Ask Not the Sparrow How the Eagle Soars is a Worm/Kill la Kill crossover where Taylor gets a familiar Kamui at camp...

Tropes:

  • A-Cup Angst: One of the problems Taylor has with Senketsu's more revealing form is that she's not busty enough to pull it off.
  • Alternate Universe: In this verse, New Wave took out Allfather instead of Marquis, so there’s no Panacea in New Wave and the Marquis’s parahumans include several capes that joined the Undersiders or Merchants in canon, like Grue and Squealer. The parahuman that became Blasto in canon also joined the Bay Protectorate as Chimera.
  • And Show It to You: Apparently Taylor got her heart ripped out in the battle against the Empire capes.
  • The Assimilator: Taylor's trigger had her body absorb the Primordial Life Fiber piece that crashed near her.
  • Blood Knight: Taylor, apparently due to both the Primordial Life Fiber piece that merged with her and her shard (despite Senketsu trying to keep it in check).
  • Dead Fic: Unfortunately. The author noted he'd lost all inspiration for the fic and posted what would have been his plan. Though before leaving it they did go over what 'would' have happened if they had continued the fic.
  • The Dreaded: After Crickets surrenders to her, Taylor starts thinking that she'll try to make other criminals surrender to her as well.
  • Exact Words: Taylor promises assault that she'll try to avoid doing things like inflicting an Eye Scream on Crusader... because she plans to build up a reputation as The Dreaded using that incident, so she won't have to.
    • Earlier Lisa told Taylor that she and her friends weren't with the Marche, deliberately not saying that the mission they were on was a test to gain entry.
  • Eye Scream: Taylor, knowing about Chimera, rips Crusaders eyes out to blind him and his projections.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • This fic diverges from the canon end of Kill la Kill when Raygo created a dimensional breach during their orbital fight, Senketsu throwing Ryuko to safety and sacrificing himself to close it, ending up on Earth Bet in the process.
    • Even before Senketsu crashes on Bet next to a camp going Taylor, the Bay was significantly different due to New Wave taking Allfather down instead of the Marquis.
    • Blasto joined the Protectorate instead of going villain.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Taylor, thanks to her trigger causing her body to absorb the piece of the Primordial Life Fiber that crashed next to her at camp.
  • Healing Factor: Taylor, like Ryuko, now has an enhanced healing ability, and has survived her heart being removed from her chest.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Taylor, although reassured by Senketsu, feels that she can't measure up to Ryuko.
  • Holy Backlight: Taylor is able to pull off this off somehow. Her trigger into a Life-Fiber Hybrid may have something to do with it.
  • Inadequate Inheritor: Taylor, after hearing Senketsu talk so much about Ryuko, can't help but feel that she's inadequate compared to her.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Taylor lampshades how Senketsu's original reality is apparently much more casual with nudity than Earth Bet after seeing what his empowered form looks like. Senketsu, remembering Nudist Beach, admits that she may have a point.
  • Logic Bomb: Taylor and Senketsu are this to Lisa, due to their mutual Half-Human Hybrid nature, she keeps getting information that contradicts itself, like saying that Taylor is human, then saying that she's an alien.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Life Fibers to Earth Bet.
  • Psychic Dreams for Everyone: Taylor has one featuring her mother actually Ragyo, trying to reassert herself from the Life Fibers.
  • Second Super-Identity: Taylor, after accidentally outing herself as a cape, develops two superhero personas, Raiment, which draws more from Ryuko, and Regalia, which draws more from Satsuki.
  • Shipper on Deck: Senketsu seems to have a minor ship for Taylor/Lisa. Of course, his dating advice is all from Mako’s mother, and Taylor honestly can't tell if he thinks the advice (which includes tidbits like bringing Uzis along) is genuinely helpful or if he's just messing with her.
  • Stripperiffic: Defied, since Senketsu isn't going to try and control her, rendering the skin contact issue moot, she has him alter his form when she's out as a cape into something with actual armor, though he does still keep trying to make it more revealing. His actions are actually justified since how much power she can get from Senketsu is tied to her body image, so her refusal to show more skin keeps her from being as powerful as she could be.
  • Tempting Fate: Senketsu does this after Taylor agrees to patrol with Vista and Clock.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Taylor can’t use Senketsu‘s full power yet but managed to come up more uses for her Kamui powers in a few days than Ryuko ever did.
