He is perhaps best remembered for playing Professor Cliff Jones in the well-regarded Doctor Who serial "The Green Death" (1973). His character was a romantic interest for, and ultimately became engaged to, the Doctor's companion Jo Grant, who was played by Bevan's real-life (then-)girlfriend Katy Manning.
While Bevan and Manning would ultimately split up, they remained friends, and Bevan reprised his role as Cliff alongside Manning as Grant twice, for the trailers to the Blu-ray releases of Classic Doctor Who Seasons 8 and 10.
They also reunited for a trip to the Welsh village of Deri where "The Green Death" was filmed for a special feature on the Season 10 boxset titled "Keeping Up With The Joneses", as well as the Behind The Sofa feature for the Season 8 boxset.
