After destroying the Overlord, the Ranger finds himself at the beginning of time. Thus begins a race against the clock in order to find Quake's fortress and destroy it.

The episode contains 8 levels: "Tempus Fugit", "Elemental Fury I", "Elemental Fury II", "Curse of Osiris", "Wizard's Keep", "Blood Sacrifice", "The Last Bastion", "Source of Evil". Each level features a boss fight at the end or in the middle, and many enemies are unique to this episode.

This episode shows examples of:

  • Advancing Wall of Doom: A variant: the "earth" section of "R2M2: Elemental Fury I" has moving blocks (some moving vertically, some horizontally, some alternate between the two) that crush you. Oddly, just touching the blocks at all causes massive damage even if they aren't crushing you against anything.
  • Boss Rush: Every level of this episode features a boss.
  • Cosmetic Award: The 2021 remaster offers the following achievements for this episode:
    • Completing the episode earns you "Dragonslayer".
    • Completing the episode in Nightmare mode earns you "Rogue Ranger".
  • Gratuitous Latin: The first level is named "Tempus Fugit" ("Time Flies"). Unlike most examples, this isn't a complete non-sequitur as the level is Ancient Grome themed and the episode is about Time Travel... somehow.
  • Kaizo Trap: After you defeat the Dragon in "R2M8: Source of Evil", an earthquake will be triggered, which can push you onto the lava present across the boss arena. And even if you proceed forward, the next two chambers also feature an unescapable lava pit.
  • Permanently Missable Content: In both cases, the only way to return to these areas involves the use of "noclip".
    • After clearing the portal to the silver key in "R2M6: Blood Sacrifice", you can't explore the underground areas of the level, as the pit that sends you to them is placed right above the portal, which is initially covered with some bars. This also means missing up to 4 out of the level's 5 secrets.
    • If you "join the zombies" in "R2M7: The Last Bastion" by falling through the fake wooden floor, you can't go back to the previous area or even the beginning, and this means missing up to three secrets.
  • Time Travel: The second episode (named: Corridors of Time) has something to do with time travel, although exactly what is a pretty vague. There are several levels that are based on ancient civilizations (specifically Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, and the Aztecs).
