Danganronpa: The Wolf's Game, commonly abbreviated as DRWG, is a Danganronpa fan series created by Aquamarino, with the help of editor Aethrea. Unlike other fanworks, DRWG is updated through a Wordpress blog, which can be found here. The story revolves around 16 Ultimates trapped inside the facilities of the mysterious Hope's Peak Sanctuary, and forced to play a killing game dubbed Killing Sanctuary Exam. Unlike other killing game, however, this one is directly inspired by the game of Ultimate Werewolf. All of the roles of the game (such as the Bodyguard and the Seer) are either taken literally into their talent or as symbolism of the characters' personalities and actions in the story.

Tropes in Danganronpa: The Wolf's Game includes:

  • Anime Theme Song: Unlike other fan works, DRWG uses a Vocaloid song as their own opening resembling an anime series. You can watch it here (YuchaP ft. Gumi - Nanji wa Jinrou Nari Ya?)
  • Anyone Can Die: Unsurprising for a series heavily inspired by Danganronpa.
  • Breaking Old Trends: The protagonist, Shouma, has Idiot Hair, although he uses hair gel to keep it from standing up to keep his formal and classy appearance.
  • Continuity Nod: During the second trial, Monokuma says not to mention anything related to magical girls, being an implied nod to Monomi/Usami from Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.
  • Country Matters: Kyo calls Oboro a cunt while threatening to kill her with a gun. Although, he turns out to be completely correct in this assessment when she later rapes another student after murdering said student and also turns out to be one of the two masterminds of the game.
  • Courtroom Antics: Kazuto gets angry and accidentally punches Shouma during the second trial. Monokuma immediately bans violence in the trials from then on.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: It wouldn’t be Danganronpa without ‘em, let's be honest. For example:
    • The first culprit’s execution involves being dragged by the neck across the ground and by the end, beheaded by a guillotine.
  • Deadly Game: This is a Danganronpa fan fiction, so naturally there is a death game occurring.
  • Episodic Game: The chapters are separated into parts, which tend to be released from about a week to a month. Daily and Deadly Lives tend to have five parts.
  • Fan Disservice: Seeing Oboro stripped down to her underwear might be considered sexy, except for the fact that it’s her brutalized corpse.
  • Film Noir: DRWG takes a lot of inspiration from the film noir genre. These inspirations can be seen in the opening and some of the various cast members.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: The are 8 boys and 8 girls among the cast. Subverted with the addition of Delilah in Chapter 3.
  • Meaningful Name: There are a lot of these in the character names.
  • Public Execution: A staple of the Danganronpa franchise and its fan works.
  • Shrine to the Fallen: At the beginning of chapter 3, the living students make a shrine for the two recently deceased students.
  • Werewolf Theme Naming: Danganronpa: The Wolf’s Game, named after the game Ultimate Werewolf.
