That is how this remnant world was born: a story of life, striving against death...
And your story will be no different.

RWBY: Remnants (formerly known as RWBY: Visions and RWBY: Cherish) is a rewrite turned AU by SYTOkun and a team of fans based off of the web animation RWBY. It began life as RWBY: Visions, before evolving into a community project, RWBY: Cherish before finally arriving at RWBY: Remnants after several rewrites and team changes.

Originally planned as a webcomic, it has since taken the form of animatic-style videos on the Switchback Channel YouTube channel. Previous work on RWBY: Visions can be found on the now-inactive sub-reddit.

A full, up-to-date playlist of all RWBY: Remnants content can be found here.

RWBY: Remnants provides examples of:

  • Academy of Adventure: The story places more emphasis on exploring the Beacon era of RWBY and Ruby's time as a student in more depth.
  • Adaptation Expansion: The story goes into more detail on the lives of Team STRQ and Team RWBY's relationships with them.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Qrow is explicitly shown to be Ruby's father in the first episode.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Summer Rose and Qrow were introduced as early as the first episode, albeit through a flashback.
  • Adaptational Diversity: Many of the characters have been redesigned with more distinct ethnicities. Many of them also have accents to communicate the various regions in Remnant they come from.
  • Adaptational Nationality: Pyrrha and Nora are now from Atlas instead of Mistral.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Faunus are a Human Subspecies as opposed to a separate species from humans.
  • Age Lift: Nearly all the students have been aged up a year to suit Beacon's change to a more university-type institution: Ruby is sixteen; the rest of Team RWBY are eighteen, and so on.
  • The Beforetimes: Much of the knowledge of previous eras are lost to time because of the Grimm.
  • Crafted from Animals: Some of the characters wear clothing decorated with Grimm bones as a symbol of status or as trophies from hunts.
  • Custom Uniform: True to all students in Beacon due to their emphasis on individual expression.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Summer Rose and Qrow were introduced as early as the first episode, albeit through a flashback.
  • Impossibly Cool Clothes: Beacon's uniforms are made of a special Dust-infused cloth that can change color and manifest living patterns by resonating with the wearer's Aura.
  • Military Academy: The four major Academies train students to become Grimm Hunters.
  • Mobile City: The four Kingdoms are flying cities powered by magic and Dust.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Students in Beacon use specially-made uniforms tailored to their individual needs and tastes.
  • Points of Light Setting: The four flying cities are the only truly safe settlements in Remnant; the world below either consists of scattered tribes and city-states under vassalage of the Kingdoms, or completely desolate due to the Grimm.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: Summer and Qrow are explicitly shown to be a married couple in a flashback.
  • Regional Redecoration: The wilderness of Remnant is transformed into strange and unnatural shapes due to centuries of destructive war against the Grimm.
  • A World Half Full: The story takes place in Remnant rebuilding a few years after it averted a near-apocalypse called the Great Siege.
