Tatsumi and Ryuko journey to the capitol for opportunities. Little do they know they are entering a cesspool of corruption and villainy. They soon find themselves involved in the Assassin group, the Night Raid.
Tropes:
- Adapted Out: Akame is not featured in this story due to being involved in the events of Akame la Kill!. Her abscence is briefly noted at the end of the first chapter.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Aria offers housing to Tatsumi and Ryuko, her parents offer assistance locating Tatsumi's friends, and the household staff politely assist them. Nonetheless, this all a trap designed to lure innocent travelers to there painful deaths, like what happened to Ieyusa, Sayo, and countless others.
- Death by Adaptation: Downplayed with Ieysua. In the manga and anime he is found alive but dies shortly after. In this fic he is found dead.
- Dirty Cop: Captain Orge of the Imperial Police forces false confessions out of innocent people and takes bribes from corrupt oil merchant Gamal.
- Mistaken for Pedophile: Ryuko mistakingly believes that Leone is pursuing Aria due to having a "sick taste for little girls". Mine later scolds Ryuko for this accusation, but Ryuko defends herself.
- Posthumous Character: By the time Tatsumi finds Ieysua and Sayo, they have been tortured and killed by Aria and her family. They only appear alive in a brief dream that Tatsumi has.
- Puppet King: The Emporer is being controlled by The Prime Minister, who makes all of his decisions for the country while assuring him that he is doing the right thing.
- Snake Oil Salesman: Leone cons Ryuko and Tatsumi by asking for bribe money to help Tatsumi get into the Imperial Police, despite having no ability to make such a thing happen.
- Would Hurt a Child: Leone and the Night Raid have no problems hunting down and trying to kill Aria. They ultimately have a reason, as Aria and her parents have been torturing and murdering innocent people including Tatsumi's friends. When Tatsumi discovers this, he kills her without remorse.
- You Just Told Me: When Tatsumi find the bodies of Sayo and Ieyusa, Ryuko demands to know of he knew them. When Tatsumi is to angry to focus on answering, Leone notes that "his silence speaks volumes".
