Foregone is a fast-paced Hack and Slash Souls-like RPG Platform Game developed by Big Blue Bubble. It had an Early Access PC release through the Epic Games Store on February 27, 2020.

In it, the player takes on the role of the strongest warrior in the city of Calagan, who is now the only one able to save it from the all-corrupting force known as the Harrow, which had already reanimated many of the city's fallen defenders to bolster its ranks. Moreover, the Harrow is also able to mess with the minds of those who seek to challenge it, and dredge up the memories that are better left forgotten.

The trailer is here.

Tropes present in this game:

  • BFS: The Falchion is the largest weapon type available, and appropriately deals the most damage per hit of any weapon (barring a point blank shotgun blast)
  • Critical Hit: Both you and the enemies you face have a chance to land critical strikes.
  • Fantasy Gun Control: Averted. Some of the enemies seen in the trailer are clearly equipped with blunderbusses. The player character is seen wielding a pistol as well, while the artwork shows her with a pair of them. In game you can acquire a variety of firearms for your ranged weapon.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: A bright orange crab-like enemy about 1,5 times taller than the player character is seen in the early stages, capable of spawning smaller mooks.
  • Glowing Eyes: In the trailer, the most common enemy troop type appears to have eyes that glow bright yellow beneath their hood.
  • Guns Akimbo: Subverted. The artwork shows the Arbiter with dual pistols, but you only really ever use one in the game proper, albeit with more ammo than any other weapon.
  • Harmless Freezing: "Stasis" effect cools down the target with each stack, making them move and act slower and slower.
  • Mook Maker: Quire a few of them exist at all points throughout the game, from giant crabs spitting out little crabs, to sewer grates that let little knife-wielding dudes crawl out from.
  • Offing the Offspring: The final boss of the game is the Arbiter's son, Zeus, who has been corrupted into a genocidal maniac. Upon defeat, you're given a last second choice to spare or kill him.
  • Short-Range Shotgun: The shotgun has terrible spread, making it the most damaging single attack possible at point blank range, but a scattered pea shooter beyond 2 meters.
  • Why Am I Ticking?: One "status effect" is the Explosive Charge. Proccing it sticks a small bomb to the affected enemy, that explodes after 2.5 seconds, damaging it and other enemies caught in the radius. Multiple procs can stack the bomb, and reaching the maximum stack unleashes a powerful explosion that deals far more damage than each individual stack combined.
