Story and lore:

Gameplay:

  • If Hanzo has either of his "young" skins and the "Superior" highlight intro, he'll take a badass glance to the camera as usual… only for his hair to cover his entire eye.
  • Some heroes, mainly Genji, Reaper, Soldier: 76 and Hanzo have skins based on their younger appearances but with the same voice clips from their standard skins, giving an unintentionally amusing heap of Vocal Dissonance. It's especially hilarious hearing Soldier: 76 in his Strike-Commander Morrison skin saying upon respawning "I'm not a young man anymore," even though he clearly is. Exemplified with Reaper's Blackwatch Reyes Skin, as his voice shouldn't be gravelly or ominous-sounding like in his regular skin. However, Reaper sounds relatively normal during the default version of Retribution, including changing all of his standard voice lines to use his regular Reyes voice, making this a lot more egregious.
  • It can be amusing when a player sees a friendly Soldier: 76 using his Tactical Visor and saying "Tactical Visor activated" if he's in his Commando: 76, Night Ops: 76, or Daredevil: 76 skins, because he has no visor, or any facial equipment to speak of in those skins.
  • Symmetra as The Summoner can say one of two lines when she first appears. While "The dragon fire consumes all!" is pretty much a Badass Boast, her other quote, "I have been summoned!", sounds like she’s well aware that this is a fictional story.
  • When characters fall to their death, they let a long scream. Fitting if they fall into a Bottomless Pit, but just silly if they fall into water, or if the drop is something that a normal human could reasonably survive (e.g: slowly sliding off the rocks in Necropolis, off the map in Ayutaya, or into water in Rialto).
  • Tracer's character selection animation has her smile and pose before blowing some hair out of her face, but Blizzard apparently neglected to keep that in mind when designing some of her skins. Thus, you'll see the same animation play even when her hair is too short, pulled away from her face, or even when she's wearing a helmet.
  • Pharah's Enchanted Armor skin has her with no head. It can be creepy normally, but if you have her highlight intro be Mission Complete, then it’s quite hilarious that she dramatically takes off her helmet heroically when there’s nothing inside it.
