Trivia / VShojo

  • Ascended Fanon: YouTuber Vomaas, who specializes in doing funny photoshops of VTubers, made a Photoshop of a "Latin Tanned Ironmouse" at the end of his "VTubers working in fast-food chains" video. Mousey reacted to it, noting how good the tanned version of her looked. The very next day she showcased a tanned version of her current model and used that model when she watched Connor's charity stream. Apparently, she likes the tanned version because she used to be very tanned IRL before her condition deteriorated.
  • Approval of God: A couple of the VShojo girls have looked into their sections on this site.
    • Ironmouse has gotten into the habit of checking on her character entry, often surprised at the level of detail included, and has confirmed several entries (sometimes, in the case of certain ones like Cute, but Cacophonic and Vitriolic Best Buds, by acting out the trope in response).
    • Nyanners has also checked her character entry at least once. Though she mentioned that a few of the entries for her have left her a bit self-conscious about her voice, she overall appreciated the effort and enjoyed the experience, also giving special mention to the Funny Moments page for allowing her to reminisce about the events covered there, such as Mouse's 2021 birthday party.
  • Bury Your Art:
    • Nyanners' channel has existed for a long time before becoming known as a VTuber, and thus, she would remove some of her older videos due to the content no longer being something she felt comfortable with.
    • Zentreya has removed a VOD of her voice reveal stream from 2018 from her channel as well as taken quite a lot of effort in stamping out any re-uploads of it via all legal means due to certain irregularities and oddities in said voice reveal being used to fuel allegations of Zentreya being a G.I.R.L..
  • Content Leak: VShojo's own web store inadvertently revealed that the group's new member joining them on September 2, 2023, would be GEEGA, 24 hours prior to said reveal. Likewise, K9 Kuro's appearance was also inadvertently revealed in the same manner, around 48 hours prior to his debut.
  • Colbert Bump:
    • Ironmouse, Froot, and Melody received a massive boost in popularity and subscriptions after collaborating with Nux Taku and Lost Pause.
    • Nyanners wound up boosting the popularity of Cold Steel, an American manufacturer of weapons such as swords and knives, when she watched some of their demonstration videos on her stream.
    • Independent VTuber Lord Aethelstan got a major boost in popularity when he made some background music for Mouse. He went on to make background music for several of the other girls, as well as frequently streaming with them, and when he and Nyanners announced that they had begun dating in real life, he was practically accepted as all but an actual member of the group.
  • Creator Backlash: Nyanners is credited in the description for "Touch Fluffy Tail" by Ken Ashcorp for providing some backing vocals. She has since regretted the collaboration, claiming Ken didn't inform her about its source material nor its highly questionable content.
  • Development Hell:
    • VShojo held auditions in August-September 2021; however, the company appears to be taking its time to select and prepare the new members, as no one's debuted for the main group yet from those auditions. Ironmouse has mentioned that new "family members" are on their way on several different occasions, however, including shortly after the introduction of Kson and Nazuna as VShojo Japan in July 2022 note .
    • Haruka Karibu noted that she had participated in the auditions before joining in December 2022, so she is the first new member to come in via that route; Ironmouse again promised more members would come afterward.
  • Fan Community Nicknames: All the members of VShojo, past and present, have one for their fanbases:
    • Projekt Melody's is the "Science Team", courtesy of this meme. Melware's is the "Heretek Army".
    • Ironmouse's is the "Precious Family".
    • Silvervale's is "The Petal Pals".
    • Zentreya's started as the "Anti-Lewd Army", or A.L.A. for short, but switched to the "Red Knights" as of October 2020. Following her switch to a cyborg avatar, the name switched again to the "Gigachads".
    • Froot's is... well, "Frootcakes".
    • Nyanners' switched from the "Covenant of Cringe", "Nyafia", and "Nyanderthals", but it seems to have settled on the "Nyacolytes".
    • Hime Hajime's is the "Hime Harem".
    • Veibae's is "Vei's Lair".
    • Haruka officially calls her fans "the Herd", but her fans refer to themselves as "the Cult", to her indignance.
    • Geega's is the "Mob Army". The Army has three sub-factions: the Creatures, the Monsters, and the Undead.
    • Kuro's is the "K9's".
    • Matara Kan's fans are "Momos", represented by a cute white cockroach with a purple exoskeleton. She points out that anyone spending enough time with her will eventually become a Momo.
    • Michi's fans are "Scambers", though a good portion of the community goes by "4skins".
    • Kson's is "kson-gumi Shin'eitai" (kson組親衛隊, or "Kson's bodyguards"). Tier 1 members on YouTube are called Kanbukai (幹部会, or "board of directors"), and Tier 2 members are Teppoudama (鉄砲玉, or "hitmen").
    • Nazuna's is "Lollipops", owing to her sweet tooth.
