Main Party

    Rudy Giovanni
I-I'm the one who has to s-save the world! I-I can't do it!

The boy chosen to save the world. He is sent by Emmet to find the two girls who will aid him on his journey. However, he's very shy and not confident in himself.

  • Badass Teacher: Rudy is a student teacher learning under Syl to one day become a professor alongside his mentor at Heirloom Arts. He is also The Chosen One, and while a shy Reluctant Hero at first, he gradually grows more confident and winds up saving the multiverse.
  • Reluctant Hero: He really doesn't think he can save the world.
Rudy: I-I can't do this! I-I'm not strong like you, Emmet!
Emmet: You don't believe you can do it? Rudy. Listen to me. The first step to becoming a hero is believing that you can be a hero. Can you do that for me?
Rudy: I-I don't know if I can Emmet...
  • Insecure Love Interest: Rudy is the boyfriend of Emily Koibito, but he struggles to make her happy with her constant narcissism.
  • Speech Impediment: He stutters in pretty much every line he says until he begins to believe in himself more after an event in The Pit of Unforgettable Mistakes.

    Annabelle Sunray
A girl who lives in an apartment with her father Jason. She hails from Annabelle (RPG Maker) and joins Rudy on his quest.
  • Back from the Dead: In the finale, she is able to temporarily return from her Heroic Sacrifice and help the heroes defeat Yoobii. Though she has to go back to purgatory afterwards.
  • Not Too Dead to Save the Day: She returns from her Heroic Sacrifice in the final battle to help the heroes defeat Yoobii and the Comedian. As implied from Luunii, there will be a second act to the game where Annabelle appears in purgatory, trying to find her way to McDonalds. Luunii has implied that in her quest, she will find mysterious characters and save them from themselves.

    Jeanne Panini
The former Mean Ice Cream Queen from The Brains And The Brawn who was sent to Ravena Asylum for her crimes. When Rudy and Annabelle rescue her, she decides to tag along.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Jeanne has changed since her appearance in The Brains and the Brawn, becoming a hero when she knows how the world needs to be saved.
  • Reluctant Hero: Much like Rudy, Jeanne is quick to doubt her own abilities due to her own past and needs the help of her new friends to overcome it.

    Tracy
A friend of Esteban and Husu who came from Antirealm. She is the only party member who has not present in the original game.
  • Only Sane Woman: Tracy acts as a sort of voice of reason throughout their time in the journey, being able to set her fellow teammates straight and being able to keep an abnormally calm head in even the most stressful situations.
  • Promoted to Playable: In her home game, she was a secondary character, but here is made one of the four party members, and the last one recruited.

Allies

    Syl
You've got this Rudy. I'm rooting for you.

Rudy's mentor and a professor at Heirloom Arts.

  • Mentor Archetype: For his scant screen time, he taught Rudy everything he knows and gives Rudy the pep-talk he needs to go on his adventure with at least a little confidence.
  • No-Sell: When encountered in Glitch Glacier, he states that Yoobii cannot erase him because he was not made by Yoobii, implying that he has some form of invulnerability to Yoobii’s ability to erase reality, and he implies that his friend Eliza has the same ability.
  • Original Character: He and Eliza were created by Luunii for this remake, and was not in the original game. This actually translates to an In-Universe immunity to Yoobii’s erasure powers, since they were not made by Yoobii.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: As shown in one of Nihilism’s progress update videos, it is implied that Syl is fully aware of Tyrannia, and possibly of the world of Annventure before the reset button was pushed.
Syl: Does the name “Tyra” sound familiar to you?
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Gives a speech to Rudy to this effect when he expresses his lack of confidence in being The Chosen One.
Syl: Rudy. You've grown a lot since the day I met you. Believe it or not, you've been getting braver every day.
    Rudy: I-I have?
Syl: Yes. From the day I took you under my wing to student teach for me, I knew I made the right choice. You have the potential to do great things, Rudy. I know you do. You held so much promise then, and that promise grew every day. I know you're scared Rudy, but I know that you've got this. I believe in you. Don't you remember what Alivn said to you? Strength isn't a matter of courage... strength is doing the right thing. Sometimes you've just got to take that leap of faith.

    Eliza
A close friend of Syl and a friend to Rudy.
  • Love Interest: To Syl. Eliza is in love with Syl and as such she is also a teacher figure to Rudy and Syl's equal.
  • Original Character: She and Syl were created by Luunii for this remake, and was not in the original game. This actually translates to an In-Universe immunity to Yoobii’s erasure powers, since they were not made by Yoobii.

    Professor Susan
A friend of Syl and Rudy, a scientist who works at Heirloom Arts. Not much is known about her at this point in the story.

