Rapunzel Goes Home extended edition is a Tangled fanfiction by bStomhands. It details the events leading from Rapunzel and Flynn escaping the tower and the fall out and emotional turmoil of rebuilding the royal family.

Now with a sequel called Roused which has Rapunzel coming to counsel Princess Aurora and ties up some loose ends from Sleeping Beauty.

Rapunzel Goes Home provides examples of:

  • After Action Patch Up: In Roused after a chase scene in the forest.
  • A Rare Sentence: Hook-hand actually realizes how insane his defense of "a horse told me to do so" sounds like when the King asks why he helped a prisoner on death row to escape his execution.
  • Artistic License – Biology: In chapter 45. Queen Rebecca suspects that Rapunzel and Eugene had sex that night at the campfire because she believes that because of the way Rapunzel's eating, the only logical explanation is pregnancy, despite both a doctor and the orphanage headmistress both informing her that Rapunzel is still a virgin. She also mentions that because she has birthed fourteen children (Rapunzel being the only one that survived past infancy) she knows just about everything about pregnancy and childbirth, so you'd think that she'd know that no-one shows signs of pregnancy until 4 weeks in. According to Eugene in this chapter, he has only known Rapunzel for four days! On a small side note, Rapunzel is not pregnant.
  • Automaton Horses: Averted. Following his heroic run to bring Flynn to the tower, Maximus is in a rather pitiful state and needs rest and care.
  • Backstory: Plenty of secondary and primary characters get quite a lot.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The King and Queen are fair and kind rulers, but they become very, very scary when Rapunzel is threatened.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Let's just say Gothel's lucky she aged to death before the King and Queen got to her.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The Guard intended for the infant princess spent eighteen years to speculate on her return's circumstances. So when Rapunzel is brought by her criminal sweetheart, the Captain only needs to find the adequate file.
  • Darker and Edgier: For being based on Disney princesses, this goes to some really dark places.
  • Deconstruction Fic: Roused in particular deconstructs the "Happily Ever After" Disney standard and shows a lot more baggage that needs to be dealt with.
  • Dissonant Serenity: The Queen is eerily calm when she describes her planned punishment for her daughter's kidnapper. It takes it nearly into Nightmare Fuel territory.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Roused introduces the Goon Queen, a giant monster living under the Forbidden Mountain that gives birth to Maleficent's goons.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The characters have nightmares of different horrible ways Tangled could have ended because of minor changes. Rapunzel lost the flag and never got her memories back; the mirror never broke and Flynn couldn't cut her hair; Rapunzel's hair is never ever cut and creates a world where nobody can ever die.
  • Grand Theft Me: In Roused, Maleficent tries to do this with Princess Aurora.
  • The "I Love You" Stigma: The trauma of Gothel's betrayal makes Rapunzel very uncomfortable telling anyone she loves them or hearing them say they love her.
  • Loophole Abuse: Exploited by Rapunzel to prevent the Guard from arresting Eugene on sight, as she immediately declares herself the Lost Princess. As he's her companion, Eugene is safe until she's brought to the Castle and tested.
  • Mama Bear: Rapunzel's mother, Queen Rebecca.
  • Ninja Maid: The royal family has a whole group of these, known as the Lock Maids. Margaret, Rapunzel's primary maid, is particularly good with throwing knives.
  • No Periods, Period: Averted — Gothel grouses this is an aspect of youth she didn't miss at all, and Rapunzel actually suffered a First Period Panic as she thought she was hurting and couldn't heal herself.
  • Overly Long Name: Rapunzel actually was born Solara Rebecca Agatha Menolly Von Sonnenshein, and tacks "Rapunzel" as a first name after being formally crowned as the princess of Corona.

  • Sadistic Choice: Corona's law would make the King hang a criminal disturbing the peace. It unfortunately involves the people who finally brought the Lost Princess back to her parents.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Apparently that's a thing with princesses. Rebecca gained the ability after marrying Leonard.
  • Start of Darkness: Of Maleficent.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The King has this reaction to the Three Good Fairies from Sleeping Beauty after she's traumatized by their deception of being her aunts.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: The King is incredulous to hear Eugene doesn't think he's worthy of Rapunzel after spending several days constantly protecting her and ultimately giving his life for her freedom.
