Previews: Teaser
Alien: Romulus contains examples of:
- Advertising by Association: The trailer boasts of Fede Alvarez’s credits on Don't Breathe and Evil Dead.
- Artificial Gravity: While most shots of the trailer show this in full effect, a brief shot shows a man floating through a room with the gravity off.
- Face Full of Alien Wing-Wong: In the grand franchise tradition, a face-hugger leaps on a poor victim’s face in the teaser. Another scene from the same trailer actually shows the facehugger pulling out its phallus in all its repulsive glory.
- Genre Throwback: The teaser trailer pays homage to the Space Isolation Horror which founded the franchise compared to other more recent installments skewed away from.
- Revisiting the Roots: After Prometheus and Alien: Covenant focused mostly on the origins of the aliens and moved much of the action planetside, the teaser confirms that the film will return to the Space Isolation Horror that defined the first film.
- Zeerust Canon: Much like Alien: Isolation before it, the film returns to the Used Future aesthetics of the original film over the more industrial look of future canon or Apple-like aesthetics of the Prometheus, as seen in the trailer.
- Zerg Rush: The teaser trailer shows a whole swarm of Facehuggers chase after several characters, easily breaking through obstacles in their way and overwhelming a group later in the same trailer.
