Due to the huge cast and numerous interactions, many shipping moments also come along. Specific examples shown below.

Shoving meat in your friend's mouth while they blush. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Isagi and Bachira

  • Bachira develops an interest in Isagi right away claiming he also has a monster, and frequently gets grabby with him. He tries to feed him steak after their first win and can be seen on his back in some form of victory hug after defeating Team V.

  • Isagi expresses some of his own fondness for Bachira and is devestated when he's taken by the Top 3. He comes close to crying over it and his new mission quickly becomes to get him back despite his earlier determination to poach Rin.

  • In Rin's match against Isagi's team, Bachira becomes worried about him having evolved to the point that he doesn't want him anymore and will pick Rin to be on his team if he wins. He gains new determination and has an awakening that started from the fear of Isagi leaving him.

Reo and Nagi

  • Until the 2nd Selection, Reo and Nagi are seldom seen apart and their dynamic comes off to many as that of a couple. For starters, Reo unabashedly refers to Nagi as his "treasure". This is presumably meant to indicate he's someone with rare talent that everyone except him overlooked, but to most it just seems like a cute pet name.

  • Zantetsu remarks that Reo is constantly spoiling Nagi which can be read as him being a doting boyfriend. Such pampering includes, carrying Nagi around via piggyback rides, buying him cleats, as well as giving him back massages.

  • During the latter half of Team Z vs Team V, Reo becomes overwhelmed and is on the verge of a breakdown when it seems like they're starting to lose. Nagi notices his distress from across the field and looks concerned. He then rushes over and asks for the ball, proceeding to make his own plays for the first time and eventually score a goal; much to the shock of everyone including Reo. The entire scene gives off "Don't mess with my boyfriend" vibes.

  • After this, Nagi chooses to pair up with Isagi and Bachira thus leaving Reo behind. This particular instance feels so much like a breakup that it's referred to as such by almost everyone including the characters themselves. While Reo is sulking, Chigiri explicitly says he got dumped. Episode Nagi also provides more of Reo's perspective during this time and it doubles down on the comparison. When he asks why Chigiri and Kunigami want him on their 3 person team, they each remark that he's incredible; to which Reo gets a dark look on his face and bitterly grumbles that he is incredible, and yet Nagi "left him" for Isagi.

  • An additional time, entitled "Reo: A Maiden in Love" no less, shows the boy playing Loves Me Not. With a toothbrush. Only he's telling himself that Nagi's coming back to him, all with a lovelorn and/or psychotic expression and atmosphere.

  • In the next Team Red vs Team White match, Reo's behavior towards Isagi is practically identical to a jealous ex. While strategizing with Chigiri and Kunigami, he flat out calls dibs on man-marking him and during the game he follows up on this, determined to find out what's so special about Isagi that Nagi would leave him.

  • Episode Nagi, a spin-off series that retells the events of Blue Lock from Nagi and Reo's point of view is chock full of these. It starts with Reo picking Nagi up in his limo so they can arrive to school together. We then see Reo turn down several girls who are clearly interested in him so he can play soccer with Nagi.

  • Later during Reo and Nagi's first match together, Reo praises Nagi for getting into position to score a goal by calling him a "Good Boy" to which Nagi simply replies, "Yes, Boss".

  • When Reo and Nagi first arrive at the Blue Lock orientation, Reo comments on some of the other forwards but gets especially excited when Kira Ryosuke walks in. Nagi who was completely disinterested at first, looks up from his phone and mistakes Isagi for Kira. He then asks if that "average looking shorty" is really the so-called Jewel of Japan. Reo corrects him saying that Kira is the tall, handsome one. To which Nagi replies he doesn't care either way. While this could be chalked up to Nagi's usual attitude, one could also interpret this as him getting jealous over Reo admiring another guy and complimenting his looks.

  • We see that Nagi and Barou's animosity towards each other started early on in the Team V vs Team X match. Chapters 8 and 9 show Reo trying to press Barou only to get dragged and nearly knocked to the ground before Nagi swoops in and saves him with one arm. He goes on to say that he's Reo's partner not a slave, and admits that while he doesn't care about soccer, Barou's attitude and his bullying of Reo piss him off. The two nearly have an altercation before Reo calms him down and tells him to instead show up Barou in the second half to which Nagi immediately complies.

Chigiri and Kunigami

  • Chigiri and Kunigami were often seen with each other after the former started opening up. And while it may have been unintentional, the author having players call Chigiri "Lady" or "Princess" playfully coincides with Kunigami's "hero" aspiration in that heroes tend to save/end up with princesses in classic stories.

  • Two additional time segments show the pair having some interesting interactions. In the one after episode 4, Isagi and Igarashi try to convince Kunigami to trade his curry for their dishes. He almost agrees out of pity, until Chigiri holds up his plate of stir fry complete with bishōnen sparkles as he asks which he'd prefer. Though played for laughs, it could seem like Chigiri is trying and succeeding to charm Kunigami into giving up his food.

  • In the additional time after episode 7, Kunigami intrudes while Chigiri is doing his hair and offers up a headband. Chigiri thanks him for his thoughfulness and the English Dub takes it a step further by having him say; "Kunigami you thoughtful stud."

  • The two pair up in the Second Selection and agree to take in Reo as their third teammate, but Episode Nagi shows a conversation they have after training. Kunigami asks Chigiri if his leg is okay to which he confirms it's fine and even thanks him for asking. This is significant because whenever Isagi prodded about Chigiri's leg he'd get rather annoyed by it, but Kunigami's concern seems to be an exception. He goes on to say that if he does bust his leg again, he has to score a goal and carry him on his back while doing it so it counts for both of them.

Shidou and Sae

  • Shidou is a walking landmine for this trope. Half the time he talks to Sae his lines are dripping with flirty energy, and he outright compares a shot he scored from him to impregnation. His dialogue with him is so blatant that it's arguable whether it counts as subtext.

  • Sae especially picks Shidou out of every Blue Lock player in spite of his violent tendencies being what got him banned from the U20 considerations. He tells him that Blue Lock is too small of a cage for him which gets Shidou intrigued.

  • In the second half of the U20 match, Sae subs in Shidou and the two have impeccable chemistry with one another. Oliver Aiku even comments that they're a match made in heaven.

  • During a free-kick, Sae encourages Shidou to think of his ideal goal instead of the realistically possible goal. This gets Shidou excited to which Sae orders him to fall under his spell. Shidou jokes asking if he's Cinderella and comments that he's falling in love.

  • After Shidou makes his impossible goal, it's at this point that his conversations with Sae go into outright flirting. He straight up tells Sae that he likes him and even asks for his number. Sae surprisingly agrees but only if he scores a hat trick. Shidou eagerly agrees to those terms.

  • After Shidou scores another goal, his teammates run toward him to congratulate him, but he ignores them and runs straight for Sae jumping on his back. He tells Sae that he's never felt a sensation like this before and wants to play football with him forever. An annoyed Sae flips him onto the ground reminding him that he still needs to score a hat trick, and to avoid getting grabby before then calling him a "horny demon". Shidou is undettered and looks up at him with a perverted grin remarking that if he scores ten goals, he has to let him move in with him.
