  • Billing Displacement: Minor example. Burt Reynolds, Cybill Shepherd, Madeline Kahn and Duilio Del Prete all have a roughly equal amount of screentime and all of them are just as relevant to the plot (to the extent that they can all kinda be considered the protagonist in a sort of small-scale Ensemble Cast}, but only Reynolds and Shepherd are billed above the title, and only their pictures are shown - Kahn and Del Prete are relegated to the billing block with the supporting cast.
  • Box Office Bomb: Budget, $6 million. Box office, $1.5 million.
  • Creator Backlash: Peter Bogdanovich wrote an open letter, printed in newspapers throughout the country, apologizing for the quality of the film. He had finally made peace with the film by the time he released his Director's Cut in 2013.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Rescued. After years of waiting,note  the movie occasionally showed up of Fox Movie Channel, streamed on Netflix for a while, and finally got a Blu-Ray release in 2013.
  • Production Nickname: The movie was nicknamed The Man Who Loved Tap Dancing, a play on words of the title of the Burt Reynolds movie made two years earlier, The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing.
  • Production Posse: The film features Bogdanovich regulars including Madeline Kahn, Cybill Shepherd, Duilio Del Prete, Eileen Brennan, John Hillerman and Burton Gilliam in lead, supporting and cameo roles.
  • Real-Life Relative: Peter Bogdonavich's children Alexandra and Antonia appear as extras in the scene set at Lord and Taylor.
  • What Could Have Been: Peter Bogdanovich originally wanted Ryan O'Neal for Michael Oliver Pritchard III, while Elliott Gould was originally cast as Johnny Spanish. Peter Bogdanovich originally planned to play the latter role himself.
  • Working Title: Quadrille.