    • Henya developed one with her fans not long after debuting: "HEN隊" (the "Hen Squad"), a combination of "Hen-" from her name and "隊" (Japanese for "team" or "squad", pronounced "tai"). It's pronounced as "hentai", but she specifically tells her fans to use the romaji-kanji rendering of the name so that they may not get timed-out in chat or shadowbanned from spamming "Hentai".
  • God Does Not Own This World: A surprising inverse to most other major Vtuber companies, VShojo does not claim ownership of the virtual identities and assets thereof of its various talents. As reinforced following the departure of Silvervale, Veibae, and Nyanners in April 2023 (along with Nazuna's that December), their respective IPs are indeed talent-owned, thus allowing them to continue streaming outside the company without requiring any significant changes in branding.
  • Humble Beginnings: In Ironmouse's own words, she began streaming to about seven people in 2017, and she had a stable audience of about 60 people in January 2020. By 2022, she has become the most popular female streamer on Twitch, with over a million followers and over 120,000 active subscribers.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Shortly after the conclusion of VShojo's announcement of new additions to the roster, BiliBili user SYLBravo, who clips and subs VShojo content for the mainland Chinese audience, announced that they will be deleting ALL of their translated clips at approximately 0200 China Standard Time on July 8th, as a means to protest VShojo's addition of Kson On Air to the roster.
  • Reality Subtext:
    • Ironmouse being the one who inspires Nyanners to be something other than an Eldritch Abomination in her Lore Video is a nod to the fact that Mousey was the one who originally inspired Nyan to become a VTuber.
    • Kson's lore video draws heavily from her experiences during her previous line of work, where she continuously pushed boundaries and changed the lives of everyone around her for the better before leaving. Furthermore, what happened to her relationships in her previous line of work mirrors the relationship with her friends in the video.
    • Everything involving the story of Amemiya Nazuna. An angel whom Kson took in due to her situation: being an amnesiac that goes comatose at even a hint of her past, leaving her early life forgotten and with nowhere to go afterwards. In her previous line of work, after a series of unfortunate events that led to her firing, she was forced to move on and unable to go back to her previous identity, with Kson serving as her support in her time of need. To drive the point home, one self-inflicted amnesiac trigger comes from her comment near the end of her debut stream, leaving her briefly dazed.
Nazuna: Thinking that I have to end soon makes me kinda sad... [long pause] e-eh?
    • Ironmouse's punishment during her lore video, being trapped in a box, alone, unable to speak and witness anything outside, is essentially how she felt during the early days when her condition deteriorated according to her interview with HealthyGamer.
    • During its original run, the normally-weekly Lewdcast's latest episode released in January 2021. When questioned about this, Mouse mentioned that circumstances beyond their control were preventing them from doing another episode at the moment, but they intended on bringing it back as soon as it was possible to do so. It eventually did return in March 2022, albeit retooled, with Melody as the sole host; Silver would eventually appear as a guest star on its 8th episode, with the two spending some time acknowledging and reminiscing about the Lewdcast's original run.
    • For a while after Hime's debut, she would do about 2-3 streams a week at most, with many of these ending up being pushed back or cancelled. She would later discuss this on-stream, mentioning that was in part due to a lot of her time and energy needing to go to projects for her other persona. For the other significant part, she revealed that, up to that point, she had been doing streams based on what she felt would be popular rather than what she personally wanted to do, and ended up dealing with burnout as a result. She later had to take another break to move from her apartment into a house.
    • Michi Mochievee having spent some time wandering the world as a spirit in her lore backstory references a previous VTuber identity many watching her would be aware of.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot:
    • It's an Open Secret that Amemiya Nazuna is the current incarnation of a former corporate VTuber with a very painful past. How do you prevent yourself from talking about it and your audience from bringing it up? You make your new avatar an Amnesiac Hero, who literally faints every time she tries to remember it.
    • Matara Kan's story about being a "movie star" before leaving so she could avoid the "hustle and bustle" while also being allowed to play "more roles" is a direct reference to her past as a corporate VTuber.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • A video detailing the creation of Hime's character is readily available on YouTube, showing that she was originally named TokyoMewMewGirl2002 and was from the future instead of another planet.
      • During an "other site" stream, Melody mentioned a different name that she had suggested for Hime that ultimately went unused: Yuri Paizuri.note
    • Melody has mentioned that, in the early creation stages of her avatar, she considered white hair for it instead of the purple and blue she ended up with. She ultimately got the white hair as well with the introduction of her "Moo-lody" form.
      • Later, during her guest spot on Mouse's "Speak of the Devil" show, Melody also mentioned that she originally intended for her right arm to be robotic, though the idea had to be dropped due to it being too difficult to model.
    • Nyanners has mentioned wanting to have a seal-girl avatar before, but feels that she's been too associated with the "pink catgirl" look from too early on to be able to make such a change.
  • Write What You Know: Haruka Karibu's "My Personal VTuber Story" video, hosted in the latter half of her VShojo debut, is her real-life story detailing her struggles with autism and subsequent lonely life.
  • Write Who You Know: According to Melody's Twitter announcement, her webtoon's main character is based on Ironmouse.
