Trivia / The Eleven Little Roosters

Go To

  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: Josh Flanagan wanted to cast Elyse Willems as a Canadian before he even knew that she was from Canada.
  • Actor Allusion:
    • Both of the Canadian spies are played by Canadian actresses (Barbara Dunkelman and Elyse Willems); their characters embody basically every Canadian stereotype you can think of and play it for laughs.
    • Michael Jones' character Operator Mikey is just as foul-mouthed and hot-headed as he is.
    • When Agent Moose is asked about Ryan Haywood (the survivor of Ten Little Roosters), she replies that his name sounds like that of a madman, nodding to Ryan's status as the Mad King.
    • The Big Cock, the leader of the Rooster Corps, is played by Matt Hullum, the CEO of Rooster Teeth.
    • Christoph Weiss is played by Chris Demarais, who is a huge Tolkien fan. He received LOTR-style deaths for both TLR and ELR; his TLR death mirrored Boromir's death, while his ELR death mirrored Gandalf's.
    • The Griffon's A-Team Firing, despite being the sniper, is based from Griffon's ability with a gun. An example seen here.
  • The Danza: Most of the assassins' and some of the non-combatants' names somehow relate to the name of their actor.
  • Descended Creator: Josh Flanagan, the series creator, plays the Colonel while Blaine Gibson plays Agent Gibson, one of the CIA spies.
  • Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: Zach Anner, who has cerebral palsy, plays Annersby.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Josh Flanagan had his beard shaved into the shape of roosters for his role as The Colonel, which, by the finale, evolved into rooster-shaped chest hair as well (see Throw It In!). To a slightly lesser extent, Blaine Gibson had all his chest hair waxed off for the "sexy fight" scene in Episode 7.
  • Fake Nationality: Everyone out of the currently released cast except Ryan, Gavin the 3rd, So'rolla, Agent Jinx, Agent Moose, Agent Gibson, Madam Mariel, and Agent Knuckle are this.
    • Downplayed with La Luna Loco, played by the half-Mexican half-American Miles Luna.
    • Double Subverted by Comrade Hadam, who is revealed to not be Russian, but a Canadian who immigrated to Russia. Adam Ellis is neither.
    • Subverted by Christoph, Boomerang Geoff, and The Griffon, who are revealed to be their actors, making them Americans.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Agent Knuckle and Wilhelm are married.
    • The Griffon and Boomerang Geoff are also married. Well, they are Geoff and Griffon Ramsey.
    • Agent Jinx and Burnardo Burnadicci are engaged.
    • One of the male agents in the Ministry of Moose is played by Brad Anner, Zach Anner's brother.
  • Throw It In!: The Colonel boxes in the finale because Josh thought his facial hair resembled that of an old-timey boxer. This also lead to the inclusion of the rooster-shaped chest hair.
  • What Could Have Been: There has been a lot of changes since the release of the teaser trailer of 2015.
    • Instead of the spies and assassins as the titular eleven roosters, it would be the intelligence agencies.
    • Jack Pattillo, who was cast as a KGB agent in the teaser trailer, has been recast as Jack the Red from the Norwegian Viking Coalition.
    • Ashley Jenkins replaces Meg Turney as the female CIA agent. Turney couldn't take part in the series since she left Rooster Teeth after the teaser was released.
    • The leader of the alliance was played by Gray Haddock in the teaser trailer, but in the show itself, Matt Hullum plays the role. Though oddly enough, Matt's eyepatch-wearing character is also in the teaser trailer.
  • Word of God: According to Josh Flanagan at RTX Austin 2017, the surviving Sex Von Shaukel Boyz continued their music career after the events of the show, and they released a tribute album to Lars called Lars on Mars. They planned to show this in the credits, but they didn't get the chance to film it for various reasons.
  • You Look Familiar: With the exception of Ryan, all of the actors and some of the other people mentioned in Ten Little Roosters return here to play all-new characters. Chris and Geoff turn out to be exceptions too.
    • Lampshaded by Boomerang Geoff.
[To Agent Moose] I used to play video games for this production company, until most of that company got murdered. By someone who looks suspiciously like you, actually...
    • Jon Risinger plays a Sex von Shaukel Boyz superfan in the 360 shorts and a cowboy assassin in the finale.
