Release: December 16, 2014

Film: A Christmas Story 2

Tagline: Well OBVIOUSLY this deserved a sequel.

This review contains examples of:

  • Aesop Amnesia: Gleefully lampshaded by Hyper in Christmas Story II, after she tells Bennie she “finally knows what to do to the Critic”.
Benny: Don't you ever learn your frigging lesson?
Hyper: No, and for ten grand neither do you.
  • Call-Back: The constant abuse of this trope in this film with regards to the first film is lampshaded by the Critic in increasing degrees of annoyance.
  • The Cameo: MikeJ briefly appears in the beginning to swear about how bad the movie is, as he's seen it already.
  • He Really Can Act: In-Universe, the Critic actually considers Braeden Lemasters (teenage Ralphie) the only fairly decent actor throughout the film, capturing the spirit of Peter Billingsley's younger version while infusing his own charm element.
  • Jerkass Realization: At the end, the Critic realizes that all this time he has been venting out his frustration over A Christmas Story 2 on Hyper Fangirl, in the process forgetting the simplicity that made the first film so much better. The Critic felt so guilty he asked Santa Christ to bring him back in time to before he did the review.
  • Jizzed in My Pants: "A little less holiday spirit, Mr. Parker." "And change your pants!"
  • Maybe Ever After: Between The Critic and Hyper Fangirl. Upon waking up, the Critic finds Hyper Fangirl no longer by his side. The review ends with him opening the door and leaving it ajar, perhaps hoping that one day she will return.
  • Memetic Molester: The Critic's In-Universe opinion of Ralphie, to the point that he puts up a "Perverted Ralphie Counter" that ticks for each uncomfortable action from the guy.
  • Money, Dear Boy: The Critic's biggest In-Universe complaint against the film, for being a needless, profit-driven sequel to what was originally a cult hit.
  • Noodle Implements: After the Critic locks Hyper Fangirl and Benny in a room, they escape by making a door using a bobby pin and the works of Lewis Carroll. Their escape leads them into a popup ad for a perfume called "Desperate".
  • Not Helping Your Case: Near the end where Critic says that Hyper Fangirl's transgression was trying to get him to appreciate Christmas. He seems to acknowledge this error as he gives a That Came Out Wrong face afterwards.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: The Critc delivers one to Hyper Fangirl.
  • Sentimental Music Cue: Plays over the ending and the credits.
  • Sequel Episode: To the "Princess Diaries 2" review: Hyper Fangirl has finally landed after being hurtled into the air from the PS3 explosion in the former review.
  • Sleep Cute: The Critic and Hyper Fangirl at the end.
  • Stock Sound Effects: The Critic criticizes the use of Hanna-Barbera's "whee" sound effect during one of Flick's hijinks while working at Schwartz's department store.
"That was a 'WHEE' sound effect, folks! We were desperate enough to put in a 'whee' sound effect."
  • Take That!: Upon hearing the aforementioned "whee" sound effect during one of Flick's hijinks during his, Ralphie and Schwartz's department store shift, the Critic sarcastically claims that someone's been "learning from the masters" (i.e. Joel Schumacher, of Batman & Robin infamy).
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When the Critic explains to Santa Christ how he completely chewed Hyper Fangirl out just for trying to restore his Christmas spirit after the movie used it all up, all Santa Christ can respond with is "Wow. You're a douche."
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: In one cut throughout his "The Reason You Suck" Speech against Hyper Fangirl, the Critic briefly turns into a cheerleader.

I wish I wasn't such a softie.

"I HATE YOU!"

He rips into Hyper after she (again) won't leave him alone in Christmas Story II, angrily pointing out that being kidnapped and stalked doesn't put him in a loving mood.

How well does it match the trope?
