Go To

The family's new attorney works on George Sr.'s defense as he plans his escape. Michael tries to destroy all evidence of his family so he won't have to introduce them to Rita. Gob demonstrates his "Forget-me-now" pills.

The Arrested Development episode "Forget-Me-Now" provides examples of:

  • Americans Are Cowboys: The American themed resturaunt in Wee Britain is this with other Eagleland themes thrown in.
Michael: Is this what the British think of Americans?
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Steve Holt, believing he slept with his cousin, Maeby, admits to GOB (his genetic father) that he's "made a huge mistake".
  • Dude, She's Like in a Coma:
    • GOB starts his moves on unconscious Rita but Lucille intervenes.
Lucille: All right, let's not add that to the charges.
    • Apparently Maeby undresses Steve while he passed out.
  • Easy Amnesia: Apparently there is a pill that makes you loose your short-term memory. It works on Rita and Steve.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Michael criticizes the typical American but in a way that makes him an example as well.
"No attention span. You know, can't even carry on a typical conver..."
  • I Have No Son!: Played with, by Gob:
Gob: Steve Holt's not my son.
George-Michael: Steve Holt? The moron jock?
Gob: That's my son, you pothead.
  • Imagined Innuendo: Lindsay takes Bob Loblaw's "I will be needing to get off in four minutes" the wrong way.
  • Kitschy Themed Restaurant: Michael and Rita dine twice in one of these.
  • Mood Whiplash: The last scene of GOB taking his amnesia pill to forget that he talked to Steve is surprisingly emotional compared to the comical tone of the series.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations: Lindsay believes she is flirting with Bob Loblaw while he thinks he is handling her divorce.
  • Pretentious Pronunciation: Tobias insists it it pronounced "A-nal-rapist".
  • The Problem with Pen Island: Tobias is an analyst and a therapist, and describes his profession with the self-coined portmanteau 'analrapist'. Needless to say, Tobias was mostly unaware of this trope being in effect when people reacted with shock upon seeing his business cards as he pronounced it differently than you'd imagine, so he didn't see it as an issue until later.
  • Punny Name: Bob Loblaw.
  • Reading the Stage Directions Out Loud: "Wink".
  • Sequel Hook: "But Michael Bluth will return in 'Notapusy'."
  • Slipping a Mickey: Maeby does this to Steve.
  • Tap on the Head: Rita goes out for quite some time after Buster hits her in the head.
  • Title Drop: The only time in all five seasons that the title of the series is said out loud in dialogue (by Michael). The Narrator lampshades it.
Narrator: Hey, that's the name of the show!
