After Carter has a heart attack, Peter takes over his company.

- One of the things that Peter has Carter do to humiliate him is to invite coworkers to a viewing party of The Big Bang Theory, which Carter doesn't watch and no one comes to. After finding Dr. House, he asks if he wants to come to watch TBBT because he genuinely likes it now.
- Joe is unable to enter the building, due to the lack of a wheelchair ramp and is just left out there. Later, as Carter is removed by security, he asks what Joe is doing there.
- Dramatic Unmask: The swamp monster was really Dr. House all along.
- Freeze-Frame Ending: Parodied. After learning that he got to keep the corporate plane, Peter jumps into the air in joy. But after a few seconds, it's revealed that he's actually stuck there and Lois runs off to find a scientist who can help.
- Pet the Dog: After scaring Peter into signing the company back to Carter, Lois reveals that the contract allowed him to keep the corporate plane, leading to the Freeze-Frame Ending above.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Parodied when a young nurse tells Dr. House that the only way to save Carter is to follow the rulebook. House immediately throws it out the window.Peter: Well, wait a second, how you gonna play by the rules if you don't have the ruleboo—ohhhhhh!
- Shout-Out:
- "If you're watching this one, it means the train wasn't able to push the DeLorean up to 88 miles per hour, and I'm still stuck in 1885."
- The whole swamp monsters sequence riffs on Scooby-Doo tropes.

- Swamp Monster: Spoofed. Lois suggests her dad dress up as a swamp monster to scare Peter away, before a real swamp monster shows up. A Scooby-Dooby Doors chase scene ensues before the swamp monster is actually revealed to be Hugh Laurie.
- Video Will: Carter has one, and he planned for a variety of scenarios referring to different ways he may've died. Carter's lawyer eventually fast-fowards over this material to get to the important details.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Peter's biggest fear is revealed to be swamp monsters.
- "YEAH!" Shot: Parodied. The episode seemingly ends this way, until Peter gets stuck in mid-air and can't get down.
