As everyone recovers from what happened, the residents of the Owl House deal with answering questions and settling into their new normal.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Atrocious Alias: When asked for a last name by Alador, Hunter goes with "Robinwitch".
  • "Be Quiet!" Nudge: Viney elbows Jerbo when he brings up Luz and Amity having broken up and how it might affect Amity's decision to stay at the Owl House for the time being.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Edric and Hunter share one onscreen for the first time after the former pulls the latter away from his father.
  • Big Damn Reunion: Willow, Gus, Skara, Bo and the troublemakers visit the Owl House to have one with the girls, with Willow pulling Luz and Amity into seperate hugs with Gus and Skara respectively.
  • Broken Pedestal: Because of what Emperor Belos did to Puck and almost did to Luz and Eda, Amity now sees him for the lying, murderous tyrant that he is.
  • The Cameo:
    • Nicole, Tiny Nose and Larry (making his present day debut) are interviewed by Felicity Fox.
    • Sean and Kitsuni appear when Ms. Traveler goes to see Oberon.
    • Steve briefly appears to report in, only for Lilith to tell him to cease contact with her.
    • Gwendolyn, Rick Sanchez and Lucifer Mange make vocal cameos through the messages they leave on Eda's crystal ball.
  • Cooldown Hug: When Hooty starts crying after learning Puck's dead, Luz pulls him into a hug. She does the same for Amity when she starts getting angry during their memorial to Puck.
  • Declaration of Protection: After everything that happened the previous day, even their breakup, Luz and Amity make it clear they're going to have each other's backs from here on out.
  • Due to the Dead: To cheer Hooty up, Luz, Amity and King host a funeral for Puck, even building a makeshift grave marked with stones.
  • Easily Forgiven: Willow, Skara, Bo and the troublemakers forgive Amity for her spy status. Subverted with Gus, who no longer trusts her.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Felicity Fox appears to be a typical scoop-chasing reporter, always on the hunt for a juicy story and pestering those who could supply her with it.
  • Eye Color Change: At Puck's funeral, Amity's eyes briefly flash purple from her anger towards Belos but nobody notices because they're behind her.
  • He Didn't Make It: Nobody wants to believe that this was the ultimate fate of Anu Bist and hopes he escaped the castle.
  • I Heard That: The chapter ends with Belos turning around as if he's facing someone before saying he can actually hear someone behind him.
  • Immediate Sequel: This chapter takes place a few hours after the Time Skip in the book's prologue.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Learning that her son has a boyfriend on top of all the trouble her youngest daughter's gotten the whole Blight family in, Odalia asks Emira to prepare some tea for her.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Luz reveals to King, Amity, Lilith, Jerbo (who's caught up on everything since "Everything's Gone Wrong"), Barcus, Skara, and Bo the truth about her cambion state and her visit to the Forest of Fear. She also tells the former three about the Emperor's human origins.
    • Skara informs Amity of her cutting ties with Boscha for good.
    • Hunter meets the Blights and informs them and Luz of his relationship with Edric. He also mentions Edric wanting him to attend Grom.
    • Hooty learns of Puck's death from Luz.
  • Kid Has a Point: Jerbo announces how the kids all think it's awkward for Amity to stay at the Owl House in light of her breakup with Luz, getting an elbow bump from Viney for being so blunt.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Felicity Fox shows herself to be a very persistent and invasive reporter, which leads her to get attacked by Hooty when she arrives at the Owl House to force an interview with the Clawthornes.
  • Let's Just Be Friends: Luz and Amity's decision to look out for each other after their breakup is summarized as this when they explain their vow to their friends.
  • Literal Surveillance Bug: On Belos' orders, Hunter bugs both the Owl House and Blight Manor with modified Rusty Smidges that will allow the Emperor to listen in on the residents of both so he can know any move they try to make against him.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten:
    • Gus makes it very clear he isn't letting go what Amity and Lilith did anytime soon, going as far as telling Luz her forgiving them and moving past it is the one decision she made that he can't support.
    • Hunter can only see Lilith as the bleeding-out figure he left near the Forest of Fear after trying to take her life.
  • One-Word Title: After what happened in last season's finale, the reason is clear.
  • Only Mostly Dead: According to Barcus, Lilith is now stuck between life and death (the in-between) due to her revival.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Gus is still mad about Amity's deceit, to the point of it bordering on pure spite. Luz decides he needs more time to accept it.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • King, Lilith and Amity learn that Belos is human, a fact they didn't learn until "Edge of the World" and "Labyrinth Runners", respectively.
    • Lilith meets Hunter outside of his Golden Guard uniform, something that never happens in the show until the epilogue in "Watching and Dreaming".
  • Real After All: Emira is shocked to learn that Edric really does have a boyfriend upon meeting Hunter. Amity's also surprised and wishes she could've seen Em's reaction.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure:
    • Since there's reporters trying to talk to the Blights and the Emperor's Coven is keeping an eye on them, Odalia decides that it's best for Amity to stay at the Owl Huose until things cool down. Odalia also promises to have a talk with her about why she did what she did and hear her out.
    • Despite everything that happened, Principal Bump and Ms. Traveler want Luz and Amity to remain enrolled at Hexside and allow them to take the next week off school until they sort things out, so the girls can recover and for the excitement to die down.
  • The Reveal:
    • Amelia and Cat have been forbidden from speaking to Amity by their parents after the petrification ceremony. Cat's also been forced to drop out of the Human Appreciation Society and join the Surgery Club, despite her squeamishness to organs.
    • Luz reveals to Willow that despite the drama she's had to focus on, she's still become aware of Willow having feelings for Skara.
    • Despite choosing to move past the spying, Luz and Amity haven't gotten back together and aren't sure where their relationship lies now.
    • Rusty Smidges can be used as spying devices due to their camouflaging capabilities and if modified to listen in on conversations.
  • Saying Too Much:
    • Luz has to flick King's nose to make him stop talking when he implies the Emperor's Coven would come after Amity since they already arrested Luz. While Amity's family were listening.
    • Jerbo points out how awkward it is that Amity's staying with the Clawthornes despite her breakup with Luz and questions if they're back together, causing Viney to elbow him for making the girls feel awkward.
  • Shipper on Deck: Luz makes it clear that she supports Willow and Skara and encourages Willow to not be afraid to take a chance.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Rick's appearance here in addition to the trailer for Book 2 officially adds Rick and Morty to the LC-verse.
    • The end of the chapter is based on the What If? episode, "What If... Ultron Won?" where Ultron became powerful enough to notice the Watcher.:
  • Wham Episode: Odalia allows Amity to stay at the Owl House until she can do some damage control. Hooty learns Puck died and has a memorial in his name, Hunter reveals he's Edric's boyfriend to the rest of the Blights and Luz and on Belos' orders, he bugs the Owl House and Blight Manor so Belos can monitor the inhabitants of both. At the end of the chapter, Belos notices someone watching him.
  • Wham Line: Belos is all alone in his throne room while the narration goes on and when it winds down, he turns around like he notices something and says this:
    "I hear you."
