SBI Rust, sometimes also referred to as Sleepyrust, was a livestreamed Rust server created by Wilbur Soot and JoshA20 in January of 2021. It only lasted until late February, yet it gained a cult following within the MCYT fandom.
Despite the name, not all members of the Sleepy Bois Inc. group were members of the server, and the server had many members outside of SBI.
As a result of a lack of official VOD uploads, no fan-run archival efforts and Twitch VODs only staying online for two months, the majority of SBI Rust's streams are now lost.
SBI Rust contains examples of:
- Affably Evil: Kanye West will attack players at random, but will also help anyone who helps him.
- Autocannibalism: Fort Kickass are not above eating their own dead bodies.
- Berserk Button: When Piss Wizard's playing music, you'd better respect him, or he'll get pissed.
- Beware the Quiet Ones: Piss Wizard doesn't speak whatsoever, but is extremely powerful and is not above attacking players.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Piss Wizard and Kanye West are both characters defined by a single silly joke that are also just as capable as being deadly.
- Butt-Monkey: Ranboo is often used as a punching bag for the other characters' entertainment.
- Cast Herd: Members are usually corralled into their respective group.
- The Chosen One: Ty is the Dome Cult's messiah.
- Cloudcuckoolander:
- Ponk... Err, Kanye West. He is bizarrely dedicated to being Kanye West.
- Pumice speaks in a bizarre voice and yells at "grass walkers".
- Cross Player: Justified and downplayed. Players' avatars in Rust are randomized, and many male streamers end up with female avatars. Other than a few jokes, this is largely ignored.
- Cult: Wilbur starts a cult centered around a dome he had found.
- Death of a Child: A few streamers are (or were) underage at the time of SBI Rust, and death is common, so naturally, some kids die. Especially Ranboo. A lot.
- Depending on the Artist: Rust characters are randomized. Most fan content ignores the in-game appearances entirely, instead opting to make the characters resemble the creators playing them. Because of this, designs for the characters differ wildly.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Pumice taunts Piss Wizard at one point, only for Piss Wizard to fly after him at an absurd speed using his admin powers.
- Faith–Heel Turn: Wilbur loses his faith in the Dome, but stays in the cult for the influence it gives him.
- Fantastic Slurs: Resident cave goblin Pumice refers to humans as "stupid grasswalkers".
- For the Evulz: Fort Kickass don't really have a reason for their violent behavior. Tubbo and Hycei embrace the "bad guy" role, though Krinios is more apprehensive. They also lean pretty heavily into It Amused Me.
- Grey-and-Gray Morality: There aren't really any "good guys" in SBI Rust. Most members aren't above attacking and killing people.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Milo and Ty. Though Milo isn't straight, they still fit this trope as they spend most of their time together. The two are factionmates and create a music stage together.
- Holy Ground: The Dome, a large structure that is worshipped by a group of players.
- I'm a Humanitarian: Fort Kickass is a group of cannibals.
- Insult of Endearment: Some of Wilbur's nicknames can be this, such as renaming Pebbles such because "rocks are strong".
- Meaningful Rename: Pebbles was originally named Rock, but his name was changed after Wilbur realized "how weak he was".
- Makes Just as Much Sense in Context:
- God is named "Piss Wizard" and flies around spraying people with a squirt gun and playing music. He once created a gun out of thin air and shot a helicopter down with his god powers.
- There's a cave goblin that's invented a slur for people who walk on grass. He's best friends with god.
- There's a guy who is entirely dedicated to being Kanye West. He goes around killing people.
- The Nicknamer: Wilbur gives most of the Dome Cult members nicknames.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted. There are two Jacks.
- Share Phrase: The main two groups have catchphrases that are mirrors of eachother."Anything for the dome."
"Anything for the meat." - Sibling Yin-Yang: Wilbur is mostly calm and collected while Tommy is rambunctious and passionate.
- The Social Darwinist: Many characters believe in survival of the fittest, but especially the members of Fort Kickass.
- Spikes of Villainy: Fort Kickass, a group of cannibals, have spikes outside their base.
- Those Two Guys: Pumice and Piss Wizard serve as this, despite Piss Wizard not speaking. Pumice has enough commentary on the server's happenings for the two of them.
- True Companions: Fort Kickass are a group of three who stick together. It just so happens that they also see no problem with eating each other's dead bodies.
