Narrator: Upon his return home, Gira was given a welcome befitting a prince.
However, that soon changed with the Bognaarok demanding his extradition.
Racules then dissolved the Quintet Alliance, heedless of the threat to all of Tikyū.
Unable to use King-Ohger, Gira nonetheless was able to defeat the Bognaarok with the aid of God Scorpion... only for God Scorpion to then turn on King-Ohger!
...Or so the story goes.

God Scorpion's sudden rampage towards King-Ohger leaves Gira marked as a fugitive once again. While he tries to evade capture by Racules' forces, Yanma and Himeno try to purge their respective Shugods of God Scorpion's poison. As their respective allies work to repair the Shugods before the next Bognaarok attack, Himeno reveals to Yanma why she's so determined to get God Scorpion at any costs.

Tropes

  • Bad "Bad Acting": When Gira makes his "escape", Yanma and Himeno promptly phone in their calls for his capture.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Yanma and Himeno both agree that Gira wouldn't be dumb enough to interfere during Gundajim's attack given he's a fugitive. Cue Sasorine bursting forth from the ground to combat Gundajim's posse...and Gira following on-foot after.
  • Broken Aesop: Yanma accuses Gira of trying to solve everything himself instead of helping out during Gundajim's assault and passes along the message that You Are Not Alone, yet the entire episode has been hammering home how quickly Gira would get himself caught and killed if he simply rushed back into public. That's ignoring the fact that the one person that can understand Shugods trying to talk a Shugod down is helping out in its own way.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Gira trying to sneak back to the orphanage, only to find the King's advisors and Rita lying in wait, who inform him that Racules wants an audience with him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Himeno's parents were both assassinated 15 years ago via an unknown toxin by a cloaked figure. To make things worse, she was a first-hand witness to her parents' death.
  • Hope Spot: Yanma and Himeno let Gira go free in spite of his status as a fugitive... then when he arrives at the orphanage he runs into Rita, who tells him that Racules had requested a Trial by Combat.
  • Let No Crisis Go to Waste: Racules didn't plan on God Scorpion attacking King-Ohger ZERO, but as it suits his plan to gain popularity with the masses at the cost of Gira's reputation he simply let it slide.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Sasorine attacking King-Ohger ZERO at the end of the last episode only gives Racules' claim that Gira's siding with the Boggnarok more legitimacy to Shuggodam's populace.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Gundajim choosing to focus on beating up its subordinate Sanagim buys the heroes enough time to cure the Shugods and for Himeno to sway God Scorpion to their side.
  • Parental Abandonment:
    • Himeno reveals that both of her parents were assassinated, with the poison used being resembling a scorpion's venom.
    • After Himeno claims that Yanma wouldn't know the pain of losing someone he loves, Yanma quietly reveals that he doesn't know who his parents are.
  • The Reveal: A catastrophe known as the "Fury of the Gods'' happened fifteen years prior, during which an assassin took the lives of Himeno's parents while they were distracted with taking care of injured civilians. Due to this, Himeno believes that the disaster didn't happen by chance, but rather was orchestrated by someone.
  • Robo Romance: Himeno deduces that God Scorpion's rescue of God Kabuto was because it has a crush on Kabuto, which Scorpion bashfully reacts to.
  • Slobs vs. Snobs: The delinquent-looking N'Kosopans are contrasted with the refined Ishabanans in their Friendly Rivalry to cure the injured Shugods.
  • Spotting the Thread: At the start of the episode, Himeno and Yanma both notice that God Kuwagata ZERO was mysteriously unaffected by God Scorpion's poison.
  • Staring Down Cthulhu: While getting God Scorpion on their side, Himeno literally stares the literal giant scorpion god down even as it has its stinger feet from her face, all without even flinching. This seems to earn Scorpion's respect.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Invoked a few times.
    • Gira tries to leave the orphanage to help out against Gundajim, but is stopped. The kids explain that being an official fugitive (instead of a mere outsider), means Gira won't just be gawked at by onlookers but will be caught and executed if he outs himself. He's ultimately forced to leave the current incursion to Rita and Kaguragi - going off to confront Sasorine instead.
    • The children harboring Gira in the orphanage use Reverse Psychology to trick a guard into thinking they've disowned him. The adults aren't stupid and the episode ends with Rita and Shuggodam guards intercepting Gira there.
  • The Magic Versus Technology War: Or biology versus technology in this case. Believing the Shugods' nature to be either one or the other, Himeno and Yanma have their best doctors/hackers pit against each other to see whose methods can cure their Shugod of God Scorpion's venom. It's only when Sebastian and Shiokara had them put aside their differences and work together that finally allowed their Shugods to fully recover.
  • True Companions: Yanma brings up Gira's habit of asking people to join his crew to explain that they need to be working together; effectively stating he has the guy's back and expects the same out of him going forward. Gira then sports a goofy grin and tries to get a flustered Yanma to outright admit they're friends, to no avail.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After Gira's failed attempts to get through to Sasorine, Yanma accuses him of trying to solve the problem himself instead of helping out everyone else.
  • Wham Shot:
    • The assassin of Himeno's parents hopping on what is clearly a Cicada Shugod.
    • Gira turning on the lights and seeing the King's advisors and Rita in the orphanage.
