“Dearest Mamo-chan, Seiya and the others finally found their princess. She's beautiful and has very gentle powers. I want us to work together as a team, but Haruka and Michiru say we can't! Oh Mamo-chan, I really wish you were here with me at times like these...”
Usagi Tsukino

Princess Kakyuu appears at last and provides crucial information about the Legendary Sailor Wars and how they tie to Sailor Galaxia. And while the Starlights get re-acquainted with their princess, the Solar System Guardians resolve to protect theirs from the last Sailor Animamate. But despite their best efforts, Usagi reaches her breaking point.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • All-Loving Hero: Criticized. Haruka confides in Michiru that she considers Usagi to be too sweet for her own good. And her eagerness to help others will only get her hurt in the long-run.
  • Beyond the Impossible: After Usagi blows her newly gifted whistle, Rei runs across the neighborhood of Juuban and reaches the high school in only ten seconds.
  • Blatant Lies: Nyanko has the audacity to claim that she and Lead Crow were "working together" to claim a true Star Seed.
  • Cliffhanger: Usagi breaks down in tears over Mamoru not answering while Seiya tries to "salvage" the moment by offering himself as a replacement. All of this is witnessed by her friends.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: It can be inferred that the reason Haruka and Michiru refused to have Usagi work with the invading Guardians is because they're afraid that she'll end up being hurt if she gets involved with the Sailor Wars.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: While bringing up the idea of the enemy being in disguise, Minako correctly identifies Tin Nyanko on two different occasions without even knowing.
  • Cue the Rain: Rain begins to fall when Usagi officially breaks down.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Usagi was barely keeping things together while dealing with Mamoru's lack of responses. But it isn't until she saw Seiya throw a red rose in battle does she finally break down crying while confessing that she desperately misses him.
  • Double Entendre: After Haruka mentions that she's cold, Michiru offers to "warm her up".
  • Escort Mission: Now that her Star Seed has been exposed by the enemy, Usagi's friends resort to doing round-the-clock bodyguarding to keep her safe.
  • Forever War: Princess Kakyuu explains that there's been an ongoing crusade throughout the galaxy that's lasted for eons. These battles are known as the Sailor Wars.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: While at Fruits Parlor Crown, Rei is reading a manga featuring Sailors Moon and Chibi Moon.
  • Friendship Denial: After Princess Kakyuu asks for Sailor Moon's help, Uranus and Neptune pop in and deny them their request for help.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The reason the Sailor Wars have lasted for so long was because of a malevolent entity made of pure evil known as Chaos.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Once the battle is wrapped up, Usagi goes on a soft self-slandering rant on how she's never been good at doing things by herself.
  • In Medias Res: The episode continues with the Starlights reuniting with Princess Kakyuu.
  • Innocently Insensitive: The girls really go overboard in bodyguarding Usagi that it makes her feel that she can't take care of herself. It gets worse when Minako casually brings up how Mamoru isn't around.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Tin Nyanko learns of Star Fighter's Secret Identity.
    • The Inner girls learn that Mamoru never responded to Usagi.
  • It Has Been an Honor: She hasn't died, but Kakyuu tells Usagi that it's an honor to meet her.
  • Jerkass: Along with rudely refusing Kakyuu's request for help, the Outer Guardians shame her for being selfish with such a ludicrous demand.
  • Living MacGuffin: Kakyuu was hoping to find the mysterious champion who's known as the "Light of Hope".
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: From her throne room, Galaxia can sense that Lead Crow's light has disappeared and the one who opposes her continues to grow stronger.
  • Mysterious Watcher: Princess Kakyuu confesses that she's been watching Usagi and her friends from the incense burner and learned of their virtuous characters.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The Inner girls try to give Usagi space after they overdo it with their protection. But them leaving gives a golden opportunity for Tin Nyanko to make her attack.
  • Oh, Crap!: Seiya gets this when he realizes that his feelings for Kakyuu are the same as what he feels for Usagi.
  • Properly Paranoid: Ami, Makoto and Minako gift their princess a variety of safety items to keep her sake while in civilian mode. This includes a taser, a baton, a gas mask, a good luck charm and the Rei whistle.
  • Reused Character Design: The Guardians that appear in Kakyuu's story are designed after Inner Guardians.
  • The Reveal:
    • Kakyuu explains that she came to Earth to look for the Light of Hope while keeping herself hidden to avoid being detected by Galaxia.
    • Without her armor, Galaxia is shown to have long flowing hair.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Kakyuu is shown to be a proactive princess as she tried to find the Light of Hope to save the galaxy. She also reached out to Sailor Moon hoping to make an alliance and keeps her Starlights in check before they can act on their hostilities.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Chaos was said to have been sealed away in a mystical sword by a mysterious Sailor Guardian champion.
  • The Stake Out: Haruka and Michiru do their part of protecting Usagi by watching over her house for the night.
  • Stars Are Souls: Princess Kakyuu explains that Sailor Guardians are the reincarnations of stars and planets.
  • Tears of Joy: The Starlights cry tears of happiness after they see their princess standing in front of them.
  • Transformation Sequence: Seiya gets a new sequence when transforming in front of Nyanko.
  • Unwanted Assistance: The Inner girls go all out with keeping Usagi safe from the remaining Animamate. But their methods of staying by her side and never giving her a moment's peace makes Usagi feel even more upset on how she can't take care of herself.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: After having half of her purified by Moon's Finishing Move, Tin Nyanko flees.
  • Villain Team-Up: It appears that Galaxia is working alongside Chaos by capturing all the Star Seeds so she can bring about never-ending chaos to the galaxy.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Done in the worst possible way. Sailor Moon's fight with Tin Nyanko is interrupted by a single red rose. Sailor Moon looks up expecting to find Tuxedo Mask but is dismayed to find that it was Seiya instead.
