Funny / Ask White Pearl and Steven (almost!) anything

Go To

Much like the main series, Ask White Pearl and Steven (almost!) anything manages to have plenty of comedic moments.

Warning! In accordance with Wiki policy, all spoilers are left unmarked.

  • Steven literally runs right into White Pearl when he meets her for the first time.
  • When Steven and White Pearl first go shopping, White Pearl stores an entire shelf of Chaaps in her gem without Steven realizing until after they leave the store.
    Steven: Did we just shoplift?!
  • Steven calling White Pearl "a normal adult." Followed by a picture of White Pearl wearing a badge saying "Normal Adult."
  • In the Season 1 episode "Grocery Shopping", White Pearl tells Steven that she never eats anything while holding a box of crackers. Steven (not knowing anything about Gem biology) tells her that she needs to eat something. Three guesses to what she does with the box she's holding.
  • Season 2, episode 3: "Pizza". Amethyst apparently likes the taste of lead paint and has been looking for it after humans made it illegal.
  • Season 2, episode 43: "Shapeshift Salon". Pretty much the whole issue is dedicated to Rose teaching Steven how to shapeshift his appearance. When Steven attempts it, his straining causes Rose to summon her shield in the off chance he actually explodes. Rose's growing nervous expression really sells it.
    • The hairstyles Rose shifts to include Garnet, Pearl, her original hair as Pink Diamond, and Greg's, complete with the beard.
    • After all the tension of Steven probably exploding, what happens? His hairstyle changes to resemble his canon self's.
  • "Steven do you realize that you've been forcefully kin assigned White Diamond".
  • The scrum Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst and Steven end up in after he falls through the barrier.
  • Pearl, when training Earl, advises her to summon her weapon. Earl pulls out a gun! Not a gem weapon, but an actual, man made gun!
  • The main reason Chekhov drew Earl in shorts was because constantly drawing her skirt was a pain. After she reforms and the shorts become a permanent part of her form, the next two chapters are a flashback...to when she still had her skirt. This tumblr post sums it up nicely.
Chekhov: Yay, new Pearl form! It’ll be so much easier to draw for the rest of this comic which includes a— wait a minute.
  • In Season 3, Episode 34, when Rose is explaining to Steven about Lapis, the comic visually focuses on Lion invading Earl's personal space and sniffing her head.
  • Amethyst nearly swearing in surprise when she hears the mirror speak for the first time.
Amethyst: Shii—…take mushrooms, that scared me.
  • In hindsight, Amethyst asking Steven "How many problems have you solved by smashing them against your gem?" considering what happens to Jasper later.
  • Rose telling Steven that 'it's raining hard enough to be comparable to several small earth mammals' in episode 41.
  • In a darkly humorous way, Steven freaking Rose out with his resemblance to White Diamond.
  • The tension of Peridot's arrival is broken by Garnet taking a third option to try and avoid revealing their presence to her. Because it's better for her to see a giant eff-off dinosaur than a Gem.
  • After the experience at Mask Island with the invisible gem monster, Steven and the Cool Kids are ready to take it easy for the next week and Steven says he doesn't think anything could top that level of stress. Cue him and the Cool Kids staring at the giant hand ship that has just appeared over Beach City.
  • "The Solution" includes Steven revealing his new glowing power to Ruby... by taking a deep breath and cracking his back first. He then compares it directly to a glowstick while she gawks at him.
    • The first three panels of Ruby pacing and ranting in the background while Steven has no idea who she is or what's she's looking for.
    • The ask that begins the episode:
  • A photo montage in "Snapshots" shows Steven and Ruby sticking Sapphire's unformed gemstone in the center of a bagel s'more and laughing about it...and then Sapphire starts reforming. The rest of the comic features Sapphire's reformation and Amethyst and Earl riding Lion over to pick them up, and then it ends on a photo of the ruined bagel s'more.
  • At the end of "Inner Turmoil", Steven compares Rose's healing tears to how she described the 'liquid essences' of the Diamonds, triggering some very uncomfortable expressions from her and Pearl...at least, until they realize he's just wishing that he could heal as well. To comfort him, Rose brings up the possibility that Steven could create Gem life using his sweat. Cue Big "WHAT?!" before they warp away.
  • How does Stevonnie introduce themselves to the Gems in "The First Step"? By kicking through the vines Pearl hung up over the entrance in a fashion reminiscent of the infamous Candace comic.
    • Pearl deliberately hung the vines over the entrance to make it more inconspicuous and so reduce the number of 'curious human visitors.' Apparently she should have been more specific because Stevonnie (three-quarters human) makes their entrance right after she's done talking.
    • After Steven and Connie scurry off, Garnet teasingly asks Rose whether she's jealous about him fusing with a human. Amethyst then casually dismisses it as him being overpowered and that it 'must be a Diamond thing'. Rose's expression at this is something to behold.
  • Stevonnie, trying to get the knack of walking in their new body, comes across Lars and Sadie. Both get flustered when they see them and make a quick about-turn.
  • Stevonnie ends up unfusing in a panic when Steven remembers he left the shirt shop open.
  • Greg and Connie and Steven scaring each other in Ignore and Conquer.
  • In "Lend An Ear" Steven tries to psych himself up to talk to Amethyst about his fusion with Earl, telling himself "It's not as if you're keeping secrets from her on purpose." Immediately Amethyst yells from inside her room: "I know you're keeping secrets from me on purpose!"
  • Lion's expression when Rose suddenly hugs him around the neck in "Fountain of Confessions."
  • The ask for episode 9 season 4 is: "Steven did you tell the gems about what you and Connie found?" Cut to Rose, Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst's faces all staring at presumably Seaglass... only for Amethyst to then ask why they're all staring at a jacket, which Steven and Connie are using to cover her. Then Steven finally gets the courage to pull it away and we get another close-up of the gem's faces looking confused - at nothing, because Seaglass is hiding behind Steven.
  • When Connie talks about how leaving glass on the beach is actually quite dangerous.
  • Seaglass asking if Steven also made Earl, since they both have one eye. Steven says no...at least, he doesn't think he did...and then asks Earl for confirmation.
  • The drama and intensity of the finale between Rose and Jasper in Season 4, Episode 23 is hilariously offset when Seaglass pops up and asks what all the noise was about since she was taking a nap in that area.
  • The whole of "Poised to Persuade" after the gems' mission goes on a bit longer than they anticipated and Connie doesn't want to leave Seaglass unsupervised, she seriously considers turning to Jasper as the only other "adult" available. Jasper herself gets so annoyed listening to them debating whether or not to talk to her that she actually ends up giving them useful advice to make them go away.
  • Seaglass and Jasper's first meeting.
