Post-Opening Sequence Line: "Hey, you, the kid who missed last week's show! You'd better have a good excuse!"

Forget Me Not

When Garfield gets hit on the head with a pie tin, he gets amnesia, becoming a polite and health-concious felnie. Jon and Odie try to help restore his memories.

I Like Having You Around

Orson writes in his diary about a disagreement between the sheep twins, Bo and Lanolin that caused Bo to leave the farm.

Sales Resistance

Jon warns Garfield not to buy any more useless junk from the shopping channel or he will cut off his lasagna for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, Garfield has trouble getting rid of Herbert Finagle, a persistent elephant repellant salesman.

"Forget Me Not" provides examples of:

  • Big Eater: To try to restore Garfield's memory, Jon lays out an entire banquet of food for him to eat. Upon seeing it, Garfield says "I wonder what army is coming by to eat all", but politely opts to just have raisins instead. When Garfield regains his memories at the end, he eats the banquet of food.
  • Identity Amnesia: Garfield loses his memories and interests upon being hit by a pie tin; these return when a lasagna pan hits him.
  • Injury Bookend: Garfield loses his memories and interests when he gets hit by a pie tin, and regains them after he gets hit again, this time by a lasagna pan.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Jon realizes that something's wrong with Garfield when he refuses to eat lasagna, asking for a salad with low-calorie dressing instead.
    • Liz begins to realize something is wrong with Garfield when he asks her if she's sure he's not due for his shots.
    • After Jon lays out a banquet of food for Garfield to eat in an attempt to restore his memory, Garfield decides he isn't all that hungry and opts to eat raisins instead. Raisins are one of the few foods that Garfield refuses to eat, so Jon and Odie are shocked upon seeing this.
    • The dog who bullied Garfield for the pie he took earlier is shocked when Garfield willingly gives him his lasagna, sure that what Garfield did to him is a trick.
  • Shout-Out: When Garfield awakens after being knocked out, he says "Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Are we still in Kansas?"
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: Garfield is hit on the head and gets amnesia, becoming a sweet, polite, cat who only eats healthy food and wouldn't dream of kicking Odie off the table. Jon and Odie are worried and take him to the vet. The vet wonders why they want to restore Garfield to normal. By the end of the episode, a second hit has him back to normal. Garfield promptly eats everything in sight and kicks Odie off the table. Jon and Odie couldn't be happier.
  • Wheel of Decisions: This episode begins with Garfield spinning a wheel to decide what he does, with the two options being "Sleep" and "Eat". The wheel lands on "Sleep".

"I Like Having You Around" provides examples of:

  • Achilles in His Tent: When a windstorm hits the farm, Lanolin comes to the old shack Bo moved into to tell him to come back to the farm where it's safe. Bo refuses to come back unless Lanolin admits that she misses him.
  • Big Sister Instinct: When a windstorm breaks out, Lanolin is worried about Bo, knowing that the old shack won't survive the storm, and she goes out in the storm to find Bo and bring him back to the farm.
  • Big Storm Episode: This episode's climax has a windstorm hit the farm. Everyone on the farm heads into the cellar, but Bo, who now lives in an old abandoned cabin in a hill, refuses to join them unless Lanolin admits that she misses him.
  • Counting Sheep: Inverted; Bo, a sheep, finds he isn't sleepy, so he decides to count people until he dozes off.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: When the storm breaks out, Lanolin wastes no time in rescuing Bo, then ends up swallowing her pride and telling him she missed him to get him to come back to the farm, realizing it's the only way he'll do so. After rescuing Bo, she sings the eponymous song to prove to him that she cares about him.
  • The Runaway: Bo decides to leave the farm when he believes that Lanolin doesn't want him around, and decides to live in an old, abandoned cabin on the top of a hill.
  • Shrunk in the Wash: A variant; Lanolin locks Bo out of the barn during a rainstorm, causing his wool to shrink.

"Sales Resistance" provides examples of:

  • By the Lights of Their Eyes: Garfield is forced into a closet by Mr. Finagle, who has entered the Arbuckle house and will not leave; only their eyes are visible before Garfield turns on a light.
  • Compressed Vice: This episode revolves around Garfield's obsession with buying useless stuff off the Shopping Channel - an obsession which he has only in this episode.
  • Denied Food as Punishment: Jon threatens to never feed Garfield lasagna again for the rest of his life (in those exact words) should Garfield spend his money to buy another useless, overpriced item again from a conniving salesman.
  • Furniture Blockade: After kicking Mr. Finagle out of his house, Garfield places furniture in front of the door to keep him from coming back in. This doesn't work when Garfield finds Mr. Finagle
  • Honest John's Dealership: Garfield orders an elephant repeller from Mr. Finagle after hearing that the first twenty callers get it for free. When Mr. Finagle comes to Jon's house, Garfield finds out that while the elephant repeller was free, he has to pay a total of $28.00 for handling, delivery, and stocking.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Finagle sells Jon an elephant repeller, saying that he will pay him $1,000.00 if it doesn't work, despite the the fact there isn't an elephant within 1,000 miles of Jon's house. It turns out that the elephant repeller attracts elephants, meaning that Mr. Finagle owes Jon $1,000.00.
  • Loophole Abuse: Garfield wants to buy an elephant repeller after seeing it being advertised on the shopping channel. He resists when he remembers Jon threatening to cut off his lasagna for the rest of his life, but when he overhears that the first twenty callers get free elephant repellers, he orders one.
  • Obsessive Hobby Episode: Jon tells Garfield to not buy stuff from TV informercials, or else he won't get lasagna for the rest of his life. Garfield struggles with this Compressed Vice.
  • Vanity License Plate: Mr. Finagle's car has a license plate on it that says BIGDEAL.
  • Writers Cannot Do Math: Mr. Finagle charges Garfield $2.00 for handling, $5.00 for delivery, and $9.00 for restocking, saying the total comes to $28.00. Mr. Finangle's total should have come to $16.00. Of course, Finagle is a con artist, so the math coming up wrong is probably intentional.
