Helter Shelter

Original air date: 5/26/2023

After mistakenly injuring Squidward, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy go wild without a counselor to control them. Mr. Krabs moves them into different cabins: SpongeBob with the rich kids, Patrick with the nerds, and Sandy with the jocks.

"Helter Shelter" contains examples of:

  • Athletically Challenged: When Krabs throws a basketball at Sandy, she doesn't notice it until after it's already passed, and puts her hands up to catch it a second late. However, the aid of her robot appendages turn her into a Jerk Jock.
  • Bookends: The episode starts and ends with Sandy playing the violin and leading SpongeBob and Patrick in a dance.
  • Calculator Spelling: Sandy spells "SHELL-O" on a calculator to try to impress the jocks.
  • Drunk with Power: When Patrick becomes the king of the Pontoon cabin, he forces Harvey and Kevin to joust for his amusement, and casts Bubble Bass into an embarrassing role as the court jester. They eventually get sick of him and kick him out.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: The uptight and proper Lady Upturn has a photo of her acting just as crazy as SpongeBob currently is when she was a kid. Rea and Roh are amused by SpongeBob pulling the picture out, and Upturn tears it into bits.
  • Jerkass: Nurse Helga aggressively sprays an anti-visitor aerosol can at someone who's visiting the hospital with flowers for a patient.
  • Jerk Jock: Larry gives Sandy a weight that's too heavy for her, and the other Frigate jocks laugh at her for it. She eventually gets her revenge by punching them out of the cabin with her ultra-powerful inventions.
  • Loophole Abuse: After accidentally injuring counselor Squidward, Sandy, SpongeBob, and Patrick realize they don't have to follow any rules.
Sandy: (gasps) I just realized something. We don't have a counselor now!
SpongeBob: Yeah. And no counselor means no rules. (gasps) We can do anything!
    Patrick: Ohh! We're free?
[their clothes rip off and they become feral]
  • Musical Number Annoyance: Squidward gets so annoyed by SpongeBob and Patrick making noise from dancing to Sandy's song that he opens the door and shouts "Hey, that's enough!"
  • Overly Long Gag: SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy repeatedly crying at being taken away from each other. It gets to the point where Mr. Krabs spends ten straight seconds trying to pull them apart, and that's only the last time it happens.
  • Pet the Dog: When SpongeBob cries Ocular Gushers after being taken away from his friends, he hugs Lady Upturn. She pats him on the back, albeit slightly unnerved with it.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode's title comes from a song by The Beatles.
  • Rhyming Title: "Helter Shelter"
  • Shout-Out: Patrick accidentally recreates the Arthurian Legend when he pulls a wooden sword out of a bucket, akin to the sword in the stone. (He thought it was a butt scratcher.) The other Pontoon residents crown him king, until he goes Drunk with Power and they throw him out.
  • Suspiciously Apropos Music: Sandy leads SpongeBob and Patrick to dance to an upbeat square dance tune, where the lyrics perfectly describe their actions. She even keeps up with it when Squidward interrupts and gets dragged in as well.

Reveille Revolution

Original air date: 5/26/2023

Everyone hates Squidward's morning "Reveille" performance, so when an anchovy upstages him with smooth trumpet playing, Mr. Krabs is quick to replace him. SpongeBob helps Squidward practice to get his job back.

"Reveille Revolution" contains examples of:

  • Alliterative Title: Reveille Revolution.
  • Circling Birdies: When Squidward is injured by a chain reaction of instruments, he has clarinets circling around his head.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the items SpongeBob has in his Stalker Shrine to Squidward is his toy cow from when he was a baby, previously seen in "Kamp Kow".
  • Crashing Dreams: Mr. Krabs' dream of going into a Tunnel of Love with a bag of money is interrupted when Squidward's clarinet comes out of the bag and wakes him up.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Patrick somehow manages to eat the music notes that come out of the anchovies' trumpets.
  • Gone Horribly Right: The anchovies' Reveille playing is indeed really good. The problem is that it fails to wake up the campers. Krabs puts Squidward back in charge because his awful playing angers the campers enough to get them out of bed.
  • It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: The episode ends with SpongeBob drawing a picture of Squidward, captioned "Best Waker Upper Ever!"
  • Loony Fan: SpongeBob is an obsessive fan of Squidward's music, having recorded his clarinet performances and made self-published albums out of them. He's also the only one who helps Squidward get his job back.
  • Not in Front of the Kid: When Mr. Krabs and Squidward are listening to the anchovies' music playing.
Krabs: Ah, the beautiful sounds of "Anchoveille."
Squidward: "Anchoveille"? You gave it a special name already?
Krabs: Well, yours has a special name too, but I'm not supposed to use such language around the children.
  • Stalker Shrine: SpongeBob reveals that he keeps a cabinet of Squidward memorabilia under the cabin, including his baby toys, a jar of his baby teeth, paintings he's made, and albums of Squidward's music that SpongeBob recorded and published himself.
  • Surprisingly Happy Ending: Squidward isn't able to stop the anchovies from taking his job, and even SpongeBob's support doesn't help. But the next morning, it turns out that the Anchovielle is so good that it doesn't wake up the campers like it's supposed to. Krabs, in a panic, gives Squidward his position back since his bad playing at least gets the job done.
  • Tap on the Head: Defied. Squidward is about to bludgeon Mr. Krabs over the head with his clarinet. Krabs, without even looking back, simply suggests that he rethink what he's doing.
  • Toilet Humor: SpongeBob and Squidward practice playing clarinet in the outhouse. Another camper, pulling up his pants, says that Squidward's music playing is the worst sound he's heard in there today.
