Henry Scott

• Career-Ending Injury: During the first series, a wall collapses on top of him at work, meaning that he can no longer work as a scaffolder.
• Control Freak: Henry is supposedly such a control freak that his family claim that he'd find away to carry the coffin at his own funeral.
• High-School Sweethearts: He and Laura have been together since they were teenagers.
• Shotgun Wedding: Was the product of a shotgun wedding between his parents. Laura falling pregnant with Erin is implied to have been an expediting factor in his own marriage.
• Workaholic: He loves his job and being able to provide for his family, hence why's so bereft as a result of his Career-Ending Injury. However, Erin admits that she's enjoyed having him around the house since it's meant that she's been able to spend time with him before she leaves home for good.

Laura Scott

• Housewife: Has spent the last twenty-odd years as a house-spouse. She gets a job managing her cousin's new café in the second series.

Erin Scott

• Lipstick Lesbian: While not as self-consciouly glam as her aunties, her personal style leans more towards the femme side.
• Recurring Character: Is often away at uni but drops by for family events.

Jason Scott

• Geek: Loves fantasy, specifically Warhammer.
• NEET: Does not appear to have a job or be in higher education like Erin.
• Nerds Are Virgins: Has so far failed in any attempts to find himself a girlfriend. He even goes so far as to hypothetically offer his services as a sperm donor to Erin's girlfriend as a possible avenue for sex.
• Precocious Crush: He hints at having had one of these on Vonny that he never entirely grew out of.

Vincent Scott

• Awesome Ego: He's clearly trying for this, but his family are pretty quick to bring him back down to earth.
• Genius Ditz: Worked as a dentist before going into the injectables business. Although he's generally portrayed as self-absorbed to the point of obtuseness, dentistry is still one of the most competitive and labour-intensive university degrees out there, so he would have to have had some combination of academic aptitude and work ethic to qualify.
• Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Gets told off for undercutting Darren's role as the dad by buying too many presents for the new baby's gender reveal party.

Vonny Scott

• The Alcoholic: By her own admission, she's never long without a drink in her hand.
• Only Known by Their Nickname. Her full name is actually Vondela.
• White-Dwarf Starlet: Was originally a dancer in the West End, but her career collapsed after her first attempt at choreographing a show failed miserably.

Colette Scott

• Giftedly Bad: Aspires to be a singer-songwriter but her ambitions far outstrip her talents.

Darren Lee

• Cannot Keep a Secret: He manages to keep Colette from hijacking Vincent and Vonny's vow renewal to announce her pregnancy, only to spill the beans himself to Henry and Vincent the same day.

• In-Series Nickname: He's is often referred to as "Stauner McGregor" by Henry and Vincent.

Moira Scott

• Maternally Challenged: She doesn't appreciate Vincent's attempts to spend more time with her, since she feels like she's already done her time as a parent.

Ronnie Scott

• Disability as an Excuse for Jerkassery: Only some of his Jerkass activities are directly connected to his blindess, such as touching all the food at the buffet table at Moira's party. The rest just seems to be him enjoying winding everyone up with his football patter.

Eilidh Ward

• Girl Friday: Works as Vincent's assistant and is often invited along to family events..
• Go-Getter Girl: She pours all her energy into building up the Vincent Scott brand as a means of advancing her own career.
• Mistaken for Cheating: Everyone thinks that Vincent is cheating on Vonny with her, or at the very least is trying to. Eilidh states very clearly that she isn't interested.
