    • Derek Stephen Prince voices Shizuo Miyanomori as well as a police officer.
    • Ellyn Stern voices Kieko Misaki, a dispatch operator, a stage actress, as well as a sign-language interpreter.
    • Michelle Ruff not only voices Noa Izumi, but she also provides the voice of the computer system, a reporter, a student, as well as the music video director's translator.
    • Kirk Thornton voices Goro Ishihara as well as a labor technician.
    • Simon Prescott voices Toshiro Kurusu as well as a fisherman.
  • B-Team Sequel: WXIII is the first Patlabor film not to be directed by Mamoru Oshii or written by Kazunori Ito. It was instead directed by Fumihiko Takayama and written by Miki Tori with animation by Madhouse.
  • Creator Couple: In the English dub, Richard Epcar voices Isao Ota and his wife Ellyn Stern voices Kieko Misaki among other roles.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: In the Japanese version, Takeshi Kusumi is voiced by the late drama actor Katsuhiko Watabiki.
  • Directed by Cast Member: In the English dub, Richard Epcar was the ADR director as well as the voice of Isao Ota.
  • Extremely Lengthy Creation: WXIII began development in 1995, but it wasn't released until seven years later.
  • The Other Darrin: Manga's release of the first two films was dubbed into English at London's World Wide Sound. For WXIII, it was instead dubbed at Los Angeles's Media Concepts and everyone was recast. For example:
  • Role Reprise: Returning from the Patlabor series are Mina Tominaga as Noa Izumi, Toshio Furukawa as Asuma Shinohara, Michihiro Ikemizu as Isao Ota, Daisuke Gōri as Hiromi Yamazaki, Issei Futamata as Mikiyasu Shinshi, and Ryusuke Obayashi as Kiichi Goto. For Gori, WXIII would be his last appearance as Yamazaki before his 2010 suicide.
  • Studio Hop:
    • Whereas the first and second films were respectively produced by Studio DEEN and Production I.G, WXIII is the only Patlabor film to be produced by Madhouse.
    • The North American home media rights were initially handled by Pioneer Entertainment USA, before switching over to Sentai Filmworks, who also owns the North American distribution rights to the Patlabor franchise. It has since been made available for digital streaming on HIDIVE.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • WXIII was originally envisioned as an OVA adaptation of the original manga. In 1997, it was announced that WXIII would get a film adaptation.
    • Triangle Staff was originally selected to produce the film, but when it went bankrupt, Madhouse took over.
    • Fumihiko Takayama joined the project as its director. Owing to the production delays, however, Takuji Endo was eventually selected to become director, with Takayama being promoted to chief director.
  • Written by Cast Member: In addition to directing the English dub, Richard Epcar was also the ADR writer.
