Basic Trope: The prettiest, most popular, and sweetest girl in High School. She's as kind and compassionate as she is beautiful and adored.

  • Straight: Alice, a beautiful blonde cheerleader, and the most popular girl in school, is kind and thoughtful to Becky and Claire, despite the latter two being considerably less popular than her.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed:
    • Alice is liked by everyone, but not in the sense that the whole school has her up on a pedestal. She’s still popular, but the students don’t worship the ground she walks on.
    • Alice is super popular and nice but in a casual way. She’s not mean to anyone, but she doesn’t go out of her way to be super sweet.
    • Lovable Alpha Bitch
  • Justified: Alice used to be a loser when she was young, and she was picked on by the Alpha Bitch and her Girl Posse for not being as cool as they were. Now that’s she’s one of the popular girls, she doesn’t want to put anyone through what she went through.
  • Inverted:
    • Alpha Bitch
    • She's nice to people she likes, who are nice to others, but she’s also a Bully Hunter who will not hesitate to go into Alpha Bitch mode to ruin the lives of anyone who picks on her, her friends, or other people for zero and/or petty reasons.
    • She tried to become a Class Princess, but everyone thought her kindness was fake and accused her of being a mean girl in disguise, so she said, “You want a mean girl? You got it.” From then on, she became a complete Alpha Bitch.
    • Alice is unattractive, rude to everybody, and not even the unpopular kids want anything to do with her.
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted:
    • Alice may seem sweet, but to certain people, she can act like a total Alpha Bitch… until it’s revealed that:
      • She was pressured into doing it by her Alpha Bitch friend, who is really the Greater-Scope Villain posing as Alice’s Beta Bitch, really pulling the strings while hiding behind Alice.
      • Alice is doing it to protect the students from a greater wrong.
    • Alice is a sweet, pretty, talented, but not very popular girl. Except that she's much more popular than she realizes, and most people actually love her even if she's not part of the popular crowd.
  • Parodied: Whenever Alice steps into school, her classmates in the halls Make Way for the Princess, angels appear, harp music plays, and Alice herself is bathed in a warm, heavenly golden glow to represent her saintly status.
  • Zig Zagged:
  • Averted: Alice is of normal popularity and normal amounts of sincerity.
  • Enforced:
    • It’s a high school setting, and the laws state that there must be a single most popular girl and boy, but the author doesn’t want them to be mean, so they make them a Class Princess and Big Man on Campus instead of an Alpha Bitch and a Jerk Jock.
    • She’s the love interest to the main character, who is a Dogged Nice Guy or girl. Since the hero can’t end up with a mean girl in the end, they make her kind and lovable as well as popular so he can get the girl.
    • The author was a loser in high school, desperate to be popular and adored. So they make the main character in their story a Class Princess in High School to live vicariously through them, the way a parent tries to live their dreams vicariously through their child.
  • Lampshaded: "Gee, Alice, you’re so popular and pretty, yet you’re still nice to everyone. Most girls would use that status to torment the people they hate, but not you."
  • Invoked: Alice wants be super popular and liked by everyone, but she doesn’t want to be mean to achieve it, so she just works on being the best she can be.
  • Discussed:
    Diana: Who's that?
Becky: That's Alice. She’s the prettiest and most popular girl here.
Diana: Super hot, super popular…I’m guessing she’s the school bitch.
Claire: You’d think that, but you’re wrong. Alice is actually one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. She’s never mean to anyone, not even the geeks and losers.
  • Conversed: “It’s really refreshing to see when the most popular girl in school is actually a sweet person instead of a bullying bitch."
  • Deconstructed:
    • Alice is sweet and polite to everyone…but only as long as she remains the most popular girl in school. If someone else threatens her position at the top of the Popularity Food Chain, she turns into a total Alpha Bitch and seeks to ruin her rival to keep her crown.
    • Alice thinks she’s popular, but really, everyone is just taking advantage of her kindness. The only reason they want to be around her so much is that it’s easy to convince her to do favors for them without asking for anything in return because, of course, she’s too sweet to say no.
    • Alice's behavior accelerates as time goes on, her sweetness amplifying into Condescending Compassion, turning everyone off.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Alice’s rival, who she tried to ruin for becoming more popular than her, triumphs and becomes a straight example of the Class Princess.
    • Alice puts her foot down to everyone who was using her to do favors for them. Over time, she becomes more assertive but retains her sweet personality, and everyone learns to like her for her, making her a straight example.
    • Alice tones down her sweetness, realizing she was overdoing it, and everyone comes back to loving her.
  • Played For Laughs:
    • All the students in school kneel before Alice, who is dressed like the Virgin Mary, a halo glowing over her head.
    • Alice goes through the school halls, dressed like a Princess Classic, smiling and thanking the students who are bowing and curtsying to her.
  • Played For Drama:

Back to Class Princess.
