The body of a woman named Trixie Velvet is reported in an alley behind a diner.

Tropes:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Lydia Holly is this to Jones during the Additional Investigation, where she requests that the player finds her binoculars that she'd accidentally dropped in the alleyway, and that she now wants a "handsome policeman" to retrieve for her, hence her calling the two of you.
Jones: [nervously] Err... I see. <Player's Name> and I will find them fast, then. Like really, really fast, right <Player's Name>?
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Alice killed Trixie because she rejected her love confession.
  • Alliterative Name: The killer, Alice August.
  • The Bartender: Alice August.
  • Bludgeoned to Death: Trixie was killed by being hit in the face with a hammer.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Marconi really ramps up his snarkiness in this case.
Marconi: You... want to know what perfume I wear, and what pets I have? Is this Random Question Day, officers?
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Although Tony Marconi is a mafia boss suspected in orchestrating a number of crimes, he flatly tells Jones that he would never beat a defenseless woman to death with a hammer, especially if she was one of his strippers and was profitable to him.
  • Facial Horror: Trixie's face after her beatdown. Dear lord.
  • Foreshadowing: Biff tells the player that if Cordero and Marconi were to run into each other, things could get very ugly. Well...
  • Gentle Giant: Biff Wellington, the bouncer of the club the victim worked in, is shown to be quite a sweetheart... as long as you don't mess up with the girls he's supposed to protect.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Colin, Lydia, and Alice love cats, although the latter might not be so kindhearted after all..
  • Love Letter: Alice used to send them to Trixie, who loved them... until she found out they were from a girl.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Lydia.
    Lydia: This is all so...
... exciting, isn't it?! I heard screams, and when I peeked out that poor girl was on the ground, and her attacker was running away!
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Trixie was absolutely massacred by her killer, with Nathan calculating at least ten blows being delivered to her face.
Nathan: Whoever killed that woman didn't just want her dead, they wanted her obliterated!
  • Not Good with Rejection: Alice doesn't take being rejected by Trixie well. Which is why she kills her.
Alice: And I got... I go so ANGRY, you know? How could she lie to me? How could she REJECT me?!
Alice: So I... I grabbed that hammer and I... I just... I was so angry...
  • Psycho Lesbian: Trixie was killed by a girl who had a crush on her, who went crazy and bashed her head with a hammer after being rejected by her.
  • I Read It for the Articles: Jones uses a variation of this after he inadvertently lets you know the victim worked in a stripper bar.
Jones: [Blushing] What? I used to go there for the music!
  • Red Herring: A creepy, loner pervert who stalked Trixie for months, had a vial of the same perfume she used, and even stole her own necklace? Even Jones thinks it's a little too obvious.
Jones: At the rate this is going, Colin will confess to murdering Trixie before we even find solid proof that he did it! Perfect!
Jones: MY guts tell me Colin did it. He's way too creepy to be honest.
  • Shout-Out: Jones refers to suspect Lydia Holly as "Miss Marple," due to her extreme fascination with murder mysteries.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Trixie had two stalkers: Colin Strokes, a geeky pervert who collected photos of women, and Alice August, a friend and coworker who was secretly in love with her. Surprisingly, it was the latter who ended up murdering her.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Jones after suggesting going back to the nightclub.
Jones: [Blushing] No, it's not at all to see Alice! I'm sure there's an important clue hidden in this club!
