Keith is just your average teen. At the end of one school day, he heads off to his favorite hangout spot, R-Pagio's music store, to do what he does best: make some funky-fresh beats! ...Or at least he would, if he had gotten there earlier.
A girl was currently occupying his computer, composing a song of her own, and Keith simply had to wait until she was done.
Whilst slaving away at some of his boring homework, the girl asks him if he could give some feedback on her track.
He loves it, and so, they quickly become friendly with one another, meeting up at the store every day.
However, thanks to an upcoming music convention, their relationship would soon grow beyond mere platonic feelings...
Two Idiots is a Friday Night Funkin' Series Fic that details the relationship between Boyfriend/Keith and Girlfriend/Cherry.
Two Idiots contains examples of...
- Adaptation Expansion:
- The arrows that appear during gameplay are part of a magic spell Cherry uses.
- The characters are generally given much more to their personalities than the game. Boyfriend and Girlfriend go from Fearless Fools to intelligent people who can recognize the severity of a situation. Daddy Dearest, a one-note asshole, becomes an Affably Evil rival to Keith, while still maintaining a sinister undertone throughout.
- Adaptation Name Change:
- Boyfriend is renamed to "Keith", and Girlfriend is renamed to "Cherry".
- Mommy Mearest is referred to as "Triple M", implying her name is now "Mommy Must Murder".
- Black Speech: The "English" spoken by Cherry and Monster is totally incomprehensible to humans.
- Bland-Name Product:
- "Brave And Duster's".
- Averted with the mention of Soundcloud.
- "Burly Detective" Syndrome:
- Keith = "The Bluenette"
- Daddy Dearest = "The Ex-Rockstar"
- Dream Reality Check: After Keith agrees to a sing-off against Daddy Dearest over his life, he asks Cherry to slap him to make sure he isn't dreaming.
- Fictional Video Game: Man Vs. Alien III.
- Monstrous Scenery: The theater Week 1's showdown takes place in is packed with monsters, from demons to skeletons to goblins. Naturally, Keith is a bit unnerved by it.If Keith didn't have any contest, he'd have thought he stumbled onto an elaborate costume party, but given the magic door, he was growing less and less confident about that inference.
- Mythology Gag:
- The song Cherry asks Keith to listen to in their first meeting is revealed to be "Tutorial".
- Keith and Cherry call each other their canon names in the form of teasing nicknames.
Cherry: See you later, The Boyfriend.Keith: (laughs) You too, The Girlfriend!- Chapter 3 of the prologue is named "Up! Down! Left! Right!".
- Every rap battle takes place on a Friday night, in keeping with the name of the game.
- The haunted house is located south, in reference to the second song of Week 2.
- Oh, Crap!:
- Keith when he realizes just how dangerous the idea of challenging Daddy Dearest, a demon, to a rap battle is.
He'd talked big before, but as time went on and he came to appreciate the sheer magnitude of the crowd that came to watch the fight (or, more likely, to watch him suffer) he started having doubts. And those doubts compounded among more doubts as he started grasping what he had planned to do. - Shout-Out:
- The prologue mentions "that one song with the skeleton".
- Chapter 2 of the prologue is called "The Detour Was The Shortest Path".
- The dialogue said in the recording of Daddy Dearest's battle with Keith is taken word-for-word from Friday Night Funkin' WITH LYRICS's cover of "Dad Battle":
"So, kid... you wanna date MY daughter?""Yeah! I wanna kiss my hot girlfriend!""Not on my watch, The Boyfriend! Get ready to get ROOOOCKKKKED to your core!"- Keith's apartment number is "413".
- In The Spook Before Christmas, Keith and Cherry go to the theater to watch The Ooga Booga.
- Stealth Pun: "The speaker set had a Cherry on top."
- Title Drop: Two song-based examples, both said by Daddy Dearest:"Here's something ta really get your blood pumping! It's coming up Fresh!""WELCOME TO THE DAD BATTLE!!!"
