Release: November 21, 2017

Focus: Nostalgic Commercials

This review contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod:
    • As with many of his past commercials videos, the Critic doesn't have the full title sequence. In fact, this time, not only does he cut the opening short, he doesn't even bother with doing any titles at all. After the Channel Awesome logo, it cuts to the Critic immediately, who utters the first phrase that pops into his head, which becomes the title for this program. See also: Title-Only Opening.
    • The RSPCA PSA, involving someone holding a gun to a dog's head, is from Britain, to which the Critic flips out and once again refers to the country as "NEW CANADA!"
    • After doing his best not to do any perverted jokes during the Balzac and Ball Busters commercials, the Critic has to walk out on the Oozinator commercial. He keeps his mouth shut as he leaves, but he does it to erotic music and clips of "your kids and your Johnson" and the Wunder Boner.
  • Darker and Edgier: The RSPCA ad has NC wondering if this was meant to be a gritty reboot of Cats & Dogs directed by Christopher Nolan.
  • Downer Ending: For Kermit the Frog, according to Critic, making a skit of a drunk Kermit being abusive to his assistant and asking in a depressive tone "when did the rainbow fade?" after being unable to find respectable gigs after the cancellation of the The Muppets (2015).
  • I'll Tell You When I've Had Enough!: Doug!Kermit shouts this at Tamara when she says he's had too much to drink, making him throw a bottle at her.
  • Insignificant Anniversary: Michael Bay decides to reshoot his 1993 Got Milk? commercial to celebrate its 24th anniversary, which Critic thinks is a "very random number" of years to celebrate.
  • Little "No": The Critic's initial reaction to the first "Got Milk?" commercial being directed by Michael Bay.
  • Mondegreen Gag: The Balzac commercial is loaded with this.
    • The Mickey Mouse Talking Phone has a little girl telling Mickey to come over for a party, with NC interpreting that as "potty."
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The voice has this reaction after Tamara gives him some pie.
  • Oh, Crap!: The Critic is not too pleased to find out that the original (and, in his opinion, the best) "Got Milk?" commercial (where a history buff received a quiz call asking him who shot Alexander Hamilton, only to his response to be garbled due to being unable to down his sandwich with milk) was directed by none other than Michael Bay.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": In the sketch surrounding the Warburtons Crumpets commercial featuring the Muppets, Kermit is referred to by his secretary as "Mr. The Frog".
  • Subverted Catchphrase: Happens after a final segment that spoofs the commercial for Pole Position, where the Critic is horrified at how dark the segment got.
”I’m the Nostalgia Critic, and... I don’t know why I look forward to this every year. (gets up and leaves) I think I’m sick. Really sick! Yeah.”
  • Suddenly Shouting: The Critic does this when realizing that the RSPCA PSA featured is from Britain:
"OH, OF COURSE! When you're doing crumpets, you're all Muppets and dancing, but when you're doing a PSA, YOU'RE KILLING DOGS!"
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment: NC was creeped out by the RSPCA ad once a gun is pulled on a dog.
  • Take That!: Doug Bay's "revision" of his famous "Got Milk?" commercial features common elements in Bay's recent movies. It shows a fitness buff (Malcolm) exercising in the middle of explosions, while Sam Witwicky's rapid-fire "no"s play in the background, receiving a call asking who wrote "The Legend of King Arthur". After receiving multiple flashbacks of other common Bay movie elements (such as the military, aliens, and sexy women), he correctly answers "Transformers covering up a drunk Merlin", and is rewarded with a hot woman (Tamara), who invites him to watch her bathe in milk before the setting sun in slow-mo.
  • Title-Only Opening: This time, the Critic does not even bother with the opening titles. It just transitions from the Channel Awesome logo to his shirt, then he shouts, "Just go!" Thus the name of this series of commercials is entitled, "Just Go!"
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Doug!Kermit has this reaction when on the phone about the crumpets commercial.
"Crumpets? Goddamn crumpets? Are you shitting me?! We're the friggin' Muppets, not Teletubbies!"

"Try to bust your opponent's balls."
