In search of seaworthy transportation, Rayla leads the way to an unsavory port town run by a cunning elf. Claudia takes a stand.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Bargaining Skills: When Ezran refuses to exchange Bait for a ship, Finnegrin believes the boy is trying to up the price and thus offers him the three young glow toads on top. Naturally, that doesn't change Ezran's mind.
  • Animation Bump: The character animation this episode is much more expressive than usual.
  • Contemplative Boss: When Ezran enters Finnegrin's office, the latter is facing away towards the window while cuddling his Right-Hand Crab.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: The gang hoped of being picked up by Zubeia so that can beat Claudia's team to the prison. Unfortunately, they are unaware that she is weakened by her infection from the previous two episodes thanks to the shadow creatures. As such, they will need an alternative form of transportation.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: When Terry manages to get Claudia to stand down from murdering the dragon pursuing them, noting that the dragon won't bother them anymore since Claudia had won... Claudia has a very different viewpoint, noting they won't bother them again because the dragon fears her.
  • The Ferryman: On Rayla's advice the heroes take a journey with a hooded ferryman who resembles Charon of the River Styx. Rayla pays him with the obligatory coin.
  • Huddle Shot: There is a huddle shot from inside Finnegrin's chest onto the heroes when they finally get to see its content.
  • Improvised Zipline: Ezran escapes from Finnegrin's office by using his crown to slide down a rope that miraculously stretches from the window to the town below.
  • It's Personal: Claudia gets annoyed enough by the dragon tailing her group that she decides to put an end to it.
  • Loud Gulp: Finnegrin reminds Soren (disguised as Smort Longpocket) that if his goods turn out junk, he is not gonna leave the island alive. Soren reacts with a loud gulp.
  • Not-So-Safe Harbor: Bright Hope Cove is a lawless Port Town inhabited by shady characters doing shady businesses. Reasonably, it has been nicknamed "Scumport" in contrast to its pleasant-sounding official name.
  • Percussive Pickpocket: As demonstrated previously, Rayla and Stella are masters of the "Bumpsie-Daisy" pickpocketing technique which they use on Finnegrin to nab the key to his office.
  • Reaction Shot: When Finnegrin offers a ship in exchange for Bait, the camera zooms in on Bait and Ezran's stunned and outraged expressions.
  • Roar Before Beating: Both the dragon and Claudia let out a huge roar before entering into their fight.
  • Smoke Out: The heroes use an improvised smokebee bomb to distract Finnegrin and steal his office key.
  • Snake Oil Salesman: Rayla has to drag Soren away from a stall where an Earthblood Elf saleswoman is advertising "necessary oils" that he's convinced he needs after listening to her for only five seconds.
  • Stealth Pun: The "necessary oils, you really gotta have these oils" are, of course, 'essential' oils.
  • Tasty Gold: When Finnegrin inspects Ezran's crown for its worth he bites on it, only to return it to Ezran for being worthless steel.
  • Tired of Running: Claudia drops this line when she decides it's time to stop running from the tailing dragon and confront it in battle.
  • Travelling Salesman Montage: A montage of Soren and Rayla knocking on peoples' doors in the hope of hitching a boat ride but getting rejected each time.
  • Unreveal Angle: Initially we don't get to see what Finnegrin is hiding in his chest when he shows its content to Ezran who stares at it in awe.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: The heroes' plan to snatch the chest from Finnegrin succeeds without a hitch because no detail of it was known to the audience in advance.
  • Wretched Hive: Scumport.
