- Raised by Grandparents: Dwight lives with his grandmother since his parents died in a plane crash.
- Shared Life Energy: The Champion spell bound his life to Gretta's until "all her enemies are defeated." So if Gretta should die for any reason, Dwight will perish with her.
Gretta
Actor: Caitlin Carmichael
Tropes:
- Lady of War: Gretta was forced to fight for her life from the age of two and lived under constant threat every day.
- Only One Name: She has no surname, although she claims to be named Gretta Besieged for 21st century census records.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: When they plan to fortify the house they just purchased, Gretta is seen to help build the structures personally.
Baldric

Tropes:
- Chick Magnet: A certain type of women find him irresistible. Unfortunately for Baldric, that type is evil witches... and Hexela.
- Happily Ever After: In the final episode, Baldric proposes to Hexela and she accepts.
- Limited Wardrobe: Played for Laughs when Baldric unpacks his clothing trunk and they're all identical robes, despite him naming each one as having a specific purpose. He then selects one specific robe and instructs Dwight to make sure he is buried in it, as it is his funeral garb.
Chlodwig

Tropes:
- Accidental Hero: He punched a troll unconscious, completely unaware that said troll was keeping a maiden prisoner in a nearby tower, which allowed her to escape.
- My Beloved Smother: Chlodwig appears to have one of these, contributing to his mental instability.
- Starter Villain: He's the first villain Dwight has to face, and protect Gretta from
Hexela

Tropes:
- Omniglot: Hexela the witch is noted for her talent with languages. Baldric turns to her for help when dealing with a girl speaking an unknown non-human language, which Hexela is able to identify and translate.
- Happily Ever After: In the final episode, Baldric proposes to her and she accepts.

- Weredragon: She can shapeshift into a dragon.
Macklyn the Fox/Henrik
Actor: Andrew Pifko
- Anamorphism: He can shapeshift into a fox.
- Identity Amnesia: Macklyn has no memories before a certain point, and his only clue to his identity is the fox tattoo on his wrist. It is eventually revealed his memories were stolen by a memory thief.
- Just Like Robin Hood: Dwight speculates that Macklyn the Fox is like this, since he has a lot of the trappings of Robin Hood. Macklyn informs him that, no, he prefers to rob from the rich and keep the money for himself. He also robs from the poor, but there is less money in that.
- Long-Lost Relative: He is Greta's uncle, although he can not remember their family connection.
- Meaningful Name: His name is a hint at the specific animal he can shapeshift into.
Arnolf

- Time Master: He can create time loops, perceive the flow of time, teleport groups of people through space, create time portals and send people on a journey across reality itself.
Winnie the Wyvern
Actor: Catherine Lidstone
- Ancient Keeper: Due to her eternal youth, Winnie has the knowledge of ages, including many secrets not known to mortals.
- The Ageless: Winnie appears to be a young woman in her early 20s when in human form, but she's very old.
- The Unintelligible: She communicates in a series of howls, wailing and hissing. She is actually speaking, it's just not a language understood by non-Wyverns and always requires a translator to speak on her behalf.
- Weredragon: She can take human form, but only by shedding her dragon skin, which she must reclaim later to return to her dragon form. If someone else steals the skin while she is not wearing it, she will be trapped in human form.

- Mind-Control Music: Jacopo the Troubadour had a magic lute which lets him control people.

- Evil Uncle: Tried to murder his niece several times, sold his brother to the fairies as a meal to obtain magical power and made a bargain with an evil witch to gain power, all so he could claim the throne which was denied to him.
- Hiding in Plain Sight: Is seen in several episodes as Mr Hammond the history teacher aided by the memory erasing power he bought from the fairies.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Dwight goads Hammond into attacking him while he is standing in front of the Queen Tree. When Dwight dodges the sword strike, Hammond is vaporised by hitting the tree, as using a blade on the tree is lethal and Dwight knew that.

- Even Evil Has Standards: Finds Sporg's cannabilistic tendencies revolting.
- Villainous BSoD: When he realizes the second Tovenar he just revived is his old nemesis Sporg, he seriously considers giving up all his evil plans and going back to the tradecraft he learned from his parents, because Sporg is just that useless.
Sporg
Actor: Brandon NeSmith
- I'm a Humanitarian: After slaying his enemies, he prefers to dine on their brains and internal organs, even purposefully avoiding damaging them so as to have a better meal.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: He can communicate with any avian species and it's a surprising wealthy resource of information. He can even call them to his aid in battle.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: For an evil immortal wizard, he's so incompetent that every other Tovenar shuns him.