Main Antagonists

    The Mysterious Force

The Grand Creator Yoobii

The god of the Yoobiiverse and the antagonist of the game. He seeks to erase his worlds out of self-hatred.

  • Affably Evil: Like in the original game, he is friendly and polite even to the heroes he is trying to destroy, never once raising his voice. He is also a genuine friend to The Comedian, who serves as a Morality Pet of sorts.
  • Big Bad: Like in the original game, he is the one destroying the Yoobiiverse.
  • Dual Boss: He fights you alongside The Comedian.
  • Evil Counterpart: Well, Affably Evil counterpart. The game basically makes him one to Rudy by giving the latter a personality. Both are defined by their crippling insecurity and their belief that they cannot handle the massive responsibility that has been foisted on them, but while Rudy tries his best to work through his fears and becomes a stronger person by the end, refusing to let himself be forever defined by his insecurity, Yoobii allowed himself to be consumed by it to the point of wanting to destroy his universe.
  • Tragic Villain: Deep down Yoobii really is not evil at all, and he only fights and tries to destroy his creations because he feels forced to by his inadequacy and depression. Yoobii in the lore of the game is actually a very kindhearted individual, just trapped in a sticky situation.

    The Comedian

Enflared

A mysterious and powerful time traveler, who helps Yoobii in his plans for a currently unknown reason.

  • The Dragon: They aid Yoobii in his plans, but Yoobii makes it clear he is the one in charge. However, after Yoobii began settling down with Enflared's help, Yoobii began seeing Enflared as an equal, seeing them pulling the strings in every way to stop anybody who tries to get in their way.
  • Dual Boss: They fight you alongside Yoobii in the final battle.
  • Hero Antagonist: The Comedian is not really a villain despite fighting you in the endgame. In fact, they are only trying to help Yoobii love himself and talk him out of destroying the world.
  • Morality Pet: For Yoobii. In the final battle, it becomes very clear how close the two have become, with Yoobii's care for Enflared and Enflared giving Yoobii the nickname "Yoobs" at one point. Enflared has even tried to talk Yoobii out of destroying everything, desperately trying to get Yoobii to regain confidence and self-love.
  • Noble Top Enforcer: Yoobii is pretty Affably Evil himself, but The Comedian has tried to talk him out of destroying his creations and does not seem to enjoy their job of helping him destroy everything.
  • Reality Warper: Enflared is able to call upon many of their friends to aid them in changing the code of the game and to stall Rudy and his team. It is implied that these friends will be seen in the final version of the game, and will even become major bosses as well.

Minor Antagonists

    Jason Sunray
If you want her, then come back later. Now get the hell out of my house.

Annabelle's father. In the original, he only served as a short cameo, but here he is the first boss of the game.

    Spoiler Character

Tyrannia

The evil witch herself, who was defeated for good in the previous game. Or so it seemed, but somehow she managed to hang on, and makes her return in the final battle. Updates also indicate that she will play an even bigger role in future versions.

  • Ax-Crazy: As much as ever. In this game, she tries to get Rudy to kill Yoobii and The Comedian violently to sate her bloodlust, taunting them and laughing all the while.
  • The Corrupter: Attempts to play this to Rudy by getting him to gruesomely murder Yoobii and The Comedian. He resists long enough for Yoobii to realize her presence and delete her. It was implied by Luunii however that in the final version, Yoobii will be unable to delete her, and instead another battle will occur after defeating Yoobii. Against whom and for what purpose is currently unknown.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: Subverted and Defied. She attempts to steal the Big Bad position from Yoobii by getting Rudy to kill him, but Yoobii realizes what's going on and deletes her for good.
  • Not Quite Dead: Despite her code being deleted in her last canonical appearance, she somehow was able to return.

”WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?”

A mysterious being who has yet to be elaborated on. This mysterious character has been shown in multiple instances, appearing on a mysterious teaser on the Nihilism Gamejolt page, appearing at the end of this YouTube video about the origins of a character named Abase, only saying the line of “Finally. I’ve been trying to contact you for so long” before being cut off (video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzWGEW230kY), and being implied by Luunii to be the mysterious survey giver who posted two different surveys on the Nihilism gamejolt page saying they were important for the future of Nihilism’s development, with each survey containing strange ethical-based questions such as “WHAT DO YOU FEAR MOST?” And “DO YOU BELIEVE THAT EVERYBODY IS DESERVING OF LOVE?” In the same mysterious teaser as mentioned before, the word “checksum” is used, giving the possibility that this mysterious being is some sort of checksum, but it is unclear if it is talking about the being or about something finding the being. It is also unclear if this mysterious being is a friend or a foe or what their intentions are, but it is clear that they will be very important to the story in the future.
