"Too many books? Pfft. There's no such thing as too many books."
Hello all. I am Rhea Varuna, a new troper here.
I was tired of the fact that there was no page for a favorite novel of mine, Obsidian Mirror, so I finally gave up and logged on to make it myself. Please feel free to contribute to that page, as a long time spent lurking has given me only a limited knowledge of tropes. Nevertheless my limited knowledge doesn't stop me from contributing to other pages if there's time for me to do and I see the need.
I am a fan of A Monster In Paris, Frozen, Once Upon a Time, Person Of Interest, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, TRON, Tron Legacy, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, too many bands and singers to name or list, and more.
Tropes that apply to Rhea:
- A Friend in Need: I have a hard time turning my back on people I know who ask for my help. Sometimes I can't turn my back on strangers who ask for my help, either.
- Black-and-White Morality: How I see the world. I concede that there are grey areas, but refuse to concede that half the things I've been told are grey really are.
- Bookworm: You can find me haunting libraries and visiting book sales.
- The Cynic
- Determined Defeatist: I may not succeed, but that's no reason not to try.
- Fangirl: So very much.
- Everything's Sparkly with Jewelry: Well that actually depends a lot on which type of stone it is and how it's cut. Anyway, I make jewelry from time to time.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Melancholic, oddly enough, since I should really be Phlegmatic.
- Honor Before Reason: Even when Reason says it would be better to just not do the honorable thing.
- I Gave My Word: So I need to do everything in my power to keep it.
- Lawful Good: Even when it would be better to be Chaotic Neutral, or something less morally restrained.
- Making a Splash: Though I don't have elemental powers, the element I was born under is water.
- The Quiet One: How I come across to people who I don't know well. If I know you well, I tend to be very open and friendly.
- Sliding Scale of Cynicism Versus Idealism: I run up and down this based on circumstances. The default setting for me these days is cynicism.
- Stellar Name: Rhea is the name of a moon of Saturn; Varuna is the name of a Kuiper Belt object. The names also come from Classical Mythology and Hindu Mythology, respectively, though both names were chosen for their association with the stars.
- Tv Tropes Will Ruin Your Life: Yes!
- The World Is Just Awesome: Which is admittedly a strange thing for a cynic to think, but this is where the Sliding Scale comes in. The world can't be bad all the time, after all.
