Tropes for the film:

  • Alliterative Family: Dempsey and his son, Damon.
  • Disability Alibi: Dempsey Cain is a police officer who is shot and paralyzed from the waist down. He uses this as a means to get away with murdering people who wronged him because no one can prove a wheelchair-bound man is capable of it. It's revealed his disability is faked, though.
  • A Family Affair: Gail is having an affair with Dempsey's brother, Nick. Dempsey ends up killing them both and successfully spinning it as self-defense.
  • Modesty Bedsheet: When Nick and Gail are having sex under the covers that fall to their waists when they're interrupted by the sound of his pager going off, Gail then starts reading a book topless before they resume their lovemaking. Nick then gets completely under the blankets and pulls them up to Gail's neck.
  • Obfuscating Disability: Dempsey faked having his legs disabled so he could murder Gail while standing so that he wouldn't be suspected. note
  • Tagline: "One cop is too hot, one cop is too cool, and one of them will commit the perfect murder".
