid list. Recommend it.

Renegade Cut also had a similar video, targeted towards those who might be triggered or are senstive to some of the content found in horror films.

Another good horror film for people who are new to the genre to watch is the original Alien.

I personally would put the first two Child's Play on a starter list too, albeit they show their age a little nowadays.

Have you guys heard of They/Them (2022)? What's your thoughts on this film? Because I heard people found this premise horrible.

Edit: I mean the 2022 film with Kevin Bacon. I fix the namespace already.

[up][up][up]Between this and you posting in the Nope thread about Logan Paul, you're basically just importing drama.

Which is kind of against the rules, so...if you personally have an opinion about this film, feel free to share it. But just going "I heard people on the internet didn't like this movie." is not really something we need.

Also, I was surprised that there's no Tigger so far in Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Tigger wasn't in the original book, so he's not in public domain like the rest of Pooh's friends.
