Both: We'll punish you!

(CWi Episode: "A Pegasus Page Turner")

A new novel about a human girl falling in love with a pegasus catches the attention of the Inner girls, especially as they find out that the author was a former friend to Makoto. At their insistence, Makoto decides to visit her but learns that she's having trouble writing a second bestseller.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • All Girls Like Ponies: The Moon Night Pegasus revolves around a human girl falling in love with a pegasus. All the girls plus Unazuki fell in love with the premise.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Apparently the reason Tomoko fell into a writer's slump is because the boy she admired fell in love with another girl.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: After Rei makes fun of Usagi's reading habits, Usagi gets a pretty good shot back by stating Rei probably didn't read Tomoko's book herself. Cue Oh, Crap! expression from Rei which only worsens as she learns Minako and Ami read it too.
  • Bathos: Tiger's Eye is shown stalking Tomoko and planning his next move... while wading in the middle of swamp water.
  • Big Ball of Violence: Tiger's Eye gets into one with a mob of angry publishers just outside of Tomoko's house.
  • Chain Pain: Tenko turns her hair into chains that bind the Sailor Guardians for her upcoming escape trick.
  • Comically Missing the Point: After Diana points out how Makoto is exceptionally happy to see Tomoko in person, Minako claims that it's because she's going to get her book signed.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Out of fear that she's falling behind in recent trends, Rei goes out of her way to buy three copies of the new novel. One for reading at home, one to keep in mint-condition, and one to show off to other people.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Jupiter tries to use Supreme Thunder without realizing that she, along with Moon and Chibi Moon, would be electrocuted because of their binding chains.
  • Escape Artist: Tenko, the Escapist Lemures, is modeled after escape magicians. But as a twist, she forces her enemies to escape or risk being blown up to smithereens.
  • Flashback: We get two of them regarding Makoto's friendship with Tomoko.
    • The first was how Makoto encouraged her to send her story to a publisher which led to her developing her story.
    • The second was their first meeting where Makoto scared some bullies who were picking on Tomoko.
  • Grenade Hot Potato: Thanks to Tuxedo Mask freeing the Sailor Guardians from their chains, Jupiter tosses the time bomb back at Tenko which blows up on her.
  • History with Celebrity: Makoto confesses that she used to know the author, Tomoko Takase, in one of her old schools before transferring to Juuban Junior High. Though she tries to be humble about it out of fear of coming off as smug and arrogant.
  • Innocently Insensitive: A pushy publisher reveals that Tomoko has yet to deliver her second manuscript which leads Minako to blurt out that she "ran away" because she couldn't handle the pressure.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Luna tries to dissuade Usagi's suggestion of visiting Tomoko claiming that not everyone would be interested. And then Chibi-usa opens her mouth saying she wants to go too.
  • The Needs of the Many: After seeing Pegasus himself, Tomoko is inspired to write stories not only for herself but for everyone with beautiful dreams.
  • Oh, Crap!: Rei's reaction realizing all her friends read a popular bestselling novel before she did. Yes, even Usagi.
  • Plot Hole: While alone at Fruits Parlor Crown, Luna points out that Chibi-usa ran away somewhere. And she spoke while Unazuki was right next to her.
  • Rousing Speech: Makoto gives one to Tomoko in order to inspire her to keep writing.
Makoto: You used to hide your stories inside your desk because you were too embarrassed to let other people read your work. Do you really want to be that coward again? Remember the commitment you made to yourself? You said that even if you had only a single reader, you'd always finish your story for them! The dreams you write about don't belong to just you anymore!
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: One look from Bully Hunter Makoto is enough to send the trio of dumb wimp-heads who were picking on Tomoko to run for the hills.
  • Sickeningly Sweet: Hawk's Eye and Fish Eye found the trending novel to be incredibly sappy and lame.
  • Writer's Block: Tomoko suffers through this as she can't come up with a new story that will be as good, or better, then her first novel.
  • Wrong Assumption:
    • Chibi-usa believes that Tomoko was also haunted by the Pegasus in her dreams given how accurately she describes him in her novel.
    • Zirconia assigns the Amazon Trio to target Tomoko next believing that she may know something about the elusive Pegasus given that she wrote a best-selling novel about the creature.
