Blue Lock might be Darker and Edgier than your average sports manga, but at the same time it is also filled with many comedic moments.

     Main Story

General

  • Bachira is practically a Heroic Comedic Sociopath for about 80% of his screen time when he isn't playing.
  • Many of the characters fill every criteria for Bunny-Ears Lawyer or Genius Ditz.
  • The over-the-top edgy boasts and dialogue in general has already become a Fountain of Memes. The English dub lines are practically in a league of their own.
  • The Additional Time segments in the anime. There's too many to list individually but to name a few standouts, there's the recurring gag of Team Z doing the impressions game that include the burly Kunigami imitating a crying Niko and the withdrawn Chigiri doing a spot-on impersonation of Jinpachi Ego himself. Then there are the segments showing how other teams formed in the Second Selection where we see Zantetsu come to the very late conclusion that Reo and Nagi finished before him and moved on along with Iemon being so exicited about not playing goalie anymore that he faints when Imamura teases him. And of course, Isagi and Nagi brainstorming the idea of a Maid Barou cafe right in front of the genuine article who does not take it well.
  • On a meta level, the fact that the Japanese spiny lobster - one of the most obscure marine animals - became not only well-known internationally by various fans from different countries, but also ended up being a staple in Fan Art and official art simply because the author listed it as Isagi's favorite animal in side material, something that barely gets referenced in the series itself.
  • Anything Gagamaru says or does is most likely to end up as this.
  • The disparity between On-Field Isagi vs Off-Field Isagi can be best summed up as such. You would not be mistaken if you assumed these were two different characters. The same thing can go for various other Blue Lock players, mainly Barou, King of the Field and Maid of the Bunks

Phase One: First Selection Saga

  • Bachira's utterly lackadaisical demeanor for almost the entirety of the first exam. He attempts to kick people just because it's not explicitly against the rules and gleefully chats up Isagi afterwards as if he didn't just end another person's potential football career in a matter of seconds.
  • The Running Gag of players who underperformed getting worse food and subsequently getting jealous of other players who outperformed them and got better food.
  • The Wanima brothers have such a deep crocodile motif, that their eyebrows (Junichi) and sides of hair (Keisuke) are shaved to resemble crocodiles.
  • Nagi randomly asking Reo for money after recognizing him as "that rich guy's son" during their first meeting. Even after Reo compliments his smartphone trap and says he should play football, Nagi is unfazed and just asks for money again.
  • The fact that everything about Zantetsu's character design screams The Smart Guy only for it to be a Subverted Trope and the gag is that he's pretending to be this archetype right down to wearing fake glasses.
  • Igarashi blocking Nagi's shot with his face. Doubles as a moment of Awesome.
  • Zantetsu and Chigiri's mini-rivarly in the Team Z vs Team V match due to both of them being their respective team's speedster. All the while they're insulting each other whenever one gets the upperhand on the other.

Second Selection Saga

  • The revelation that the older Wanima brother can actually talk and the shocked reactions of anyone who's around to hear it.
  • Barou and Nagi becoming each other's Sitcom Archnemesis.
    • In turn, Isagi is forced to constantly mediate between the two.
  • The revelation that the tall, muscular, arrogant and constantly glaring Barou is a Neat Freak.
  • Similarly, the sheer dissonance between Tokimitsu's chiseled physique and his unconfident personality. That he is practically a stronger version of Barou makes it even more deliciously ironic.
  • Pretty much anytime Aryu is on screen can elicit a chuckle. His interaction with Chigiri deserves special mention since he goes from acknowledging him as an equal in "glam" to freaking out when he calls him by his given name which is decidedly "not glam".
  • Isagi becomes so obsessed with emulating Rin that he tries to copy the latter's complicated training routine. At first, Rin tries to play it cool and leaves him be. As Isagi continuously tries to copy Rin's increasingly more complicated yoga poses... up until Rin flat-out flexes on him with a One Arm Handstand, calling it 'You're-never-gonna-beat-me pose', showing that Rin is Not So Above It All.
    • Amusingly, Isagi still tries to do it, only to fail and accidentally crash on Rin, much to the latter's shock. In the next scene, Rin angrily holds Isagi by the collar, while Isagi sheepishly apologizes.
  • Barou in a Maid Outfit.

Third Selection Saga

  • Being the only member with any proficiency in English, Rin gets roped into becoming the English language tutor for Aryu, Bachira, Isagi and Tokimitsu. Soon enough, the antics of the other members bring Rin to the Rage Breaking Point showing once again that he is Not So Stoic. The whole scene looks like an elementary school teacher on his first day at work.
  • Poor, poor Shuto Sendo. Even though he is supposed to be one of the best players of his age group, he is regularly suffering as the team's most prominent Butt-Monkey.

     Episode Nagi
  • Just the fact that Nagi used to deliberately prick himself on his cactus companion Choki's needle in order to wake himself up in the morning.
  • Ba-Ya's Gag Nose makes her look like a Wicked Witch, something that Nagi can't help but to acknowledge in his internal monologue whenever he sees her.
  • Reo using his businessman skills to rally others for his own means. He's able to assemble his own soccer team by promising that they'd get to meet idols if they did well and shortly after entering Blue Lock, he establishes control over the rest of Team V by bartering with his higher quality food. Apparently, while he refuses to inherit his family's company, he definitely thinks like an entrepreneur. Also qualifies as a moment of awesome.
  • Nagi's attempts to get out of actually playing as much as he can, such as switching with the goalkeeper so he can use the net as a hammock and trying to make Reo and Zantetsu get along just so they can do all the work instead.
  • Speaking of, Zantetsu is a wellspring of comedy from the start of this series. He's introduced putting on his Blue Lock uniform upside down and manages to misunderstand the rules of tag badly enough to think that making himself "it" was an instant win. During their first match against Team Y, Reo even tricks him into bumping heads with Niko by slowing down and throughout all of this he's constantly using English idioms incorrectly and comments that he'll have to Google the term "super elite". Even his backstory is a bit hilarious when it's revealed the whole reason he's fast is because he couldn't understand train schedules as a kid and ended up running everywhere instead.
  • Reo motivating Nagi by reminding him that he can get his phone back by scoring goals. It even Crosses the Line Twice when Nagi asks Reo to use the points from his hat trick to win it for him to which the latter refuses.
